Can you do text effects in CA4 like in Cloud Animator? Elastic motions don't seem to work for text... I've seen the video about converting all text to images in order to apply elastic motions, but can any entrance/exit/animation effects be applied directly to text?

Elastic Motions can only be applied to Props.  Text objects (for example, SFX > Special FX Template > Text Comic…) are not props.  Those objects have filenames such as "00.Bubble_01.ctText", while props (if saved separately) are of style "Menu.ctProp".

If you want to use Elastic Motions to animate a text object, you will need to: 
  1. generate your text object in a suitable graphics editor and export it as PNG
  2. bring that file onto your canvas and select Prop as your import option
  3. apply your elastic motion(s)
NB  when you create your text with a transparent background, which you will presumably do in step #1, exporting as a JPG is no use as that format doesn't support background transparency, while PNG does.

That sucks! I wish it worked like Cloud Animator with the text effects. This is way too much work when dealing with lots of text.

Hi,
If you have the CTA4.1 pipeline, you can try this feature.
I try to create a prop from Photopea (v4.1 new feature), then import to CTA and apply an elastic motion, it is work and convenient.
And you can modify the text if you don't close the Photopea editor.
