i have 1 one wish, and 1 dream for next Craytalk release :

my wish :

full support of UTF8 and chinese SAPI voice

my dream :
option to export the animation in a poser7 scene animation

:-)
By creeksquid - 18 Years Ago
My proverbial three wishes are :-)
1) Expressive TTS
2) Runtime/Dynamic rendering of script X applied to model Y via some type of API (either ActiveX methods, action script or other SDK)
3) Macro and "batch" processing ala Photoshop
By Tfis - 18 Years Ago
- adding more morph targets to puppeteering mode
- each morph target has it´s own timeline, with the ability to change the type of interpolation between keys (linear, constant, bezier...)
- testing in puppeteering mode should playback previous recorded animation (switchable).
- time display should be switchable to "seconds:frames" (depending on frame rate set in output dialogue)
- more distortion functionality for teeth ("pseudo" 3d rotating (x/y axis)).
- not preloading any project, when starting the software
- rendering compressed (LZW) tga files (it´s not always funny importing 1.5GB tga files into compositing suite).
- some templates for proper custom eye/teeth importing would be nice

How about assigning the alpabet keys to each phonic, so the lipsync word can be acurratly typed in when cleaning up the initial rough auto sync.
By tim_20090922190903731 - 18 Years Ago

Great Software. Here are my Requests:

1. Side view fitting and Side lipsync ( Not profile)
2. 3/4th view fitting and 3/4th view lipsync
3. The ability to lipsync across multiple fitted sequenced heads(side, 3/4th and front views) in the same animation.
4. Direct export to Photoshop and Afterfx.

I realize 4 is a stretch. But it is crucial that 1 and 2 happen in order to make it feasible to 2d animation work.

Regards

My number 1 wish for CrazyTalk is the same wish I've been wishing for a long time... The ability to animate mutiple heads in a single photograph, without having to do multipass and exports out to a seperate video editor.
By m1ke - 18 Years Ago
I'd missed this section of the forum (blame TINY blue print on a black background - very difficult to read) - so here I unashamedly repeat a previous post so that everything is 'in one place'. (I agree with all previous 'wishes' as well!)

1. The option to SAVE as well as the current 'SAVE AS' (which is labelled as simply 'SAVE' - but is really a SAVE AS option).

2. Better control of the the Timeline marker - the mouse must be positioned with some precision to avoid 'dragging an area' instead of simply scrubbing the timeline.

3 The ability to remove random movements of the face during editing (they confuse what is actually on the timeline) Note: This is probably already an option - I just haven't found it yet. !! (Note - A reply has shown where this option is now - thanks!!)

4. I'd like to see more - or different - moutrh shapes 'clues' for speech. The 'automatic' mouth adjustments for an added waveform etc can be pretty inaccurate, and it seems to me that many shapes are conmstructed by using several of the 'basic' mouth shapes. In fact, the mouthing expressions used diring the 'test' (in particular, for the vowels - 'A, E, I, O, and U' ) are exfcellent, but don't seem to be duplicated by the phenome patterns given. They obviously have been created wsith these - so I'd like to see how!!

5. The ability to resize some of the screen - in particular, the timelines - to occupy more of the screen. I use a dual monitor system and split the display over two screens, but it is not possible to extend the timelines vertically, so each property line can be seen clearer.
By ljw3321 - 18 Years Ago
I would like to see ....

a way to add animation clips to billboards and props

a way to move and control particles like the actors (to place them just where you want)

a fade in and out control for actors and props (that can be controlled on the timeline)

Thanks

What I would love to see in the next GREAT version of Crazy Talk
1. The ability to cut and paste, unlink sound with puppet motion
2. Multiple face morphing on the same image
3. Some body puppet movement
4. Fade in / fade out
5. a way to turn on and off when you want voice associated with puppet or as some other sound. All in all, I am having such a GREAT time with Crazy talk.... Cool application
By ethorson1 - 18 Years Ago
I would like to be able to easily lip-sync to a pre-recorded song. It would make CR5 much more fun to use.
By citylightsvideo - 18 Years Ago
Transparency support for both imported image files, and for output of video. Supporting alpha for imported TGA files, or even PNG, or TIFF, or native Photoshop, or any number of other file formats that support transparency would make life much easier and make the workflow much more efficient for setting up the models. Masking it in your mask editor is like pulling teeth, especially for animals with fur.

