A Chance to Hide by Ben Tuttle - "After a major world-wide event, Daniel and Katie try to escape for shelter but trouble soon encounters them."

Here's a chance to live (vicariously) 5 minutes in the apocalypse.  Ben is a well versed filmmaker with plenty of experience with voice actors and both of these areas shine with good editing and camerawork and solid voice acting from the cast.  A bit visually dark and the sound design was nice but lacked a bit of the dynamic highs and lows (the loud sound effects felt a touch muted while the quieter moments were a bit muddy).  With no real beginning and no end its truly a "5 minutes in the life" scenario and that worked for me seeing what Ben could accomplish in this setting.  Good stuff worth 5 minutes of your time!

As always, Bens' work is superb. I loved the Noir style treatment of the tale.

The Dutchman's Gold by Greg Sinclear - "This is my latest animation, an adventure story set in early 1940."

I love Greg Sinclear's Thunder Alley Productions.  From hunting Bigfoot, telling ghost tales and bringing Steinbeck's Tin Pan Alley to life Greg pumps out well made entertaining tales at a impressive pace.  With "The Dutchman's Gold" Greg serves up a legitimate Indiana Jones style adventure with a script that kept me fully immersed in the story and not staring at the runtime (20 minutes).  Voice actors feel professional (I think he once said he uses community actors) with actual acting in the performances.  Also loved the fluid animations and effects work, particularly watching various bad guys meet their end in the booby traps.  All in all its a super fun production that had me smiling out loud throughout.

Scream in the Night by Iclonecartoonstory - "An unexpected midnight encounter with horror in quite calm circumstances.  In the darkness of the night and more intoxication, blood and encounter with the unknown follow."

Here's one I missed when we were picking flicks for the Halloween thread.  Its a nice 2-minute piece of candy corn with some pretty good facial gestures.  Has a strange plastic sheen over everything and a simplicity in the set design that kinda works well for this.  Also liked the herky jerky way the guy stumbles down the hallway (even if it may or may not have been on purpose). Will have to add it next hallows eve to the watchlist.  Pop it in your mouth and swallow it whole.

Time Slip by MagicProject Films - "A secret research station is no longer accessible. A special unit is to clarify what has happened"

Here's a bit of sci-fi/horror with some incredibly detailed sets, lighting, effects and elaborate costumes.  Camerawork is a mixed bag too often focusing on highlighting the props and sets instead of telling the story.  The basic story gets across without dialog and the music (credited to the director) is well done.  With all the ominous music I found myself wishing for a more horrific/supernatural adversary but the cliffhanger ending was pretty cool (and an impressive effects trick as well).

They Are Here by Neil Tucker - "Set in the not too distant future a small band of renegades fight back against the overlords draconian parking regulations"

They Are Here is an impressive project that checks a lot of boxes in what I want to see in an IClone feature.  Voice actors, check.  Sound design, check.  Set and character design all look very nice but the thing that really caught my eye was the mix of live action and IClone 3d that is at times quite impressive.  Live action videos with wind blowing through the trees is mixed with giant robots run amok looking to punish the CG characters.  The effect works very well in the most of the scenes and is a definite highlight.  While I found the premise to be ripe for satire (a parking ticket too far) I thought the story involving the characters was a bit lacking.  Still, the amount of time and effort put into the project is evident and those looking to match real world imagery with cg should take note.

Cirque du Cimetiere by Tom Jantol - "My entry for Reallusion's short movie contest. Entirely made of 2D photos, thanks to magnificent software "Cartoon Animator 4".

This one is a Cartoon Animator 4 short but I'm a big fan of Tom Jantol's visual poetry so I'm there.  Here Tom gives us a rollicking circus in the cemetery full of iron jesters, harlequin and clowns, performing rabbit and giant pogo fish rides.  My favorite aspect of this incredibly short (1:08) treat is the layered approach giving depth to the the scenes and the transition/editing between the crazed images.  Style for days.

