"It depends."

If you do the "iClone Render" option (and I despise that terminology, and said so to Reallusion), it will export the Iray .mi files and start rendering, and then you can continue using iClone.  But if you close iClone, it will also stop the Iray render process.  (I reported that, too.  It should continue with the Iray render.)

My preferred mode of operation is to use the "Save MI Scene" option which will export all the Iray files, and then I use the "Standalone Renderer" to do the Iray rendering.  That way the Iray session is completely independent of iClone.  You may open or close iClone without stopping the Iray session.  Most people will prefer to have iClone closed to minimize the load on your graphics card, and even if Iray runs, your iClone session might be sluggish and unpleasant to use while Iray is rendering.

If you use the "Save MI Scene" option, when all is done, you'll  want to manually delete the Iray "data" folders.

This issue has been confirmed and will be fixed in the next update (1.11). Thanks for the feedback. :)