Supporting Quicktime output would make outputting video with transparency (alpha) a no-brainer.

Without these two features, your program is never going to be taken seriously by professional video and effects people.

There have been some great Ideas posted already, so I would just like to second a few and maybe add a suggestion or two.

I found these comments to be a great addition to Version 6 of Crazy Talk.

1. Assigning alphabet keys to each phoneme. - I'm not sure if this is what was implied, is so please forgive me...

A)To clean up the lipsync audio it would be a tremendous time saver if we had the option to click the assigned Phoneme in the timeline editor once and be able to just type the desired phoneme.

B) A Double click would open edit panel as it does now.

C) Right click would pop a simple context menu the would let select a phoneme.

2. 3/4th view fitting and 3/4th view lipsync, was also mentioned. Having just a little more flexibility in movement of the characters would help a great deal with the quality and believability of the CT Characters.

Having the character turn further left, right up or down would be such an asset. Even if it was only limited to characters that were brought in CT6 with front and side profiles.

3. Better control of the the Timeline marker - the mouse must be positioned with some precision to avoid 'dragging an area' instead of simply scrubbing the timeline. Was also mentioned. This is a must, simply making the Timeline marker a little bigger would help.

A) The ability to bump the timeline forward or backward with the arrow keys would be great.

4. Not preloading any project, when starting the software. This does gets a little more annoying every time you load the app.

5. Direct editing of Models in your photo edtiting software. It never fails, you create or tweak a character in Photoshop.. Get it set up in Crazy Talk and notice a change you would like to make, you then have to set the character up all over again in Crazy Talk.

6. Layers! Something was also mentioned about layers. I understand and own Iclone for full body characters, However if CT 6 could just give us little more control over the Torso and arms it would take this app to a whole new level.

If CT6 could somehow be tied to Iclone and allow the torso or body to be brought in on an additional layer in the timeline for CT6 would be great.

Thanks for your time / keep coding
VM

Thanks to everyone for the great suggestions. Your ideas will all go to making a better Crazytalk. The development team review all the wishful features for possible inclusion in future releases.

Thanks again and keep 'em coming. ;)

hi world,

here my dreams about next crazy talk release :

- possibility to import poser 7 characters (kind of 3d object)
- possibility to export the animation in flash (not flv) with backgound alpha (transparency)

For this both features, i could purchase the soft for 100€ more !! you can't imagine the tme i could gain with this !
By creandofx - 18 Years Ago
Hello All! I think one of the biggest improvements that crazy talk need's is to make smother lines like feather if you gonna make eyes or mouth, other thing is that there's no way to make the hole in the mouth transparent, If I need a character that is facing side, I can't make a simple hole in the image when It talks. Other thing is make a tool that can select all the equal phonems for example all the W.OO to modify its general value. Sorry for my english.
By laughingcrows - 18 Years Ago
You have a lot of great requests here. Especially in Post #10505. Sorry if I repeat any ideas.

-Profile and 45 degree shot
-ability to scrub timeline with sound
-pre-build and save lip-syncing charts for different personalities or reoccurring characters.
-ability to adjust one vowel and it apply to every occurrence on timeline.
-export to series of PNGS (pngs are smaller than TGA)
-choice of different phoneme engines.
-ability to create exaggerated morphs. Like very expressive, cartoonish expressions.
-ad "eyelids" to the advanced facial settings tab. Sometimes eyelids get stretched too much. It would be nice to be able to tweak this some.
-export screen in full resolution to single image.

Bottome line: Give us a killer, powerful timeline so those who want to can tweak all they want.

There's a little phoneme program called Papagayo. Check it out. It's simple but gives you complete control over how phonemes are broken down.

