Prop Animation by Motion Layers

Hi there,

it would be quite awesome to be able to change prop animations by motion layers in iClone. Currently, this only works with actors. But some props have bones, so I presume it should be possible to animate them. The dialog for creating prop motion layers may look just like the motion layer dialog for the horse actor, ie. a tree view of the bones where you can alter the bone motion values would be sufficient.

Cheers,
Burkhard

Hi, your right, it is possible to do this. If you write a little script for the root bone, the prop will appear as a character and you can use the motion editor even if it was not a bipped one.

Will, do you mean an AML script?

Would also like to know the answer to this.

Is it perhaps an ini file that you refer to and if so what is the root bone hip pelvis butt:D

Just curious

I will soon give a little tutorial to do this. It is realy an easy protoclo to build standard characters with not bipped bones and a little ini file.

I will make a tutorial with a little worm with only 5 bones in it. This worm you can control with the motion layer.
