Advice on Encoder Needed

Pop3 will only recognize .mpg, .mpeg, .avi, and .wmv. My Panasonic creates MTS files. I’ve gotten some free encoders and their output is .wmv. I  can’t find any converter, free or paid, that encodes to mpg or mpeg. I am  wondering what others are using.

Two more points; first, Panasonic does not offer a converter,and second, I can drop the file into another editing program and render it out.  It’s a good work around, but it’s baffling to me that I can’t find a proper  encoder.

A very excellent converter that I've been using since version 3 is TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works.

For a freeware,  this one has been pretty good for me -  https://www.any-video-converter.com/products-freeware/
I'm using an older version,  I haven't tried the new releases as lately some updates just suck for all softwares - ie - sketchup,  so I decided to stick with what worked,  that said ,  I hope this updated version works the same or better than the one I use.