I love Crazytalk and can't wait for Crazytalk 6.
By BeruPly - 18 Years Ago
That's my number 1 wish, too: multiple heads :P that would be very cool.

Maybe a less crazy, just "normal" windows interface. Otherwise I am actually very pleased with the features of crazytalk.

Taking and building on the text input concept of Papagayo, it would be a great idea to have an auto text drop down menu for anticipated text input, a dictionary for spell checking that automaticly saves every word entry for future retreaval and application.:w00t:

yeah, in at least 10 different northern european languages and compatibility with other than microsoft and cepstral voices ;) or auto-text making :w00t:

Can sequence TGA output meets your needs so fay?? :)
Or you need some kind of advanced flash output.

Crossing my fingers for these three wishes. Any feedback from engineering?
By a.bresler - 17 Years Ago
I know lip synchronization has been mentioned quite often, but I can only stress that one of my biggest wishes it that additional phonemes for non-english languages would be added. It is not easy to mimic mouth forms for phonemes - German has about phonemes and CrazyTalk offers less than 15...
By bob.dalton - 17 Years Ago
Here are some CrazyTalk features I would like to see added:

1. Ability to pause the audio recording. It is very difficult at times to have to do a voice recording all in one take. Being able to pause and then start up where you left off would be very useful!

2.  When recording it would be useful during the playback if you could do the following:

     a.  Click on the track where you want to start the playback back from. It is very tedious to have to listen from the begiining all the time.

     b.  When you run into a portion of the playback that is not so hot you could re-record over that portion.

3.  On the timeline it would be very useful to copy and paste from other productions you have already done in the various sections of the timeline.

4.  The mild-intense bar setting stays where you set it until you change it again.

5.  Your emotives choice is remembered by the application until the next time you change it.

6.  The application remembers where you have decided to store your project files and and where you have decided to save your videos.

7.  The application remembers what your chosen video settings are until you change them again.

8.  More audio editing capabilities in general.

"Animation Mode" where the lipsync will 'jump' from phoneme to phoneme.
:) :w00t: :) :w00t: :Whistling: :) :D :) :) :)

In many cases the lipsync is very weak, and if the lips were changing more drastically frame to frame the illusion that the character is talking would be much more believable. (so even just an "Exaggeration Mode" would be helpful, the easiest way to sell the illusion that animation is talking is to simply have the mouth closed when it's not talking. The lips don't even have to come close to matching the words, but as long as the mouth is closed when nothing is being said, you can usually squeeze buy. (dubbed anime for example, or any dubbed movie really) So if there is a greater diffrence between when the mouth is "open" and when it is "closed" that would be a start.

And "Animation Mode" however, could also open up the door for custom lips sets, where you replace the lips in the picture with a different custom or premade set. This could turn crazytalk into a lipsync engine like Magpie Pro.

Also, it's been said before, but it's worth saying again, it does not make total scene that when using text to speech, it has to render the audio of the text and then use its audio recognition software to generate the lip moments. The exact words are right there, map the words to the correct phoneme and you will have a perfect lipsync. (easier said than done, but again, check out the Magpie Pro technology)

Here's my list of requested features (btw, I'm using the trial version):

Include a seperate set of points for the eyelids and a seperate set of points for the eyes. So I can get both realistic blinking and nice eyes for eye movement.

Numeric input for the sliders in the Facial Expression menu for muscles and facial features.

Speed slider/input for muscle movement.

More (custom) phonemes to support other languages and/or option for language selection.

X-Y constraints for puppeteering. I just needed to move the mouth wider, but also ended up with a skewed jaw...

Regroup an ungrouped motion clip.

Having multiple overlapping motion clips.

Mouth wideness based on volume.

Combine (pre)recorded voice with text input (like Poser's lipsynch) for more accurate lipmovement.

Option to have a slight open mouth for the none phoneme. Speakers often don't close their mouth completely when having a short pause in their speech.

Resizable menus. Everything should be resizable.

how about the ability to do quicktime H.264 export in 720 and 1080 HD
By Gorz - 17 Years Ago
I would like one very simple and very useful thing, I would like to be able to save different light settings. I mean all the light in a sepparate file.

