Dear iClone Users,

We have now released the 7.7 update for iClone which as added some exciting new features plus the usual bug fixes. However, as always we still need your assistance to help us track down any bugs, glitches or other annoying issues that may still remain.

Important: If you do find any bugs, issues or glitches in iClone 7.7, please can you report them first in the Feedback Tracker. Then feel free to discuss the issues in this thread but do try to include a link back to the original Feedback Tracker report or your tracker number.

As always it will help us greatly if we can keep all technical issue discussion in the one place (this thread). This will help the development team keep track of any problems.

Please do try to provide your full system specifications and a detailed description of the problem when reporting issues. If you can provide steps so we can try and reproduce the problem that will be even better.

Iray Preview rendering is a lot slower now.   
In the past when I do 20 frames, it takes 3-4 seconds.  now it take 15-30 seconds.

Also, can a minimize button be added to the Iray Preview rendering screen?

Is it the same scene? Times can have a lot of variation depending on what is in the scene. Have you checked if the maximum number of cpu cores are veing used?

It's the exact same screen,  it's running 4 cores.  
I need to change it to 8 cores in 7.7 and then it's faster, but still slower than 7.6.1
and I won't be able to use my system then if I put it at 8 cores.

The shaders look good. But when I bring Kevin or Jody in, or any of the shader guys I get the following

Can you check your Preference setting? Try to switch to the minimal mode to test.

Hi, yes.

I used the Hub and installed everything.

The items it says it can’t find is actually on my computer as well, in a folder in Reallusion file as well. Not the one it’s looking for, sort of like the installer created a new file somewhere else.

I noticed my IMDL files aren’t in the section as well, but not linking for iclone to find them. (It’s happening in CC as well for the eyes)

I’m just looking for manuals on how to show the files to link under the “browse” or find button... I can bring the file to it but can’t get them to link.

Tried Minimal mode,
Quick mode.
and they are all slow.

I rolled back to 7.6.1 and things are flying again..   so  something really made it a lot slower :(

Just a quick note on my issue. Iclone was looking for the d drive for some reasonI uninstalled CC3 and iclone, Then used the hub to reinstall; it asked for a default directory in c drive. All is working fine now. Thankyou and loving the upgraded skin

The 3D view even at its best quality in the preferences and set to High it has horrible anti aliasing... as in none. Every edge of every prop and avatar are all hard edged. A HD render doesn't have it at least.

This 3D view is making me seasick everything is waving like crazy as the camera pans.

The choices here are...
Peter tells to set something in some settings panel that will fix it
or
off to Feedback tracker.

So I made a comparison, and see the difference.
Both are set for High preview.
If I change it to minimal,  7.6.1 is very fast.   7.7 is still slow.

With 7.6.1  it goes very fast.. and moving through the scrubber, and the update to Iray preview render is almost instantly

I dont know if you copied the full log for 7.6 but in 7.7 it seems you have caustics enabled, maybe that is the difference in render times

I'm an not updating until i finish the 2 projects i am working on. So won't be able to check it any time soon. Regarding thw comment you posted in my FT entry check your scene manager to check the visibility of your lights, what you described there seems more like newbie issue than a technical one

I rendered some of my benchmark projects, which I usually do with every new release, but there was no difference.
In your case it is twice as slow (maybe different frame, but still):

1.14  IRAY   rend info : Received update to 00020 iterations after 8.029s.
VS
1.14  IRAY   rend info : Received update to 00020 iterations after 15.965s.

The only thing I noticed is large discrepancy in number of lights:
1.14  IRAY   rend info : Emitter geometry import (85 light sources with 45012 triangles, 1 instance) took 0.02s
VS
1.14  IRAY   rend info : Emitter geometry import (66 light sources with 7316 triangles, 1 instance) took 0.00s

It seems in 7.7 less lights were identified, yet it is slower.

I suggest to submit that project to RL and let them identify why it is rendering that slow.
They know what they have changed and where to look for the potential source of the hiccups.

