I started my trial with iClone, and was surprised to find out that you can indeed use the trial version of 3DXchange to import DAZ characters into iClone. I imported my minotaur character, which has "geograft" body parts; for example, a tail. The tail is rigged so as to be posable in DAZ Studio, and the tail's bones do appear in 3DXchange. Once the character is imported into iClone, the only way I have found to pose the character is via "Edit Motion Layer." But when I do that, only the basic skeleton appears. None of the geograft parts' bones appear, so I cannot select them and pose them. The tail sticks ramrod-straight out of the minotaur's back and never moves. What could I do to be able to pose the tail?

You can map those "extra" bones to what are called "extend bones". You will then be able to animate them with the "extend bone" button in the motion layer, or set them as spring bones. Have a look at this page: https://www.reallusion.com/iclone/help/3DXchange5/Pipeline/03_Pipelines/Setting_Extend_Bones_for_IK.htm
And this video. It's for an older version, but the features you need are the same.

Rampa,
I haven't seen that video. It is very informative. It's amazing to me how much you know about the iClone basics. Many of your posts have been very useful to me. You are a great resource and are always willing to help. I just want to step in here and thank you and all of the other contributors, (so many that it would be impossible to name) that help us "beginners". I have been using iClone since version 4 and still learn something almost every time you post.
To Inkubo,
You will find people like Rampa have tons of knowledge, For me some things about iClone are not that obvious (my background is photograpy) and the process of making animations involves concepts beyond creating still images. There are literally thousands of tutorial videos on iClone. In particular, the videos produced by Reallusion are well done and very informative. My advice is to spend as much time as you can watching them. They will help greatly in getting you "up to speed". The hardest part is figuring out what to search for, terms like "Springs" and "Extend Bones" are concepts you may not be familiar with.

Perfect! Thanks! It's counter-intuitive to have those bones show up in 3DXchange but not work in iClone, but fixing the problem is very easy. The minotaur tail works now!
