Is iClone needed for export?

Last week I purchased iClone 7, 3DXchange 7, and Character Creator 3 Pipeline because I was informed by the sales representative that they were all necessary for creating a character and exporting it to another program (Blender). However, I've been creating characters, exporting them to ZBrush, exporting them to Blender, and not once have I needed to open iClone 7 or 3DXchange 7. It seems iClone is primarily for animation.

Are iClone 7 and 3DXchange 7 necessary for the creation and export of characters in CC3? Am I missing something here?

EDIT:
I should clarify, I'm only interested in using Reallusion software for character creation, not for animation. Animation, rendering, etc... will be done in other software (Blender).

I'm afraid you were misinformed. For your purposes CC 3 Pipeline is sufficient.

You can try and contact RL Support to request a refund for the programs you don't need (https://www.reallusion.com/CustomerSupport/UserEx/QForm.html).

This page provides the various options: https://www.reallusion.com/store/product.html?l=1&p=cc.

As you can see, CC is sufficient for character creation. As addition, I can recommend the Head Shot plugin to create faces from photos. It works very well.

Hmmm, maybe I should work in RL Sales? Tongue

Ah, thank you very much for the information.

Think you need 3DXchange and Character Creator Pipeline to export. Iclone is for animation however, so no need for that. But what I understand is that even if  you don't open 3DXchange, CC use it in the background to export (or is used as a key that allow you to export to third party formats)

I deactivated and uninstalled iClone 7 and 3DXchange Pipeline and found I could still export to FBX and import it into Blender. I noticed no difference in CC3 functionality at least as far as exporting is concerned.

You may have noticed that anything with "Pipeline" in the name exports.

If you only need to export CC characters, CC3 Pipeline is all you need.

Hmm. Maybe you only need 3DXchange if you want to import your own prop, hair, cloth or anything that you created in a third party software or market like Daz.

CC3 Transformer still works as before.