I see that now yes,
I did 2 tests and both from the same frames

in 7.7  when it's pre rendering for the viewer, I can't use the scrubber to go through the frames,   I can maybe do 1, but then it freezes.  I really need to wait till rendering is done.

idk where I can open a ticket..  I went to a page where you could post something where people can upvote..  not sure if that's the right place

Cloth fitting on some characters is faulty in the latest release.

I noticed something unusual yesterday when was trying to fit the jacket, but did not pay much attention and ended up editing a mesh.
Today it happened again with the default female. And also I have seen a thread where somebody else reported having difficulties fitting a t-shirt.

So here, I dug up an old project with the default female and then added the same female from current release.

On the right is an *old* default PBR female.
On the left is new default female with Digital Shaders.

Both avatars are in the same pose.
Both avatars and their shorts HAVE "Hide Inner mesh" checked.
Calculate collision in Conform does not do anything.

Note: I did not check other characters and I hope this not a wide spread problem.

If you want to replicate just bring her in and apply 13.Sit_04 ffemale pose in iClone (or some similar pose in Character Creator.)

Just a quick note on my issue. Iclone was looking for the d drive for some reasonI uninstalled CC3 and iclone, Then used the hub to reinstall; it asked for a default directory in c drive. All is working fine now. Thankyou and loving the upgraded skin


RL, or anyone, is there a known way to configure locations for materials in a scene. 
I have some scenes that had this in latest release, so I reload the textures and save project. But then each time it keeps asking for D Drive.

I have all my stuff on C, D-drive is used for other stuff outside of iClone....
like FL Studio!.....

The Curve Editor has stopped working for me with 7.7.  No curves and none of the functions seem to work.

The Near and Far values for the Clipping Plane for a camera can no longer be set independently. 
The default is a range between 0.1 and 999.0 (used to be 1 and 9999 for iClone). When changing one of the values, the other one follows. For example, when setting Far to 9999, the value of Near becomes 1.
One undesirable consequence is that when setting the maximum value for Far (99999), the Near value becomes 10, thus cutting off the nose of a face when it is close, for example.
As this is pretty disastrous, I'll enter this in FT later.

BTW, the same issue occurs in CC 3.2 (which didn't have a Clipping Plane before).

IMPORTANT: Older projects load with the intended Clipping Plane settings for the cameras, but don't try to change them, because they will get messed up for long ranges. Saving the project without touching the values retains those values.

Seems like some major issues are going on with lightening reading all the posts.
Might explain why my render had less lights..  
Opened a ticket,  where it's shown,  including slow render times.   idk  if less lights can cause that.
All I know is that I stopped using 7.7,  since it's a pain to work with now.
I hope they update my ticket with an update.

In the meantime,  is there a location where I can download all my  7.6.x products?   
Don't feel like restoring an PC image to get my 7.6.x back to work on things.

Has anyone else noticed that blinking (including auto-blinking) seems to be broken with the new facial expressions? Go to Face Key and set an expression preset (e.g., "Happy_1"), then, under Modify, dial up Eyes Blink. The eyelashes detach from the eyelids, and the eyeballs poke through.

Hmm... The problem seems to be mostly confined to the base avatars that come with iClone (I did a 100% clean install with the release of 7.7, so these are the avatars that ship with 7.7); namely, "0.Jade" and "1.Base Female." So I guess it's not as big of an issue as I thought:-) Still, sending them to CC3 and applying "Correct Eye-blink" doesn't quite fix the problem (see attached pic), so RL might want to look into in case it's an issue for other avatars as well.

With iClone 7.7
The 'reduce idle load' doesn't work for me, in fact if the scene is complex enough I get 99% GPU usage. Really annoying to hear the GPU fan spin non stop. 0% GPU load when I click on anywhere else than iClone.
Combine that with DOF not working, and Expressions track giving ghost keyframes.

Feedback has been fed.

Back to 7.6 for me
I now wait for the 7.7 patch.

