I exported a standar female CC2.1 character as fbx to model a hair for it, but when I want to reimport it I get this message "CC_Base_Hip missing". What can I do to fix that?

Did you use Blender? or another application?

I imported it into 3DCoat with no problem. Sculpted the hair on the headmodel itself, exported it out as a fbx again but when I try to reimport the fbx to CC I get that error. Heres what the mesh looks like in 3DCoat: I will try to add another sphere and scale it into the headscale and sculp the hair over again.

I tried to remodel the hair on a seperate mesh and import it into iClone, but when I apply a pose from the animation library the hair wont follow. I tried to link the hairmesh, but it didnt help. When I attached the hairmesh to the body it went out of position when I applied a pose.

The hair must be rigged to the skeleton. AFAIK there is no skeleton support in 3DCoat. So your export is missing all bones. Thus the error.

I could try to add it to Blender. There it worked the last time I had to add something seperate to the rigg.

I tried to do a rigg in Maya. My steps:
Rigging

Checking rigg:
Then I tried to import it to CC2.1 with the hipbone this time, but I still get the message. Is the iClone bones some kind of custom bones and not standar Maya rigging bones, that isnt supported?

I think the question is, how can I make the hipbone in the Maya rigg to a CC_Base_Hip bone?

The hair must be rigged to the skeleton
That mean you need to do exactly these steps in Maya. look video > 1min27 That works for all, Hair, shoe, Cloth ...
If you ready, select all and export as FBX 2012 << very important !!!

Thank you, but I found this one https://www.reallusion.com/Iclone/pipeline/flow_character_maya_import.aspx which I find easier to follow. But when I come to "Convert" the convert button is greyed out. Why is that? I followed all the steps correctly.

Is the model you have in Maya the CC base model? You cannot just make one. You need the specific CC skeleton and meshes.

Today I decided to outsource the problem some more and I think I found it. Here comes a long post:
Image 1: These are the warnings that shows when importing a iClone rigg to Maya
Image 2: Looking at the info you can see which bones that have a problem and what the problem is. Here you can see the CC_Base_Hip isnt complete with the bind pose. I think that is why Character Creator or iClone dosent find the CC_Base_Hip when re-importing.
Image 3: Also, this is a interesting one.
Image 4: But the animations and rigg works fine :)
So, now I finally know what the problem is. Does this mean that I have to rebind all the bones? Will that destroy the iClone structure so the bones isnt compitable with iClone or Character Creator anymore?
Hope som rigging experts can help, so we can solve this.

Thats a great walkcycle :) So now that I know what to do, can I make a custom character and bind it to the bones for the Reallusion basemesh?

can I make a custom character and bind it to the bones for the Reallusion basemesh? That is another story ! You can create CC Morphs and conforming DRESS, Hair for CC .... but not create a new CC Character from a different Mesh for using in CC if you want a custom character, that is iClone compatible, you need to make a Nonstandard Chracter , with 3dXchange No matter where the Character come from. important is only it is a rigged FBX Here an Exampele how can rig a Character and converted to a Nonstandard .

To confirm, exporting character out of iClone for rigging custom assets and reimporting works too with the tutorial. Thanks again :)