She is Hulk Girl by IcloneCartoonStory - "This is a short film from the HULK comic book universe.  The movie was created with IClone."

I started watching this one and quickly realized I was familiar with the director (see "Scream in the Night" below).  The corridor and shiny surfaces were the first giveaway but also the very good expressions and impressive style is shown in both flicks.  This one holds up even better than "Scream" with a good creepy beginning that heads in a different direction by the end.  My only real qualms are that the title gives away the would be twist and the ending left me wanting more (usually a good sign for the director.).  The ending is very cool and the limited action is very well done.  Excited to see more from this director!

A Glint of Hope by Job Michiel van Zuijlen - "One day, a man, mourning the death of his young-departed wife, finds unexpected consolation at her gravesite."

This relatively simple and short  poetry reading offers up something we rarely see in an Iclone movie -  emotion.  And it does so quite well with excellent sound design, subtle camera play (the slight camera jitter worked for me) and colors that brighten as the overall tone of the video does the same.  It's a well made contemplation of mortality that avoids any mawkish or cloy sentimentality.  Good stuff!

Rollercoaster by RichardMorlet - "Welcome aboard my rollercoaster"

Exactly as the name implies this is a roller-coaster simulator as you might have seen on your phone or perhaps at Dave and Busters.  Yes, its more of a tech demo but its a short (1:11), fun one that is pretty well made with particles aplenty (pause those underwater moments to see impressive detail flashing by) and solid sound effects selling the experience.  I found myself wishing this was filmed using Iclone's  360 panorama render features.  Pretty nifty.

Last Chance by Samin Javadian -  "Jimmy is driving in the middle of desert and passes the last chance gas station and 2 miles away he runs out of gas."

I remember this director from the outstanding and zany short Dead End.  His latest feature is visually stunning with a level of detail that makes you ask "what was this created in?" even though you know it was Iclone.  Really good production values, wonderfully detailed sets and costumes that drag you into the world, fluid animations with outstanding camerawork.  I watched this one on my big screen and it was a super cool experience.  The tone of humor was different from the style I'm used too.  This reminded me at times of the comedy style of Roberto Benigni (or perhaps more like a french mime than an Ringling Bros clown if that makes any sense) with caricatured actors, cartoon sound effects and silly cartoon animals but a laid back pace that never seems in a hurry yet never left me bored.  A definite Iclone highlight!

The Insider by MBJ Animation - "A sentient machine flies into an enormous alien creature."

Matt Bisset-Johnson is one of my favorite weirdos with his funeral dirge electronica music (musician, character creator and animator!), constant state of hectic motion and crazy, blobulous, flexi-muck characters.  Often the camera dances and the characters run amok squeaking and squelching and sizing each other up before lighting one another on fire or tossing someone off a cliff.   When MJB adds in a semblance of plot that a square like me can understand, its golden.   With "The Insider" scientists have discovered a giant entity in space and sends the Chatbot 4000 to investigate.   Its 2 minutes of Fantastic Voyage in the third circle of purgatory.  Distinct, original, weird, deranged?  Color me enthralled!

Star Wars: Heir to the Empire by DarthAngelus

Chapter 1 - " Chapter 1 of Heir to the Empire, by Timothy Zahn. Adapted into a short fanfilm."

Of the first three episodes this has the best visuals with excellent set design, character design and very good space combat and effects.  Most of the episode takes place within a sparse war room/museum with a blue character with glowing red eyes (General Thrawn - apparently a fan favorite) that allows for truly striking scenes.  The voice over work is good but the sound design  had issues with the spaceship hum at times overpowering the dialog.  This was much more of an issue on my television than on my computer headphones.  The visuals and ominous general Thrawn get things off to a very good start.  As an aside, this episode generated more than 100K views and 1K comments on YouTube.  Most impressive.