Have you installed or uninstalled the Kinect plugin recently? We found sometimes the Kinect plugin (install or uninstall) will delete the necessary information cause this kind of path issue. Can you give me the reg file follow this (https://www.reallusion.com/FeedBackTracker/Home/HowToGet) thanks

At least I am full speed again,  and will be fixed in a new patch later on.  (preferences menu is having an issue).

I already reported the Clipping Plane issue in this post: https://forum.reallusion.com/FindPost428115.aspx and also in FT #6458.

I sincerely hope that this will also be fixed in the upcoming patch because it affects the use of cameras for large Clipping Plane ranges (i.e., you cannot set the maximum range of 1-99999).

I wrote this on the wish to prove and send it the same day but...

Expression keyframe ghost frames: If I swap my own custom characters to a default iclone character the problem goes away, so that is where my participation ends. If it still occurred then I would write up the bug to the feedback tracker. Reallusion reserves the right to remove my licence on the basis of what I create with it according to the licence agreement and that will deter me to limit my ability to provide assistance. I'm not saying I'm doing anything bad but it makes me desire my privacy.

DOF: Someone else already mentioned having trouble with it so I will not make a duplicate. I will visit feedback tracker to vote on it instead. So at that point I uninstalled iClone 7.7. as I have work to do that I hope will be done before the end of this year.

I can no longer use my laptop's 3TB USB drive as storage for my iClone custom folder since the iC7.7 update, all of the save "+" buttons, except for the Project button, are greyed out and not functional.

I can confirm that this issue is directly caused by the iC7.7 update because I uninstalled iC7 then reinstalled using the "C:" drive for the custom folder and the save "+" buttons are now visible and functioning. 

Problem is that the laptop's hard drive is only a 237GB drive, so I can only put a few things in the custom folder to work on.  Besides that I use the 3TB USB drive as a "go-between" to the desktop machine to keep both custom folders the same.  This was all working fine prior to the iC7.7 update.

On another note, I haven't bee able to use my Reallusion USB Drive for my desktop machine since February for the same reason... all of the save "+" buttons, except for the Project button, are greyed out and not functional.  Since I had enough room on the "C:" drive I just gave up trying all the workarounds, after weeks of several unsuccessful attempts I just use the "C:" drive for my template and custom folders now.

I have ordered a larger internal hard drive for the laptop so I can use the "C:" drive for storage on it as well as it appears that this issue will never be fixed.

I did not install 7.7 (decided to keep working with 7.6) because of several issues reported on the forum,
mostely some minor ones, but enough for me to wait for the next patch.
So , i can't report issues because i simply do not use it to avoid trouble...

On my PC I have all content on an internal drive other than C: and that works as well.

Been like that since 7.6
You can make the character looks at a cube and have the cube parented to what it is suppose to look at as a work around.

There is a new feature in the timeline to trim a clip, that I mistook for shortening and lengthening the clip to adjust the timing, which of course did not work...:unsure: It's all good now.

Hi, definitely, there is a bug with video textures and background.

Since the last update, the audio of all video background and billboard won't play. It happens for the second play, the first time,it works and since I  replay, no more sound; Of course, i verified all background volume at the application.

Manytimes, the rendering won't work. It starts to render, and stuck on 0% and I have to restart iclone and it works. 

Do other of you guys meet this kind of problem ? I can continue my work but I never met this before

It's nice to see so many bug fixes in this release, However, there is a *very* critical bug that's been around for a few releases now and basically makes reach effectors unusable in certain situations. See here and here (I think there might be a couple similar reports on the FT as well).

Long story short: Baking reach keys (e.g., by right-clicking a motion clip and choosing "Bake Reach Key") causes the avatar's hips, and sometimes feet, to be nudged downward. This also happens when you save a motion clip with Animation -> Motion Setting Options -> Bake Constraint Key enabled. It happens whether or not the avatar uses reach targets. The effect is cumulative, which means if you plan to create variations of a motion (and variations of those, etc.) -- exactly the sort of thing iClone excels at doing -- you're going to run into problems.

