May I extra install my Iclone 7 copy on my laptop for additional (separate) use when I am out of my PC installed Iclone?

Anyone from Reallusion, please?

Thanks

(I am not a Reallusion employee, but I know the answer anyway.)

You may legally install iClone on two computers, but can only use it on one computer at a time.

Perfect for desktop/laptop situations.

Thank you for answering my question.

How can you use the content on both computers ( if not mirrored) ?

Can you change the default content-folders in IC7 to look on i.e. an external harddrive or iCloud ?

I'd just grab a USB memory stick and COPY the content from one computer to the other.

Then I think you might need to do a "One-click Validation" to ensure the licensing is up-to-date on the second computer.  Not sure if that's necessary, but wouldn't hurt.

Other people know more about this than I do, so hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but that should work and would be a lot faster than using the Installer over and over again on the second computer.

Viking is correct. It is also best to have content folders local for the installation rather than trying to share.

Thanks for the answers, guys.

How do you set IC up to point at the contentfolders on the USB-stick ?
A workaround could be drag-and-drop from pathfinder ๐Ÿ˜Š

The path to the content is specified during installation, so the external drive needs to plugged in and have a fixed drive letter. It is hard to change afterwards. (Requires editing the registry, so not really recommended.) An easier way to change this has been requested many times, but no luck thus far.

You could use both iClone at the same time if 1 doesn't need to be online to be operational or 1 is on airplane mode.
If you have iClone 6 you can use both 6 and iClone 7 at the same time on the same machine.

I would not try to have iClone point to the USB stick.  They tend to be much slower than hard drives.  I was just saying to use it to COPY your content from one computer to another, rather than trying to download it all a second time.

No you're right, Viking.
I didn't read your post properly.

Okay, guys I got my answer.

I'll have to wait until IC8 is released to set up the contentfolders (yes, I could re-install IC7, but .....).
Until then I will use my pathfinder workaround ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thanks, guys - appreciated ๐Ÿ‘