Chapter 2 - "Chapter 2 of Heir to the Empire, by Timothy Zahn. Adapted into a short fanfilm."
In this episode we are introduced to some of the classic characters from the original trilogy who are excellently cast with standout voice acting (specifically Luke, Ben, Han and c3po) that recalls the original actors.  Sets are again lavish and interesting and its a lot of fun to go back to the Mos Eisley cantina though I wished the band was performing.  By this episode I believe that the director has stated he is using mo-cap for the body performances which work quite well though I found some of the facial animations to be a bit wooden.

Chapter 3 - "Chapter 3 of Heir to the Empire, by Timothy Zahn. Adapted into a short fanfilm."

This episode maintains the high production values but lacks the visual flair of chapter 1 and the recognizable characters of  chapter 2.  The story is also a bit frustrating, introducing more new characters with few obvious ties to the other episodes.  That said I realize that adapting a book chapter by chapter can be problematic in theatrical releases four months apart.  Any issues I may have, I'm definitely looking forward to the next episode (set for 2/26/20).

Hi Ampertox, glad you are enjoying the projects from these very talented directors (definitely not me!).  Many of these movies can be found in the Reallusion TV page.  They don't promote it very well but its a good collection of projects if you have time to peruse through them.

Star Wars Kochek by IcloneCartoonStory - "As a big fan of the STAR WARS series, I decided to make a fun music movie.  I hope the fans of the series and the people who don't like STAR WARS have fun for a few minutes.  Enjoyable viewing. "

After catching up on Darth Angelus' series (with another episode coming out this week) I stumbled onto this fun as hell dance video from ICloneCartoonStory.  I love the kinetic, bouncing camera that really pulls you into the song and Luke's wooden waxy face feels like hes in on the joke.  This is the third project from ICCS to make the list and my favorite of the three.  Big smiles all the way through.

Time Slip Part 2 by MagicProjectFilm - "After the fight with the Velociraptor, a T-Rex comes through the gate. In this episode, the mystery surrounding the star gate is solved."

The second part of this sci-fi flick has improved camera work and some dialog from an promising protagonist  to push the story along.  The dinosaurs look quite good (and who doesn't love a T-Rex taking a rocket to the face!) and the solar scene is the star of the visual show.  The brevity of the episodes and the solid production values  beat out the derivative elements and leave me wanting more.

Mad Maxime: Revenge by Rottadamic Movies - "A virus has turned the world in an post-apocalyptic wasteland. The wanderer Maxime stumbles upon a scientific community who have created a cure. But, they are under siege by a large group of bandits. "

Creating convincing action scenes in Iclone is hard.  The timing, camerawork and editing all must be on point to really sell a fistfight or shootout.  For someone to have created a 60 minute Iclone film that keeps you watching and nails 7-8 really good action scenes and to do so on his first Iclone project is pretty amazing.  Mad Maxine slaps the carpocalyptic action of the Mad Max movies together with the mutant monster mayhem of the Resident Evil series and stars two leather bound, boulder boobed ladies that would make Roger Corman proud (Corman only wished he could make a film this packed with ass kicking, head exploding, road raging action).  The pacing of the movie is strong with only a few minutes in the middle seeming to lag.  This was then followed up with a really effective underwater scene that was very unique in Iclone productions.  The two main driving scenes are incredibly well done with great sense of speed and danger.  The middle segments in the RE underground bunker had a good sense of place and the hand to hand combat in the bunker generally worked well (though certain scene combat animations could have been improved).  Camerawork and editing were both exceptional at times feeling like it was cribbed directly from the source material.   Overall I am hard pressed to think of any better made Iclone action feature.

Zudberry by Anold Sch

This 3 part German language (with subtitles) Zombie fest starts off with a set of excellent meteor disaster scenes straight out of a Hollywood blockbuster and then throws us into an adventure in a secretly quarantined zombie infected town following a set of undercover reporters.  The story is familiar but well written and paced and there is a definite sense of dread and anxiety that the best zombie flicks create while the ending delivers a satisfying action based release of all that tension.  One of the most noticeable aspects of this production is the level of gore I've not seen in an Iclone film.  Bodies tear, squish, explode and splat in impressive quantities and with equally impressive visual effects (re: blood).  Its certainly not for all but those that enjoy a splattery horror flick will definitely enjoy this one.

