I'd like to have a Motion Blur option added to iClone, if that's practical. I know in a so-called "realtime" environment, that might be a bit much to ask, but I'd thought I'd ask anyway!
Also, some sort of "automated" camera shake effect would be nice. You know, like a handheld camera wobble. I think this would be fairly easy to achieve... (note: I could be talking out my a**, lol)
Just a couple of things that I think would add well to the product...
Thanks for listening!

I second the motion blur request; it would also help against the stroboscopic effect of fast movements. If implemented as an option during final rendering, it would not affect real-time performance. I have tried simulating motion blur by blending adjacent frames in Vegas, but it does not work too well.

You can do this in MAGIX if you use this for post production by triplicating your vid and shifting frames. Do not forget to separate the audio as you'll want that to stay solid.

I'm pretty sure Magix has motion blur available in the video effects (without the need for duplicating the video). Perhaps that is not an official "motion blur"?

BiggsTrekHi biggstrek, These are both post production effects that you apply to moving images in something like Adobe After Effects. I think to incorporate this into an animation tool, maybe tuning iClone into "all things to all men" type of thing as opposed to a "high end animation tool". Regarding Camera shake this could be achieve manually within the timeline by randomly offsetting the cameras position markers, a little time consuming, but an option. Really we would need someone who could create a "wiggle" code to adjust the position in iClone language and then we just offset the frame count of the movement? Personally I would prefer a high end animation tool, but they have added DOF and Lens flare so who knows what RL can pull off :) Just my thoughts Cape :)

@cape:
Before IC4 came out, one might have said that IBL or HDR or imported video were features that could be done in Post, or not at all. And yet here they are. :) So why not ask for Motion Blur? My video editor certainly can't do it (believe me, I've tried!)
As to Camera Shake, yes you can achieve something similar by doing loads of keyframes, or if you're clever like the.biz, you can attach the camera to an invisible avatar's head, and move HIM around instead. But I think a simple option at add shake (during export/render, perhaps?) wouldn't be too hard for the people at Reallusion to achieve. After all, even The Movies could do that!!

The reason you want the Motion Blur in iClone is that you would actually get a blur of what moves within a single frame. I've found any attempt to simulate that with adjacent frames in Vegas (or any other editor for that matter) disappointing, even when starting out with 60 fps (which would give more frames to compose the blur). Especially with fast movements there are simply not enough frames to compose the blur convincingly.

I cast my vote too: please consider adding motion blur to iClone!

Plus one vote for motion blur. Even if it is at render time.

Motion blur is a memory hog.

Add my vote for Motion Blur support as well! (Camera Shake might be nice, too. But I think Motion Blur is more important.)
There might be some editing tools that can add this effect. But like others have pointed out, not all of them support this feature. Usually it's the most expensive tools. And if you've already been trained with one editing package, it's a pain to buy a new package and retrain just for that feature.
As for the naysayers who claim it will be a memory hog, etc., it shouldn't affect them if they choose to ignore such a feature. To stay competitive and current, it's a given that computer hardware has to be upgraded regularly. And memory upgrades are among the most important.

I agree wiith both suggestions. Motion blur and camera shake would be useful as well as a few other post proccessing effects. Yes, motion blur may be a memory hog (maybe) but in the end, it is up to the director about what kind of effects they want in their movie and what hardware they need to get to do these effects. I for one think it's a great idea.

Sadly motion blur won't be making it into the next version of iClone. It will remain a possibility for future inclusion however. :) Camera shake will be possible though. ;)

What WILL be in the next version???

I'm sad, too, that Motion Blur won't make it into the next version of iClone. Would have been a very nice addition.
But I'll gladly use the Camera Shake! In fact, I need that right now (doing it manually is OK, but a little time consuming to get it right).
