This is a strange one Bry. You are clicking on OK and not just closing the box? I am not trying to be funny but we sometimes do that in haste. Still! very strange not heard of this before.:w00t:

Hi brystudio, I had the same problem when I upgraded to Photoshop CS3. If I remember correctly, what I did was, changed my Editor to 'Paint', and saved and closed iClone. Then reopened and changed the Editor to Photoshop CS3. Hope this helps. Shy :)

Hi again, What you are doing is correct, I had a look at my own. Not sure if you run any other editors like Gimp or Paint Shop Pro......I'm pretty sure I got mine to work by changing it to a different program entirely first and then loading Photoshop CS 3. Hope you find a solution. Shy :)

I'm having the same problem in that my Texture editor was Photoshop CS3 and now it's notepad. Don't know how that happened. Before reading this thread, I did as Shy suggested, but to no avail, I even tried to see if there is an ini file that lists the Preference settings but I could not find or recognize it. I'm frustrated because the files seem to be all over the place with the new method for the installation method.

Just as an update. Still having the problem even after uninstalling and reinstalling iClone. To solve this problem FOR ME, I found edited the registry. Made sure that all of the registry entry for iClone3 were deleted and found the registry for the xml Editor. Change that to point to Photoshop. If there is a down side no the Text Editor and XML Editor are pointing to Photoshop. But this was the same situation as before, but I need the Texture Editor more than the XML Editor. WARNING _ PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT THE REGISTRY DO NOT DO THIS.

There is an entry in the registry for the image editor (listed for versions 3 and 4):HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Reallusion\iClone\3.0\ICImageEditor HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Reallusion\iClone\4.0\ICImageEditor
I thought there was, but couldn't find it at first.

I thought there was, but couldn't find it at first. Thanks zuijlen for the information. I found these entries. Even after deleting the entries for version 3 and changing the entry for the ICAMLEditor to notepad, for so some strange reason, the entry reverts back to gimp.exe. Very strange indeed. But as I mentioned earlier, the ImageEditor is more important to me (at this point) then the AMLEditor.

Good day, everyone, first post, you never hear from any lurkers until they have a problem. Has there been an easy solution to this situation uncovered? I am trying to change my texture editor in the preferences but every time it reverts to the old exe program. Much thanks if anyone can help

Hi mikemarkca. Sorry, I've not got an answer to your question but I just thought you ought to have a welcome onto the Forum. Have fun. By the way . . . I also think you ought to change your name to 'lurker'. I love that.

Thank you Gizmo for the warm welcome. I could be the Lurer at the Threshold, I think that's one of HP Lovecraft stories. I am a writer by trade and just starting to explore the possibilities of 3D animation and find some of the technical elements daunting although IClone is much more accessible than some other programs, everytime I open my Poser 8 trial my brain hurts. I love the potential of this software and am eager to translate some of my scripts into reality and rescue them from film/television development and option limbo. To start I have to get a handle on this technology, a bit of a curve, that last animation I did was paper cut out and claymation with a super8 camera decades ago lol.

mikemarkca (6/6/2010) Good day, everyone, first post, you never hear from any lurkers until they have a problem. Has there been an easy solution to this situation uncovered? I am trying to change my texture editor in the preferences but every time it reverts to the old exe program. Much thanks if anyone can helpmikemarkca, As of my original post, I've changed from Vista to Windows 7, reinstalled iClonePro and upgraded to iClonePro 4.2. With this I was able to change the texture editor and it did not revert back to the original exe program. By the way, welcome to the forum.

This is just a guess, but it might be a permissions issue for which Vista is notorious. Try running iClone as administrator. To do that, right-click the link or desktop icon you use to start the program and select Run as Administrator. Then try to change your editor in iClone and see if it holds.

Go to control panel, user accounts, change user control settings, (windows 7) turn slider to bottom.
Vista, Check the box to turn off :P
In the meantime a vid, using duchess110 ballroom dancing and firework display, back in Iclone 1.5 or 2006 :)

Thank you very much for the help folks. The run as administrator trick did the job. My appreciation for the iclone community grows every day.
