RAMPAAAAAA!!! FAN-TAS-TIC!!!!
2 questions :
1- Is your ship a one mesh ? 2-Can you show the weightmap image ?
Thank you a lot!!
PS: May you didn't notice but this physics makes sort of "woobling vibrations" on certain peaces. Very cool!

That was a great tut! I did notice that some of the pieces were intersecting with each other as they flew off. Anyway to prevent that?

For the weight map, it's just pure white. The ship is multiple meshes in a single model. That's why it blows apart. There are no sub-props, or anything tricky.
For the intersecting bits, you can turn on self-collision for the cloth when you enable the bake. If you do that, make sure you run it in "by frame" mode.

Cool effect!
One of those am I going crazy moments brought to you by Reallusion. You unchecked gravity then you had to uncheck it again but at least one can know with the video when it changed back, it's when you selected soft cloth, doing so rechecked the gravity.

Hi Rampa,
thanks for the tutorial, well done! One question, on behalf of making the tutorial even more useful: what would it be if instead fo soft-cloth physics you had used rigid body physics for the space-ship ? It would be cool to see a video that shows the difference so that people can also appreciate how do the two physic engines work in such a case. Only if you have time...:)
Cheers
Roberto

Hi Roberto. The ship is a single model in this case, so using rigid physics would just move it like a single brick. You could build a ship out of many separate props, or a combination of rigid props and soft props.
Most ship models you find will be single props though.

Very helpful, and a great way to use something in a way I wouldn't have thought to do so. Always pros and cons. Many thanks.

Finally i found some time to test this... :D Biggest problem was to find a spaceship that suits the needs to use this softcloth application. The rest was tweaking the parameters till it fits... Additionally i had to drag the ball in several directions so it hits every part that could move... So within a few frames the ball crushes back and forth through the ship. And the ship is sub-optimal to use this, the hull remains flapping around. So i had to burn it to make it look a bit natural and to have a reason to fade it out. Made fun! Thanx Rampa ;)

Here you can see how i moved the ball back and forth (even scaled ball bigger) within a few frames so it hits everything properly... The Spaceship is NOT made of several (sub)props, it is ONE prop with multiple meshes in a single model: https://www.cgtrader.com/free-3d-models/space/spaceship/exxon-cargo-starship--2

Now that python scripting in Iclone will be available to the users There will be many opportunities for Explosions that can even affect Avatars in Iclone.

Rampa is a Reallusion Master! Great stuff, Rampa, as always! Most useful for my sci-fi projects (which I've finally gotten back into doing now with Blender, iClone 7, 3DExchange 7 Pipeline, and Character Creator 3 Pipeline. Thank you for sharing!

Now that python scripting in Iclone will be available to the users [scip] Did you do this in the Blender?
