Hi I have been downloading some mixamo animations but was wondering if anyone else has the same problems I am having, and subsequently how can I solve it.
Simply put if i use a walk motion (or any motion wher the character is not on the same spot) and the character takes a couple of steps the root widget doesnt move with the character it stays put. So if i loop it the character just jumps back to the start position. Is there an easy fix please.

Many thanks

Don't loop it.
At the end of your first motion, apply it again and right click motion --> align --> Root... and so on...
That should work ;)

@toystorylab

Thanks, I also have been wondering about this!

Any Ideas

This was recently discussed. There is currently no merging of clips that happen at the same time. An exception are Mixed Moves clips, which can be combined, but they work only for standard human characters.

I tried one way but that didn't work. First I applied the walk clip and then the bark clip to the dog, so that you have two clips in succession.

I then right-clicked on each clip and selected Sample Motion Clip > Sample. This will reveal the keyframes of each clip. I then pasted the Bark keyframes into the Walk keyframes.

Unfortunately, the keyframes are all lumped together for each clip (not separated by body part as for human characters). You would want to remove any leg motion from the Bark clip but that is not simple. You could do it with the Curve Editor by flattening any leg motion, but that's higher order work...

Another option is to keyframe the bark motion. Study the existing one and then replicated that on the Walk motion. But that is also not straight forward.

OK, I had to practice what I preached and here is the result:

The dog and the motions are from Wil Veeke. I used "Sp Walk.iMotion"and "Sp Bark.iMotion".

Procedure:
1. I exposed the keyframes of the Barking motion by doing a Sample Motion Clip -) Sample.
2. Using the Curve Editor I removed all leg motions from the Barking motion.
3. I copied all keyframes from the Barking motion and dropped them into the Walking motion.
4. I then did a Collect Clip to save as a new motion clip for reuse.

The clip can be looped as shown in the video.

By any chance are you using iClone 7 because im still on 6.5 and i dont think i  can get curve editor for this version.
Its a shame because that is just what i need not only for this character but i could use a similar step for other problems i have.
I really appreciate the time and effort for your explaination and will use it if i can ever afford iClone 7. Being just a hobbyist is such a drag, but i think my wife would divorce me if i spent any more money on iClone.

Thanks again

I'm sorry, you did indeed post in the iClone 6 forum. Yes, I do have iClone 7. I don't think there would be a solution for iClone 6. Maybe you can appease your wife somehow... I'm also married, but my wife is OK with my animation hobby.

What I did is based on this pack: https://marketplace.reallusion.com/huntingdogs-with-58-motions

I wondered if the motion I created would work in iClone 6. It does! (Most things created in iClone 7 don't work in 6.)

I have attached the motion for you to try. (I hope you have the pack.)

Hi Tanks for taking the time out to sort out my problem, perhaps i can send you round to appease the wife, you may have better luck than me. LOL.
I tried the motion you sent me and unfortunately it has the typical iclone watermark all over it and the motion name in the timeline is in pink, so Im assuming it wont let me use it.
I really really apreciate your help and advice.

Many thanks

woody, what pack do you have? I may have that too and try with that.

My wife would be very good at appeasing your wife...:P

It's actually in our wedding vows: I support her in her life of service and she will support me in my life of art and science (broad enough to be future proof).

Hi I have noticed that the motion you sent me as a .rlMotion suffix and not the usual iMotion suffix, Is this an iClone7 thing. I tried changing the suffix so it would work in iClone6 but it doesnt open so is their a way of saving it so it can be used in previous versions of iClone. That may get rid of the watermark problem.

Many thanks

Hmm, I used it in iClone 6 without problem (by dropping it directly on the dog in the scene), but I will save it in iClone 6 and then it should be an iMotion.

I indeed just dropped the rlMotion on the dog in iClone 6 and it worked, but I'm attaching the iMotion version for you to try.

Hi thank you agian for taking the time out to sort this query out. I bought the hunting dogs from wil veeke by the way. Im still having the same problem and tried putting it in the motions folder that came with my models and in the left panel  it says trial in the corner, hence the watermark. I have been looking into IC7 and by the time i get that, 3DX 7 and the curve editor its way way out of my price range. So ill just have to suffer the lowly uses of IC6.

I have said from the start that iClone is brilliant but all the extra addons and extra purchases are really getting out of hand and expensive. I know Reallusion is a business but I believe eventually they will lose a lot of cutomers like me who are not doing it for the money but just for the love of it and it will be an elitist software out of the reach of so many people. Its a crying shame because as i say it as so many amazing atributes.
Thanks

I wonder if it somehow marks the fact that used the Curve Editor to create the motion, because that would be the only difference between our setups.

I wonder if i could use the animation using 3Dxchange somehow. maybe i could get rid of the watermark there. I will have a play, but im not very good with 3DXchange has im still learning its benefits.....

Nah tried it and it says cant add trial motions to the perform list nad its still in pink

Why do they make it so dificult to do the simpliest of tasks LOL

Well, it's at a point now that it is beyond my understanding...

That is, why am I able to load the motion in iClone 6 and 3DXchange 6 without trial watermarks, but you cannot?

I did exactly what you tried to do: load the dog in 3DXchange and then added the motion to Perform, which worked fine. It's becoming a matter of "Trials and Tribulations"...:P

As a last resort you could try to mimic the barking motion with keyframing, since the walk-bark motion does load from what I understand, although it gives a water mark.

Hi, guys.

Did you find a solution to the problem?