Wasteland Runner by Mary's Puppet - "A short animation created using iClone 7 and HitFilm Pro."

I love the editing and transitions of this super short and exciting project that moves from the thighs of the runner to his whole body with the camera full of motion, then showing us why he's running with an increasingly numbered threat and finally tossing in a whole lot of explosions.  Everything flows very well and its like pouring a pack of poprocks in your mouth all at once.  The credits ran just about as long as the action (which seemed a bit excessive) but that one minute was worth every penny.   Very good!

This is an excellent start to what looks like an impressive and exciting project packing 3 distinct scenes into 3 minutes with breadcrumbs leading you through the maze.  While the movie starts off with a very nice run running animation much of the the other animation and the expressions strangely remind me of claymation in a way that really works for me.  Truly excited to see the next part.

Star Wars: Heir to the Empire Chapter 4  by DarthAngelus - "Chapter 4 of Heir to the Empire, by Timothy Zahn. Adapted into a short fanfilm."

Chapter 4 brings back Grand Admiral Thrawn from chapter 1 and feels like its finally getting into the meat of the story.  This chapter has really wonderful set architecture, particularly the interior and exterior of the Jedi's temple.  However, a rather long dialog takes place in the temple and I found myself wishing for some more interesting camera angles that would take advantage of the set and be a bit more varied and compelling.   The voice acting remains very good and the actors have chops that really elevate the characters but I thought that the sound mix was once again muddy with the voices rather quiet and turning up the sound resulting in a prevalence of bass and ambient sound.  Animation seems to be improving with the mocap movements feeling natural and not drawing attention to any flaws.  Overall each of the previous chapters has been excellent and this one continues in whats shaping up to be a must see IClone series.

Dogs Breakfast by MBJ Animation - "A low polygon dog goes on an adventure in the Hall of Cosmic Insanity."

Another spoonfull of crazy from Matt Bisset-Johnson featuring a dog that looks a bit like Mr. Peabody putting on a disguise to visit the Hall of Cosmic Insanity.  While many of Matt's project proceed like a dirge, this one has a tippytoe kind of feel but still has that frenetic camerawork and editing and the characters are straight out of a claymation nightmare.  In times that make little sense I find good comfort watching a booger monster turn into a chicken...

Adding to your collection, @thebiz.movies, one I've just found and it's very well done: Changeover

By thebiz.movies - 4 Years Ago
Changeover was something of a time capsule back to 2015 with what I assume was Iclone 5.  Not a lot of story beyond dragon attacks, heroes to the rescue and then some channel flipping weirdness and the older generation assets show some age but generally well made scenes and editing.  Made me think back upon some of the older classics that managed to tell complex and well told stories with so much less than we have now.  Thanks for the recommendation ampertox!

The Room by Vlado Dzanko - "This is a short I Clone Movie. All Effects made by IClone 7. Story and Idea by myself . Have fun."

A simple set up (man vs robots) in an urban ruin serves as a showcase of popcorn particle effects and some pretty solid action sequences.  Truly take the time to count the many popcorn effects from the dust floating in the air to the lasers streaking the screen, gunfire lighting up scenes, explosions, electrical charges and more!  Its all very impressive.   Characters are detailed and pretty cool looking and the editing/camerawork is frenetic and drives everything forward at a swift pace with a couple of well measured down moments.  Another talented action filmmaker in our midst.

I A by Marc Takerkart - "An enigmatic robot is activated by a scrap dealer. But the robot knows a lot..."

I A is an outstanding first part to what looks like a super fun scifi extravaganza (french language, turn on those CCs) with big effects and crazy characters.  Indeed the characters stuck out as intricately designed, professional looking and very unique (varied colors, appendages and species) while the sets were also detailed and lovely.  Animations were smooth (mocap) and the popcorn fx work here is truly top notch.  There was a flight scene that I thought lacked a bit of intensity/speed but otherwise it was a really exciting and unexpected ride.  Looking forward to seeing more!

