Probably a dumb question but... Is there a way to create and store bump maps from Daz characters to CC3? Seems like the characters have a bump map in Daz and it's lost during export.

If you added all of the materials in one folder when exporting from DAZ then you could just drag the Bump into the correct Map in CC.

Bump maps dont export from daz in fbx format for some reason. There is a workaround. Load character into 3dxchange and add the bump maps there then export as fbx(assuming you have pipeline) .Then Import into CC3 .

Only the Diffuse map is imported. You can add all the missing texture maps using the optional INI file.

Try the following:

• Open up CC3 and click on the Transformer button in the top toolbar menu and select FBX file.
• In the Asset Import Status Report put a check in Bake Body Texture and then click Generate to create an INI file.
• Leave CC3 for now and open up the INI file in a text editor.  In it you will see all of the materials applied to the character along with their texture channels.   This is where you can map the textures.
• If you are mapping a channel to a texture: use the file name along with its extension type in quotes.  For example: “DawnSEArmsB.jpg”, “DawnSEArmsD.jpg”, etc.
• If the texture is already embedded in the FBX file you can just fill in "Use Embed Texture".
• Fill out the INI file as much as possible and save it.
• Back in CC3, click on the Texture Profile load button to select the INI file.
• Do the same for Texture Folder, this time for the centralized texture folder where all the textures are stored.
• Set the Bake Map Texture Size to your desired setting.
• Click OK to start the baking process and afterwards you should have a CC3 character that has all the textures (Bump, Normal, Specular, Roughness etc.).

Or, as I show in the video above, use my plugin to automatically do all this.

That isn't possible for character textures sadly.

The Transformer converts the Daz Textures to CC3 Base textures. The Bump or any other missing texture map needs to be converted using the INI file method before they can be applied in CC3.

I don't blame you trying to promote your plug-in, but the INI file method is the Reallusion designed way of doing it for now. It is of course users choice which method they prefer to use.

I'm not trying to "promote" anything, just help folks do what is much easier and what your own devs are trying to include next time.  The more folks that try this, the better it will be in the next release (so I'm sure you want that as well).

So just a coincidence that immediately after I posted about the INI file you came back with your "Or you could use..." reply even though you had already posted about your plug-in already. :Whistling:

Either way it's good that users have choices on how to get their Daz textures in. :)

Just a heads up. His plug-in does use the Reallusion INI method. It just automates it for you. But if you prefer to take the time to do it manually then by all means , proceed.  But it is a free plug-in also. Glad he took his time to make it and share with us.
