Headshot Haircut

Hello,
I've recently purchased the headshot plugin.
It works very good but the automatic generated hair is only visible in the scene mode. when i try to preview render it with the iray plugin it only shows the model but not the hair (only scalp).
I am very new to the iclone and character creator software so it is probably something that i am doing wrong :).
(I didn't know if this belongs to the iray top or headshot topic)
My other hair that is directly from the character creator library is showing just fine in the iray renders.

thanks in advance

I have the Iray plug-in, and will try to test this this evening (6 to 8 hours from now), unless someone else does it before then.

I’m interested in the answer to this too as I had the same problem but like you I am also new.

Two problems are here, which need to be addressed by RL.

1. The Opacity slot is filled with the same 32 bit PNG file as diffuse and the alpha portion of it is used.
My guess is, that it is OK for the base Universal PBR MDL, which RL is using for everything.
But here they are using custom Traditional Hair MDL, which looks like have some problem identifying that 32 bit PNG file.

So unless you work out opacity slot image, the problem would persist:

2. Even after conversion, the hair still does not look right because by default RL hair MDL has Opacity multiplier is set to  0.7. So it has to be set to 1.

Bottom line, RL has to swap Hair MDL to Universal PBR for hair generated with plugin or create a special MDL for generated hair.

Unfortunately this is a known issue. The workaround for now is to save the Diffuse map and then re-assign it, or drag it to an different channel and then back again. This will also correct the Opacity channel issue.

Thanks for the quick responses. :) The workaround works easy and simple thank you.

Kind Regards.

This doesn't completely fix it:
Pic 1 is the shader setup
Pic 2 is the closeup showing the transparency of the texture. I can't figure out how to completely remove transparency.
Any ideas would be helpful!

You can give that a hard edge by using the alpha threshold in the material settings. Or actually hiding the mesh in the edit mesh tools.

Thank you for looking Rampa! Do you mean that will remove the visible skull underneath the hair? You can see the curve of the skull pretty clearly under there in the iray render.

From my first post:

Here is the screenshot of hair MDL multiplier:
