Re texturing Eyes -- need help and pointers.

I'm trying to apply an Anime eye texture to my Iclone figure (imported from DAZ) and cannot figure out the mapping/layering system.  I'd like to be able to apply a different texture for reflection highlights (reflections are painted on for stylistic reasons), but however I configure and deploy the map to whatever component of the mesh, the reflection is cut off at the pupil, and outside the iris. I need my tiny reflection dots to go across pupil, iris and sclera.  No matter how I apply a map (to any component or all components), it doesn't work.  Any ideas?  Any tutorials?  I'm sure this is a simple fix, but after two hours, I'm out of ideas. I've done the Google extensively, seen a few but nothing seems to deal with this.  Character Creator is not an option.

TIA

PS -- Did get some nice results putting the reflection in the Glow channel.

Did you look at the tutorials Kai did on bringing Daz Genesis (particularly version 8) characters over into iClone?  He talks specifically about the eyes (because Daz eyes are just plain weird, and there are a LOT of overlays involved).  I would at least watch those carefully (perhaps fast forward to the eye part) as the new Gen 8 import process is really nice nowadays, if not perfect, and it does remap those eyes.

Thanks for the reply -- I'm checking out the tutorials now (I'm using DAZ Genesis 2) .  However I've actually shut off most of the layers, keeping just Pupil Iris and Sclera.  Even when I apply exactly the same map to all three, the white reflection dots gets cut off at pupil and sclera, and only appears on the iris.  Very annoying. :-(

More research.

Thanks for the lead, Kelly!

While I didn't exactly "solve" the problem I figured out enough to work around.  You're right about the mapping: Genesis 2 eyes are mapped in pairs.  To fill out the texture map, the iris and pupil are at the bottom (a pair), and the sclera are at the top.  Creating my own highlights requires four additions, not one.

Now I understand!

Thanks.

Glad you got it figured out.

It's too bad this stuff is so complicated, but the good news is there usually is *someone*, somewhere, that has had the same issues and can help.  (Now you're that guy :>Wink.

Yeah ... it's great that help is often not too far away on this forum ....
(Mind you, I don't understand a single thing about this ..... *maybe* someday I will) ..... Smile