Alien: The Message by direx1974 - "This is a fan film. There will be no monetization or any other form of financial gain from this. Every rights from third parties belongs to them and I really hope they like this movie, because me and my buddy were working very hard on this for last three years."

Three years in the making, The Message is a definite high point of the Iclone 7 life cycle.  The story is a cat and mouse game very similar in tone to the original 1979 film with perhaps even more of the horror vibe thrown in.  Its claustrophobic and tense with phenomenal sound design incorporating some of the original soundtrack and sound cues and has very good voice acting and loads of atmospheric foley.  Set design and lighting also stand out with the interior of the spaceship feeling real and loaded with details and nooks and crannies for the protagonist (and the Alien) to hide within.  The sets were riddled with late 70's analog technology that helped set the tone of the original film and they were flawlessly lit with flashing strobes, deep shadows and slimy surfaces all looking pitch perfect.  I never saw any of the seams you might find in an Iclone feature like pass through, stilted animations or shot selection that is likely hiding some transgression.  Instead the production drags you in and holds you for the 40+ minute runtime.   Searching for critiques I felt the camera was a bit too active at the beginning but seemed to settle down a bit as the film progressed and the Alien was a bit too anthropomorphic running and jumping around like an action movie badass.  That said, animating the motions of a human are hard enough but animating an imaginary creature must be more than a little bit difficult.  Overall, file this in the Must See list.

I'm bumping this up, because I missed this useful thread until I searched for my "A Glint of Hope" movie, which is mentioned in here. Thank you!

Also, new users often ask for samples of iClone movies, claiming they can't find any, so here is their chance. It wouldn't hurt to make this thread sticky.
By thebiz.movies - 4 Years Ago
Hey Animagic, glad your enjoying the thread.  My time has been split between other things for the time being but soon I will be "Catching up on some Iclone Movies"....hehe.  I know the Heir to the Empire series has at least one chapter out I haven't seen yet.  I would also say that the Iclone TV channel seems to be headed in a different direction that doesn't highlight the average Iclone user making stories as well as it used too but more the expert user or the content highlights and the "look whose using iclone" type of videos but maybe I'm wrong.  Will have to look at this a bit more soon.  Are they being more selective in their choices?  While its fine for them to employ whatever strategy they find best fits their needs, I think that would be a shame as its hard to find a good selection of Iclone flicks by just searching youtube.

EDIT - Taking a look at the page tonight for the first time in a few weeks there seems to have been many Iclone videos released recently.  Perhaps I was just seeing a backlog or delay in new releases.

I would rather not sticky this thread as it is just largely my opinion and while I try to look at movies that impress me or have some interesting characteristic that made it worth watching (for me) I do tend to have a bit of a critical streak that may not meet RL's goals.

Good hearing from ya!

There's a lot to love here starting with the 5 minute story that wastes little time or excess frames to the crisp visuals, impressive character models and dark humor.  Voice overs were a touch flat but fitting of the Dekker-esque character.  Three weeks of work?!  My oh my.  The skills within the community continue to exceed my expectations.   Still, my thoughts on this one keeps coming back to a tightly wrapped little story that delivers big fun in a short time.

Time Slip Part 3 by MagicProjectFilm - "Dr. Seynour and Colonel Forsythe travel the dimensions and are stranded on board the Nostradamus spacecraft, but they are already expected."

After two fun, easy to follow episodes, this one takes a turn into space combat and confusing plot points.  The space combat and the special effects in general are very good with ships flying through wormholes (super cool!) and impressive ship interiors and laser armada fights and I often found myself wondering how the scenes were created.  However, I just couldn't understand the what and why of the episode which stands as a bit of a problem.  It could be that the reveal of what is going on will come later but it was a frustrating watch with little exposition to guide my way. Hopefully the story comes back around soon as I think this is a gifted filmmaker worth following.

