Hello,
I bought this squirrel at Sketchfab. It looks quite good, but I would like to improve the tail with fur to make it look a little more real.
Does anyone have an idea how best to do this ? I tried with Blender to put hair particles on the tail. But for some reason there is always an error message in 3DXchange when importing.
I am grateful for any help.https://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/f5638b76-c5f1-43f3-87f9-0278.jpg

What exactly do you mean by hair cards? Never heard of it. Can you please explain that in more detail ?

It needs to be mesh and weightmapped to the squirrel
to avoid the vertex pulling that weightmapping needs to be done on a zero length fur with a length morph of the same vertex order that can be loaded in the replace mesh option in 3DXchange
being a 32bit software it may be a bit much to import fiberhairs
I have done this with Zbrush fibermesh which retains its vertex order with length (using DAZ studio for weightmapping) but they are heavy loads

You could also use "Displacement and Tessellation" for the tail.
Here is an older thread in the german forum with a similar solution for an "ancestor" of your squirrel: LINK ;)
