Why do we have to pay for IRay in Iclone when Daz inc gives it to us for nothing??
Because Different companies have Different business models.
IMHO if Octane is included in Iclone, there will be an expectation
the RL will provide material conversion as they now do with the IRay
"supershader" in CC3 thus Octane in Iclone would likely be yet another Paid optional plugin that RL will have to commit to keeping current for tech support.
To say nothing of the various Iclone native particle effects that likely wont render in Octane
People who pay RL for the full pipeline version of Iclone or CC3
can already render in Octane
by sending their pre-animated Meshes to Unity as FBX or Alembic.
As well as having the option to render in any program that imports industry Standard formats
I get it.. Many Iclone users want better looking renders without leaving the ease& comfort of the core program , or waiting exponetially longer for Brute force path tracing with IRay.
The Reality at this point seems to be, that this is not part of RL's business /market strategy.