How about a Paul Keenan Double Feature...

Samaritan by Paul Keenan - "NSFW - MA (Contains Nudity) SF Animation created with iClone7 and Character Creator"

This dreamy and surreal scifi(?) has loads of moments floating through the ether on the way to a log-line that reads "bisexual vampire from mars seeks friends to watch classic movies."  Very cool music as well reminded me of tangerine dream.  This flick strangely (visually and content wise) reminded me of some of the great poetic MovieStorm flicks from years back.

The Consumer By Paul Keenan - "My first digital animated short"

An excellent mix of 20's silent films with 70's B movie schlock with some great dramatic camera angles to tie the room together.  Short and sassy like my grandma.

One Minute by anold sch - "My view on the Corona-Pandemie .... even if we are isolated at home .... our spirit is still free"

As the name implies this is a 60 second ditty that's one part inspiration and 3 parts exhilaration.  Cool settings and smooth, clever transition effects fly by as anold lets his imagination loose on the unsuspecting Iclone software.  Definitely a change up from his previous zombie gore fest (the 3 part Zudberry mentioned previously) and a welcome short worth your brief time.

Its been a while so its time to catch up by checking in on three recent Iclone music videos from 3 great directors.

Sapana (Dream) Music Video by Samin Javadian - "I had the opportunity of making this music video for a rock band. When they told me the story, I was interested. There was a kind of mixture of sadness and strong emotions poking us. It was touchy. And after 3 monthshere you go."

Here's the latest from Samin Javadian, the Director of the excellent "Last Chance".  This one is less caricatured than Last Chance, enjoyably depicting people and places different from my American world view.  The two paper airplane flights were particularly compelling sequences accompanied by soaring segments from the music.  A fair amount of time was spent setting up the relationships of the characters but little explained why the character left his family.  Perhaps the song explained but the language difference left me puzzled.  Still, a dramatic and enjoyable short from a talented creator.

All the Colours of the Dark by Dark Machine Pictures - "First venture into Blues for DMA and a damn good song it is too! "

I have a special place in my heart for folks who create their own music and that's case here as Bezzer (Dark Machine Pictures) enlists the help of the amazing Peaches Chrenko who belts out her version of "I killed my man" blues in a Blade Runner-esque world straight from Dark Machine brain.  Gotta add this song to my playlist.

"Fjun - Your Name" might very well hold the "Best Iclone Music Video" belt for a long while.  It has a distinct semi-cell shaded style, cute characters and a story pulling hard at your emotions (especially if you get emotional when you leave your cell phone at home).  However, the editing might be the star of the show with no shot seeming to last more than 2 seconds and each short clip alive with vibrant colors, sparkling particles, interesting backdrops and wonderful transitions between the scenes that pull everything together while whirling you round and round.   Here's the text book.  Class is in session.

Cliff Chase by 7imprice - "A workflow project between iClone, CC3, UE4 and Daz."

Great visuals (rendered in UE4), expansive and impressive environments, smooth animations and groovy music fill out this very fun creature feature.  One of the more impressive shorts I've seen lately.

Its that time again...time to catch up on some Iclone movies.

Kenshi: The Blood Prince by Aviticus Dragon - Two criminals are on the run after escaping from Emperor Tengu's prison. Lord Ohta assigns a loyal Samurai Captain to hunt them down, and return them dead or alive. Seeking shelter in a cave, the two criminals venture further into the depths, only to awaken their worst nightmare.

Loads of adventure here with great sets, lighting, fluid animation and some pretty cool first person camera work.   The dialog is a bit clunky at times but the monsters and action sequences more than make up for it.

This guy is GOOOD! I don't know who he is, he has only five videos, I've watched all of them, but definitely it's high-class. I subscribed to his channel only to find out I was his first subscriber, such a shame for such good videos Sad Worth watching, believe me.
