Dear iCloners,
For starters, we would like to thank everyone who have purchased the PopcornFX Plug-in and its content library for iClone before the official release. Your long-awaited PopcornFX particles solution has finally arrived, and it is really worth the wait for this spectacular iClone VFX upgrade!
Despite the expanded work schedule and technical complexity, we are truly happy to see this project grow each day. The deeper we go, the more amazing things we find and the more we wish to show you. However, before we meet the deadline for the end of December release, we have to pause and put this in your hands so that you can also experience the same joy we felt before the Christmas holidays.
So here is a brief summary of the delivery and the development status. More learning resources and commercial visuals will come after the release, so be sure to check back later.

Do I need to use 3dxchange 7 to use Popcornfx Iclone?
I got this in my email.
In order to install the PopcornFX iClone Particle Plug-in, you will need to update all three patches below, starting from iClone 7.2 iClone 7.2 Patch 3DXchange 7.2 Patch Character Creator 2.3 Patch

hello, the package that we got with the introduction of the plugin the bonus effects and learning projects and templates the set of templates for mesh etc all have watermarks. I also when try to verify get an error message telling me there is no information for some of the files and get a failure.

On the three sample projects that came with it, the icon just has text over it that says "get it now," and I'm not able to open the projects, it just links me to this website.

I can not installed it. It says i must have the Version 7.2 from IClone. Where it is?
I only have the Version 7.1.1116 in the German Version of IClone and can not found an Update.

I got an email with links to updated iClone, 3DXchange, and Character Creator.
I've downloaded all three, but based on problematic reports so far, I'm delaying doing the actual installation.

open iclone and check for updates, should direct you for icv7.2 do the same for 3dxchange, and CC v2. For popcornFX check out your account pages at Reallusion under orders and activation

SAME HERE!! watermarks.. they won't go away.. 1 click verification, or content activation and still watermarks. thumbs go from "new" to "trial"
I'm starting to think the watermarks are the new particles LOL.

You can download the PopCornFX Editor for Free that includes a few particles. No watermarks appeared. The effects in the editor can be used in iClone7.2 as an import; although they will not render when used. Already reported as a bug. Issue 3706

Watermarks? Yes, I have them, too, but I'm sure RL will sort the problem out.
The particles are pretty damn good, but the fireworks particles are out-of-the-box amazing! I love fireworks!

Haven't had time to work with the PopcornFX. I did watch KAI first tutorial.
I did update the 3 Iclone apps to 7.2,
I bought the $129 version. Am I up to speed for now, or do I need to buy additional content/packs or other to work with it? If so, a link would help.

Having the watermark issue when using the Super tools and learning tools. Don't get it, when I use anything in Library 40.
Had a quick play adding some fire and sprinkler system (ok, it is rain) into a test project I have been playing with.

For those people getting watermarks, try pasting your PopFX serial number into the "Registration" box on your RL Account page. Make sure your product is registered.

The watermark issue is not for the 40 library but for the FXsuper tools and the FX learning Samples
By the way the new Glow is AMAZING . Like other AAA game engine!!!

Thank you Rampa - Did that first - Also ran the content verification. Getting errors there. I purchased the plug-in, library, & learning resources as well, so not certain what's going on with the watermarks. ALSO - since updating to the 7.2 patch, I'm now unable to export MP4, or anything except an uncompressed AVI file. I managed to get a 5 second .AVI out of it. It is dropping half the frames indicated during the rendering process. For example, if the # of frames to be rendered is 350, it will display 'rendering whatever # out of 165 frames' - NOT out of 350 frames - when finished, the rendered video file is corrupted & unreadable. (help!) ~V~

Darn! I was hoping it might work. It didn't work for me either. Their Friday work-day should be starting soon, so I'm sure they'll be working on getting all the licenses in order.
Rogue. It sounds like something got pretty corrupted. Might want to reinstall. But it is normal for the export to be half the frames of your length. The timeline is in 60fps increments, and the output is at thirty.

Here is an older trick.. Drag in a low poly 3d object (ball works) set it to "dummy" move it to the part you want to set, rename it "control xxxx" in the fur section "sampler mesh, I checked particle offset box then used the eye dropper to choose the control dummy, then just linked or attached the dummy where you want it on a model.. Hope this helps

Those three are scheduled for a bit later release. Either later this month, or in January. They'll let us know when they are available.

PopcornFX is a wonderful addition to the Iclone toolkit. Congratulations and thanks to all involved.

I have purchased this the day it was released, the combo with the 5 super tools. I am very excited to learn and get started. First thing I tried to make with it was to create a foggy ground plane. Somehow I couldn't get it right with the texture tool, because I couldn't get it flat on the ground. Than I saw there is a learning package with 50 examples for the super tools, and it happens to have the one I want to learn. Then I saw that this package was only meant for pre-orders, and release date was the first I've heard from it.
Does this mean only pre-orders have learning samples for the super tools? I don't get it.

I am still baffled that Reallusion made over 50 learning samples to help with the super tools, but won't give them to customers who have purchased after they were released. I got stuck on my first try (foggy ground), and the solution is in these samples. And what's worse - the "PopcornFX Library 40" I just bought has less projects than the learning samples. I would had pre-ordered the plugin IF RL had notified me that it was in beta, but I have never heard of it until it was released, for that was the first time I was send an email about it. After all, I was notified when iClone 7 went into beta, and I have pre-ordered it.
I need these learning samples to get started. I can't help feeling cheated in this purchase.

Do NOT feel cheated. I never asked RL for a refund on any purchases they haven't refunded to me.
No excuses RL will refund your money...be patient it will be worth it. I gave up on the Popcornfx until it is altogether working, and I am not worried.

I have been out of action for about 6 months and come to the offer via a YouTube vid from RL and only really noticed the date as 31st Dec which I assume now is the early special. The content on the page showing the learning resources(Samples) should no longer be visible because it can be mistaken as part of the current product. I have been with RL since iC5 and it got me hook, line and sinker so anyone new or even coming to the page from a 3rd party ad or email there is every chance they will be expecting it to be included. Anyways it has crashed twice already so I guess I better see what is going on in that department. RL are a pretty good bunch and they will put up plenty of vids for tutorials and hold their webinars etc so I don't think you will be left high and dry as far as learning goes.

But what do refunds have to do with anything I said? I am talking about RL giving the super tools but not the learning samples I need to get started. It makes no sense to make learning samples exclusive to pre-orders. That's what I am talking about. Learning samples are essential when you get started.

If you are interested in the learning resource while it is 1/2 price I thought I might mention it is quite a mission to find it because it does not seem to show up via search or even Reallusions store page using filters. I ended up adding the PopcornFX 40(which you already have) and then opened the shopping cart to see at the bottom the Learning Resources in the Customers Who Bought This Item............. As in the screenshot here. Added it to the cart and removed the PopcornFX 40.

it looks like all of us have been conned on this one, just another infuriating experience. agreed it makes no sense to sell us something that does not fully work. but most importantly spend hours and hours of wasted time and money trying to find out where we have gone wrong only to find out we were not given the full place as advertised in the first place. a great product if we were able to use it, I guess we all have to fork out more money to make it work. again this does not bode well for keeping us loyal.
