Weight map question

I am successfully importing Daz G8 characters into CC3 with cloth, hair, shoes etc. using the transformer function. I  bring in clothing made with Marvelous Designer from the ,obj with which I bring it into Daz Studio (and it works perfectly there with Dforce animation sim).
Problem is the imported cloth (through transformer along with the character) shows up fine in CC3 where I bone weight transfer and conform adjust. But there is nothing in the UV in CC3 when I try to create a weight map that reflects the texture - and there is no diffuse/texture map after transfer.
I am not technical and cannot figure out how to convert or extract the UV in order to create the weight map in Gimp? It would seem the texture map/UV is buried in the .mtl file that accompanies the .obj?

I have an app called UVconverter from which I can extract a UV map from the .obj model - but where do I put it or how do I get it into CC3 and eventually iClone?

Any help or insight would be much appreciated.

You might want to stay away from UVConverter Pruiz https://www.virusresearch.org/remove-uvconverter-exe-malware/

If you need to create UV maps there's nothing I can recommend more than 3DCoat (the least expensive version will work fine for this).

Yet another potential problem that could be easily solved by having the alembic import function, especially if cloth simulation is being performed in Marvelous Designer. Until then...

Since you do not have Diffuse texture map, select Metallic or Roughness map in cloth materials. UV reference button would be activated. Click it to open to see how the UV looks like. Is it blanks?

Both Metalic and Roughness display blank black in UV.

Hmm, so then the UV maps for cloth imported to DAZ from MD do not make their way to FBX, when you export it from DAZ as it seems.
Or the Transformer is failing to recognize UV for that piece of cloth.

Try exporting cloth from DAZ separately and import to CC as an Accessory.
And to be absolutely positive about presence of the UV maps open FBX in Blender (if you have it installed) and check for UV.

I see no reason to redo the UVs, if it had traveled fine from MD to DAZ. Specially that it's not a walk in the park without some experience.
Better to troubleshoot and find out where it was lost.

Or just go straight from MD to CC3P with your OBJ.

Mike sorry to bother you - but I can't find your tut clip where you use 3dCoat. Could you please send me the URL. Thanks for your help.

Mike it's the clip where you actually use 3dCoat on a layered dress for weight mapping - I can't find it anywhere - but suspect it's buried somewhere in the 'if you have stuff that doesn't work from Daz to cc3 . . .' file.