Peter (or anyone from RL), is the dev team aware of the issue and is a fix forthcoming? I'm about to pull the trigger on the add-on deals, but if this bug is unfixable (e.g., if it's an issue with HumanIK or something) it would be a dealbreaker for me.

In the update the "edit animation layer" is different.  Before, you'd get that pop up window ( like with Direct puppet, only no preview/record bother) with a figure and the different parts you can select, with IK/Fk options, etc.  Now, all you get is the bones on the character itself.  
How can we get that pop window back?  Is it buried in there or just gone?  Mostly I animate in Blender so I find iclone fiddly in places and now without that pop up it is more so.  It is a fantastic application, but some things are just different to me. I don't want to tread on toes,
I want to have that edit animation layer pop up window!

If I want to replace an existing texture,  I get the popup to select  "Linked "  or "Unique".
If I select Linked,   Iclone keeps freezing up  at 1%.


Also  Consolidate doesn't seem to do anything.   I don't see a difference.

Since the latest patch i took the plunge and went for 7.7 a few days ago...
Everything went fine.

I personally choose "Unique" because a "Linked " texture can"t be edited without being made "Unique", also if you move the files to another drive or accidentally delete them, you will have to try to hunt them down or recreate them!

Each time you open a project with linked textures that have been moved or deleted, you'll get a popup window asking you to find them.

If it's just one or two textures missing that's not such a big deal, but if there's a long list of missing textures it would take too long for me to hunt them all down so I've learned to unlink all textures in my projects.

In the preferences window there's a check box for enabling "External Textures", If you uncheck that box you shouldn't get automatically linked textures, but the projects created before you uncheck it will still contain "Linked Textures" and you'll have to do a lot of "Unlinking" or replacing if the files have been moved or deleted.

Maybe someone will create a python plugin that could unlink all textures in a project, that would certainly be a big time saver for me since I've move most of my files to another hard drive. 

Check the online manual for more info on this, I'm certainly no expert on this... yet! ;)

Actually Linked and Unique definition is different from described. Both are stored within the project as embedded (not externally).
The only difference between them is, that the Linked texture saves project space and memory by being stored as a single image and all linked materials are pointing to the address of that image.
While each Unique texture image is stored separately (even if there are 2 or more of the same).

External texture on the other hand is created each time you select an image while the "External Texture" check box is selected in Preferences.

As to problem pka4916 mentioned about iClone freezing at 1% while Linked is selected, I cannot reproduce it. On my end it works fine even in complex projects. Might be something particular project related.

the 1% seems to work now, after I did the new update.  so who knows..   it goes slowly i noticed, but that might be normal.
The only issue (and I never reported it, now to think)  is that I need to restart Iclone  since loading a project gets stuck at 25%  
this started since 7.6  and meant to search for it, bur never did.

I have a problem with rendering of hair if the camera is close and the render settings include Super Sampling or are set to Optimize with Full Screen Render.

I noticed this with a project that I have been working on which did not show this problem before. In 7.7 it was still OK, so it must have been introduced in 7.71.

Here is the correct render (no SS or Full Screen):

The hair is the new Paris Tail hair by SWAM, but the same problem occurs with other hair. I also noticed render problems with hair in CC.

I will put this in FT later and provide a simple project. To complicate matters, it SEEMS to be related also to projects saved in 7.71, as the previous version of the project did not show the same problems.

I have the latest Studio driver (441.66).

Please do try to provide your full system specifications and a detailed description of the problem when reporting issues. If you can provide steps so we can try and reproduce the problem that will be even better.

WAS NOT LISTED IN THE HUB. Found it on the site and downloaded it. I tried to install it from the splash install box. then NADA thing happens...nothing happens. So I went to the forum and found nothing on it at all, I Wasted almost an hour for nothing... . LOL Why wasn't this included in the last Ic7 update? Is this a plugin or addition to the Content folders?