Like Armstrong talked about, sometimes our project files get rely big and need the tune down of all effects and lighting. If we than could restore all the lights again just by loading them it would be perfect.

Gorz

By NestleSnipes - 17 Years Ago
That is an excellent idea
By Cricky - 17 Years Ago
Gorz, have you tried actually saving the lights? It already does this, for an entire project. I do it all the time. Save it, give it a custom name, re-use again.
By Paumanok West - 17 Years Ago
Cricky,

Ha! You thought of developing a fonts pack and beat me to it.

Best wishes

freshnews

EDIT: What??? You thought of a lightning pack and beat me to that? This is worth looking into.

EDIT EDIT: Let me rephrase that. I looked at your lightning. Its artistic potential is uncertain but interesting; worth looking into. I also think it's cool that you've already produced it.
By animagic - 17 Years Ago
I would like a separate blinking channel or maybe combined with the eye movement channel.

The reason for this is that other facial animation interferes with blinking.  If you record your blinking first, it looks fine on playback, but then, if you add other facial animation the blinking often gets slowed down, presumably because the the eye open key (after the eye closed key) gets removed or something.  The only way to fix it is to manually correct the facial animation track. It's possible, but much nicer for the computer to do the work...

BTW, this is not a hardware issue, the system is fast enough (i7; Vista 64-bit; 12GB...).

I know it has been said.. but audio scrubbing would really help.

Hi:

HAIR Control!

Would like CT 6 to have functionality similar to mouth and Eyes for HAIR!. This will open new posibilities. Just being able to add different hair styles like Afro, Wet and the like...

Ditto Power's wish list...

also....some more resizing options for shapes in the props section. Being able to resize a single face of a polygon shape as opposed to the entire polygon would be nice, even if lathing and cutting tools were not possible. Resizing single facets would be a tremendous help.

I would like full 3D head generation with the addition of optional profile photo, so head can be rotated from front to profile, up down in Crazytalk as in IClone. I would also like to export the head from Crazy talk to DAZ Studio to DAZ M4 V4.

All the attention should be put on crazy talk animator. as this program does the same thing with crazy talk so please try to enrich crazy talk animator and make it the best 2d program in the world. i believe you are one step closer of achieving this goal.
what's the point of buying ct when i get cta ct should be drop cos cta is the future before other 2d programs copy your technology.
By winterswimmer - 15 Years Ago
I wasn't sure whether to buy Crazy Animator, or CrazyTalk 6, but eventually I bought CrazyTalk 6 Pro, for a number of reasons. E.g.
I want the best possible results in creating faces that talk (designing my own faces, mostly). I can't take the risk of buying a program which is not dedicated for THIS task.

But I also want to make a suggestion for one important improvement, that CrazyTalk badly needs at the moment.
CrazyTalk needs the ability to import phonemes, in a simple symbolic language for which third-party tools can generate "lip sync codes".

This is very important. Now... I am a PROLOG / A.I. programmer, also using other languages (and lots of pure Assembly language sometimes); I can write code that generates lip syncing script, (based on pure text only). And I also feel that the "next generation" of Text-to-Speech software will include lip-sync generation as a standard, some day.

You lose nothing by enabling people like me, to... effectively work FOR you; no payment is necessary for such programming efforts. :)
Please consider it, it is a win-win situation good for all of us! (more later...)

_________
P.S. I am also (almost) completely bilingual, in English and in Greek (ex-UK-resident Greek).

I've already used your demo versions to create some videos, with thousands of views in YouTube, etc. I even tested CrazyTalk with Greek speech, and it worked; with lots of corrections by hand, of course, but... not much more than needed in English.

I bought CrazyTalk 6 Pro + Toolboxes today, because of much appreciation for this program. I've also seen CrazyTalk animator, but as I said, it is outside my main field of interest, which is generating convincing Talking Faces, for use in Videos and narration, etc.

Facial and full body mocap are certainly a possibility for future upgrades. However at the moment there is nothing to report in this direction.
