I'm an old dog trying to learn new tricks/hobby. Got iClone after reading some reviews. Never having done animation is there a "..for Dummies" that might give me some basics. Have downloaded the PDF manual but not read it yet.

Hi Tom. Welcome to the forum! I'd recommend signing up for this free intro course by Stuckon3D.
As well, you could look at AnimaTechnica's Production Diary, the iClone Wiki, and you can tune in to the Wolf and Dulci Hour - a fun and informative weekly iClone Radio Show on Monday nights 9pmCST/10EST, with downloads of previous shows here. As well, register at CoolClones for tons of freebies in the download section to get you started. And yes, the manual itself is very informative - be sure to go through it.
There is a learning curve with iClone, but these resources will get you off on the right foot. :)

Hi Tom and welcome to the forum. Afterthought has given you some good links there but if you prefer a one to one basis Cricky is one of the real early users of iClone and Crazytalk who knows the programmes inside out. He is also a CDD developer and with some very inovative ideas. All his classes are only 5$ an hour. I know from personal experience he could give you some very useful tips and tricks which would have you up and running fairly quickly You can find him here Hope this helps

Totally agree with Popeye and sumthinwong. Of the few times I asked for tips in the forum, Cricky, among a few other very helpful users, was there ready to help. He is not only a guru on the apps, but also an outside-of-the-box thinker who can come up with creative solutions that can not be found in standard iClone instructions. As iClone user community grows, each of us will want to focus on a few things we love to do the most and delegate/outsource the rest to users who do them the best, I can see people like Cricky play even more important roles in the community. Now he needs to raise the fee. Many volunteer events provide more than $5 worth of free patries and coffee :) Important edit: Of course, Peter and other RL people are always ready to help.

definitely david - I am all for supporting those who are always willing to led a hand -
and great point on thinking out of the box - i have seen more 'why didn't i think of that' stuff from cricky than anyone else here
i've learned from both cricky and stuckon3D so so can't go wrong with either one

As well as all the great tips above, it is also well worth visitng James Martin's iClone Certified Training website. There are numerous short tutorials there that you can try as well as lots of really useful information. James used to be Reallusion's video tutorial guy so he knows all there is to know about iClone. iClone Certified Training

Am on Stuckon3D's next class list and will have a session with Cricky this weekend. Been reading the downloaded manual getting familiar with the layout tabs, etc.
A little boring history-this is my first foray into "animation" and my only other experience is making one slideshow/video(which turned out better than expected!).
