Hello,
I have a character sitting on a table and moving her left thigh up and down in time to music.
The problem is that, the movement of her leg up and down is causing her to slide back and forth on the bench.
Does anyone know how to keep her bum still on the table while her left  thigh is moving.

Thank you,
wjan

If you only animate her knee (as a body part, not the entire body) then this won't happen.

Thank you for the reply Kelleytoons,
Unfortunately this does not work. Any movement of the leg while in the sitting position is making the whole body move.
This movement is not normal in humans in the sitting position
Would there be any other way of completely disconnecting leg and body part movements.
Thank you,
wjan

Make sure that the foot isn't locked for move/rotate.

This is what KT is speaking of. There is a setting in the motion layer panel that sets the IK to end at the hip for the leg movement. Notice that when it's selected you cannot select the hips/torso in the point selection window.

Thanks, Rampa -- if I had been at my desktop I was going to post a short video but I should have posted a screen shot (still trying to get my laptop set up the way I want it -- I need to put my video capture stuff on it some time).