This is a plugin for both iClone and CC. I downloaded both installers and using the Windows "Run" for each was able to use each after opening iClone and CC. They are not listed in the Hub, but it was opened during the installation process.

The Smart Gallery Plugin is available from the Reallusion Hub. If you are not seeing it, try clicking Refresh. There is a separate plugin for iClone and Character Creator so do install both.

Since updating to 7.72 getting this when launching iClone. As you can see in the tray Reallusion Hub is not active but get this message.

Edit it has just done the same with latest Character Creator also the hub message pops up but again to showing as active.

Found out the problem it was the Smart Gallery in both IClone and Character Creator. This is a feature that I had no interest in but looks like I am forced to have it activated or suffer the hub error message popping up.

Hi Duchess

The Smart Gallery is a separate plugin and so wouldn't have been installed when updating to 7.72. If you don't want to install the Smart Gallery you shouldn't have to and iClone and Character Creator should work fine without it. Did you install the Smart Gallery plugin or is the issue occurring without it being installed?

On the top toolbar change your graphic setting to HIGH. This will improve the quality in the viewport. You can also do it in Preferences (CTRL+P).

I am using Windows 7 soon to install 10 but not yet.
Through the Hub I uninstalled both Smart Gallery Plugins.
Then Closed the Reallusion Hub and Launched iClone again I got the message that Reallusion Hub had stopped working. The same with Character Creator.
So I then launched the Hub and it was showing in the tray right-hand corner launched iClone and this time no message popped up.
Now in the past it made no difference to the programmes opening just fine if the hub was not active and running anywhere but now with the latest versions and the smart gallery I am getting this problem.
So I now have to have the Reallusion Hub sitting in the tray so that I can start either programme without the error pop up
What a pain this is.

Great to hear you have had some success with this problem.

Can I ask why you don't want the Reallusion Hub open? 

You can turn off the Reallusion Hub from automatically launching when Windows starts, but the Hub is intended to open and stay open when you launch any Reallusion software. Having it open shouldn't cause any performance issues so it won't hurt to just leave it in the tray. You can always close it again after you finish with iClone or Character Creator.

Hi all,
I installed the Smart Gallery plug-in. Everything installed correct. All my content is listed (as Pack).

Guess I am more confused.
IT downloads everything again?
I played with it this morning,  and  maybe i missed the point..   Is this just to see what you have?
Do you still need the standard filter dropdown/selection pane?  (that is still very very slow, when I search for a prop)
I thought this was a replacement, and speeds things up big time,?

EDIT:
Seems like it's picking up most of my content.  I see a lot of items as not downloaded, but when I look in the standard section, it's all there.   
Also seems to be missing complete Scene files.

This looks like this is like the Daz Library,  very welcomed, and fast..

Just when I thought IClone keeps getting better I am confronted with a new problem which I don't understand.
I have a scene, lit with imagebased lighting. I added a directed light and a rim light to the scene to enhance the character appearances. After getting everything right in the viewport i now want to render a mp4 file. But as soon as I hit the render button the additional lights seem to be disabled. I made sure there was no animation key frames for the lights attached and there is no part in the visual tab that changes values over time. The thing is, it worked pretty well before in previous sessions. The only thing I did was changing the angle of the lights and trying the new shadow values for lights.
I tried to render an old file without changing a thing and everything is fine. But as soon I touch key and rim light the final rendering turns the light off leaving only the iBL light on.
Any clues?

Hello,

I guess it possibly caused by some of the plugins .dll, their version not compatible with your iClone. 
Generally, if you install them via Reallusion Hub should not have this issue.
But if you always install it from Reallusoin Hub, it may be a bug that we don't know.:crying:
Suggest you submit a 
support ticket and giving the detail system info via this tool. I hope we can figure out your issue quickly.

I have had several times now that dropping and dragging a prop into my iClone scene locks up iClone. The only way to continue is to end the iClone task and relaunch. These are just basic props that come with iClone.

