Lookin good, Alley.

A special request?

How about a nice Henley (banded) Collar?

And even more than that, for my character I need a shirt with the collar open wide and the lapels spread open, flat against the chest. ("Byronic" collar)

The style was favored by 19th century poets and sailors, and by 20th century rockstars (Elvis, Tom Jones, and many others).

I will do some research and give it some thought.  These shirts that "tuck in" were quite challenging.  None of the G3 cloth really allows for a tucked in shirt, so I used the bodysuit and some very careful texturing, bumpmaps, etc.  Texturing in light colours on the bodysuit does not work well, as it shows the chest muscles too much and doesn't look right.  I am assuming your poet's shirt would need to be white and "puffy".

So, would it need to tuck into the pants?

Well, to answer your question, I'm the odd man out, as usual, because of the bizarre (nonphotorealistic) way I use iClone. For example, adding puffiness at the waist line is not a problem for me because my use of flat colors and lack of shading can obliterate a boundary between the shirt and some additional shim (puff-out) object, rendering it invisible, when it would otherwise look bad, especially with a textured fabric.

Re: bodysuit, as a matter of fact, I'm now using the Superhero torso. Again, because I use Self-illumination exclusively for my render, the contour shading that would ordinarily cause the Upper to look like a bodysuit is absent. And I don't know whether you would be able to sell an Upper product based upon the Superhero. I don't understand those licensing arrangements.

The ideal product for me would be a collar that exists as an Accessory. This might not be as bizarre as it sounds, though. You might consider whether there would be any need by other users for a pack of interchangeable collars: Byronic; Henley (good for cowboys); Tuxedo Wingtip; ButtonedUp-With-Necktie; Hoodie/cape; Clerical (Priest)/Nehru; and possibly even Elizabethan. I don't know if that's feasible... just a thought.

Just for the record, here is the latest-greatest Byronic collar, pieced together with a lot of trouble using 5 shims. :pinch:

The rear of the collar was made in Organica.

The four parts of the lapels are capsules from iClone.

I guess the problem with adding accessories around the neck, is that they don't perform properly in animations.  I've made chokers and scarves, etc. - and while they look nice in a picture, they chin often digs into the accessory or in the item will disappear inside the chest, etc.  It doesn't happen with all animations, but it's the sort of thing that just gives you one more thing to deal with in your animations.  I've taken to making jewellery for the neck as part of the cloth now or making it right on the skin to eliminate this issue.

Maybe BB can make a cloth to accomodate this type of shirt - I can ask him.

Alley,

Very nice shirts and shorts. Guy's not bad either!!!

By Christy0 - 16 Years Ago
Great Alley, those tuck in shirts are brilliant and Asian faces too. It's great to see the iClone characters faces getting more life like as time goes by.

Thank you for the nice comments.:)

I messed a bit with a big collar.  I'd have to work at this but this was just done quickly trying a few things with the existing project.  So, with the right shading, etc., it might be possible to create the illusion.

Alley!

You are excellently productive and artistic!

Very difficult for any body to improve!

As I always say: It is not the mesh base responsible for the artistic qualities in textures. No doubt about Alley has made great artistic contribution to other mesh items. This time her work on G2 and G3 base from RL is astounding!

I would gladly cooperate with Paumanock's need for a special shirt. As I see it, texture solution does not work for him, because his rendering technique requires flat surfaces, with no simulated details or shadows. I understand you need a REAL 3D shirt with the collar wide open and floating above the chest. If Mitch sends me an actual picture (photo) of the item he needs I would gladly spend some time trying to make his desire come true!

Just have to write me!

Mike

Alley, your creations are always very artistic.

You make great Pack'z ! :)

By Alley - 16 Years Ago
Hood'z is now available at the Cool Creator Store HERE.  I ended up doing some bonus t-shirts and faces of different ethnic background.  So it's 5 hoodies, 5 baggy pants, 4 shoes, baseball hats made using the Jimmy Toon hat, 3 t-shirts and 4 faces total.

I am working on this pack as the business demand seems to be strong.  So these females are very professional and each suit comes with skirt, jacket and pant.  I'm not done yet, but getting there.

By afterThought - 16 Years Ago
Wow, Alley - these are awesome! :)
