The website has a free version of Fusion 9 the latestnode-based VFX software. You can have Fusion 9 to play with. It doesn't havethe Pro effects which will cost you another $300, but hey, what’s to lose?

In addition to Fusion which is free up to uHD resolution there is Resolve which is a very good editorial and grading software, also free up to uHD resolution. Both are great for transcoding also.