I've had several issues with that.
I had a ticket open for that a while ago, and  it seems to come from the Iray Plugin,
Try uninstalling that and that might resolve it...   at least for me.

I thought I should at least keep iClone for just posing characters... Not even good for that.
I used this character in many scenes never had it get all twisted and distorted like this.
The rig has failed!

How low can my expectations go? I give up.

image: Control rig is out of scale after changing the avatar's scale.
I won't report it cuz "we can't reproduce this" will annoy me to no end. So I'd rather uninstall.

Good evening everyone.

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this but found no other thread with 7.73.

I am currently experiencing iClone just freeze, hangs, and thinks forever before it closes down the program. It happens when I have loaded my scene for the: "how to animate walking down the stairs challenge". I tried to copy the animation I made from the edit motion layer tool, that's when in freeze and kill the program.

Rampa told me to uninstall 7.73 clean the reg to get rid of all, also "temp" folders from ---user --- AppData, then reinstall 7.72 and not from the hub.

Anyone else experiences the same issues and maybe have a solution because so far it didn't work. I have not tried uninstall, because I rather not go through that process again, because its very time consuming, so last resort.

Since the latest update 7.73 and after installing Iray and headshot

Ive been getting bsod crashes

Iclone or CC , becomes non-responsive when rendering ,or doing general stuff. Usually its fine to begin with but after awhile things start to become sluggish and then the program starts to hanf . If I leave it, sometimes the program starts to respond again. alot of times the program will crash but it wont just boot me back to windows - everything hangs  My laptop will sometimes throw up a BSOD
Ive done memtest86 , tested videogames , tested just using daz3d and rendering. Everything is fine, until I have iclone and CC . 
It might just all be coincidence and I have hardware failure somewhere, but just wanted to post it incase others also have the same trend.

Im doing a fresh reinstall of all reallusion products to see if that helps.

It didn't work, so I think I will do a full reinstall and see if that goes.

I did a full install and that also doesn't resolve it. I'm using the latest Nvidia Studio Driver.

There is no clear pattern, but I've noticed it mainly when drag/dropping something into a scene, including replacing a character.

BTW, in my case iClone hangs; it doesn't crash.

Rampa told me to try, just uninstall, and not reinstall from the HUB but from my account and use the original software 7.72 version, because 7.73 was just minor updates. I haven't tried this yet, but maybe this could help because right now it occurs a crash way to often and annoys the hell out me when trying to work, can't get anything done without app crash.

Unfortunately, the Kinect Mocap Plugin is not part of the Motion Live system so can't be used at the same time as facial animation or hand animation. You would have to record body animation separately.

Yes you can use both Live Face (iPhone) and Leap Motion at the same time with the Motion LIVE 3D plugin.

When using Orthogonal camera, switching to Bottom view (from Views menu - there is no shortcut) and then using Orbit tool (C), the scene is randomly becoming overwhelmed with Directional light under certain angles.
To restore the scene you have to switch to some other View Mode (A, S, D, F, G).
I believe someone has reported similar incident, when the scene turns shiny white.

As I said, it is hard to catch, but for me it only happens with Orthogonal Camera > Bottom View > Orbit Tool
Scene intensity does not matter, it could be a complex scene on just one avatar.

Yes you can do that. Any recorded Kinect mocap can be saved and then used with Motion LIVE 3D recorded facial capture.

Your iPad should provide TrueDepth camera in order for Reallusion's Live Face app (available on AppStore) to work.

Back to actual issues.

I have had occasional hangs, where I do something and iClone becomes unresponsive. It was difficult to find a pattern, but it seems to occur when I leave iClone open for a while without any user actions (while I do something unrelated) and then after coming back to iClone doing an Undo or some other action related to the timeline (I think it involves mostly the timeline).

It seems that in that case iClone has trouble updating the undo repository in temp and then just hangs. I have moved the temp folder to another disk but that didn't make a difference.

This is not related to any specific project, except the projects are fairly large (around 1 GB on disk).
