I believe the "non-standard" aspect of how this Z-brush artist rigged this character is mostly from not having done it in a T pose. Now I'm trying to learn of_any_ way I might be able to animate it rigged as it is,  - so that the figure can tilt its head downward, making it appear to be looking at something at its feet. I've been looking unsuccessfully for a solution in iClone 7.7 and I've been equally unsuccessful in trying to convert it to a non-standard character in 3Dxchange pipeline. The artist who created and rigged it, suggested that treating it as a prop might make some animation possible or maybe some re-rigging might help.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Apologies for the double insertion of the image and the incomplete appearance of that uploaded image.

You just need to pose the character into a Tpose during the characterization step.
