Hi could you confirm either way - for those of us who already who have Crazy talk animator 2 will there be a offer to upgrade to crazy talk animator 3 ?
from first glimpse of pre sale offers the cheapest way of getting crazy talk animator 3 is to re purchase crazy talk animator 2 - now that is CRAZY
I have pipeline version already of crazy talk animator 2 it works out $169.00 to get it again and get crazy talk animator 3 as bonus
or I could buy over $299.00 worth of content which some of us may not need or already have. regards Gareth

I agree with Gareth.
I am in the same exact position as him. Same package already, plus all additional content as a premium member.
I have Crazytalk Animator 2 Pipeline, Presentation Package, Buddys World, CrazyTalk 8 Pipeline, Real Human Heads, Dress Up Package 1 and 2.
What else can I do. I do not need to but these again, I have them already.
Upgrade for existing users please.

Will CTA2 Power Tools, etc. will work with CTA3? I don't really have a need for CTA2 but if I buy it now I can get CTA3 free and save money! Character design isn't very user friendly in CTA1 and CTA2 wasn't a big improvement in that sense I'm inclined to believe after using the trial version, for me anyways. Just wondering if things in CTA2 will work in CTA3 or will CTA3 creations work in CTA2 I guess is what I'm after here. :ermm:

Well the new animation features are cute, but it's just the mesh system that AE uses + bones (which I think Adobe is playing with too?) When I saw the scooter and the icons pop up in the video, I thought we would see wheel dynamics, but nope, the scooter moved across the screen but the wheels were static. There are other features to be announced, right?

Which version of CTA3 does the video show? Are all of these features shown in this video integrated into CTA3 Pro? https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=27&v=MhqbQxS_ZcY
Or are there features shown, that are only available in CTA3 Pipeline? What is "Custom Create Elastic Motion" (see comparision table http://www.reallusion.com/event/cta3-presale/default.html#six)
It would be really appreciated to see a video about the differences.

I would be more please if CTA3 implement a character creation editor in the Pipeline edition. It's just too time consuming to create unique characters using the template + adobe flash method. Hence, why you won't see too many 3rd party G2 characters being offered in the marketplace.

I'm kinda wondering this as well. I have a LOT of reallusion products: CTA1 Pro. CTA2 Pro, CT 8 Pro, Iclone 6 Pro, plus a LOT of content packs, so the offer to get CTA3 if I buy bundles or content packs doesn't work for me since I already own ALL the power tools sets for CTA2, and pretty much all of the content packs for Iclone 6. I know they can't simply give away CTA3, and I'm not expecting that. I realize that this offer is to draw in new customers. I get that. But I think I've been a pretty good customer, and it would be nice to see that recognized in some way regarding CTA3.

Hi narmaman
As for your question, CTA3 presale is mainly for users who haven't bought CTA2 or other Reallusion products. It's the best opportunity to get it now or you can buy more contents to get it. There will also be other products users can purchase to get CTA3.
For existing CTA2 users or those who doesn't want it now, we DO have a special member offer during launch sale. So, stay tuned!!

As per RL sales go for updates, The pre-sales offer is the best you will get. The price offer for CTA3 Pipeline is $299 now but on launch our UPGRADE price will be much higher as always. The normal UPGRADE price for CTA 3 P will always be MORE than this is,
That is just the way RL does it.
So if we want CTA3 we MUST buy now in Pre-sales for the offered price to actually save money on it. Don't wait because we will pay much more for our upgrade.

Still confused about which is best way to obtain CTA 3 currently I could re purchase cta2 and get cta3 as bonus at $169 while pre sale is on - but who wants to buy something they already have ? or I wait as told earlier that other offers will be available on launch for existing members who already have cta2 and hope Reallusion appreciate there existing customers who already have cta2 and reward them with a discounted price to obtain CTA3
The question being will I get a better deal that is on the table now - which is $169 I mean I could wait and end up having to pay more which would mean that the new members/customers who were targeted with the pre sale offer actually got a better deal than myself and other existing members who have been loyal customers.

Hi Gareth,
This is a pre-sale offer and is purely optional. For existing users you can simply wait and upgrade to CTA3 in the normal way if you wish.
However it is important to remember that you don't have to purchase CTA2 to get a free copy of CTA3. You can also purchase iClone 6, CrazyTalk 8 or several other packages and you will still get free copy of CTA3 when it is released. Please see the page HERE for a list of the eligible purchases.

There are mainly 3 of many new features included in the video. 1. Free bone (STD: can use bone content, Pro & Pipeline: can edit) 2. Character bone template (STD & Pro & Pipeline) 3. Elastic motion (STD & Pro & Pipeline)
As for "Custom Create Elastic Motion", it is a feature where users can create, store and reuse motion curve besides using existing ones. It is for pipeline.

Hi, thought I'd try and back up my comments. This is some work I did on Mythbusters...
So ignore the 3D (which was done in open sourced Blender), it's all done in AE with some scripts.- CA needs wheel motion that is driven by speed of sprite.
- Particle effects,
- Motion blur (possibly already supported?)
- Blending effects like additive and multiply.

The new Character Bone Templates makes me confused, how will it be connected to the old Character Composer. Then my questions are: 1. From the video demo, it looks like developing new characters will be much easier than before, because there are some universal templates. Is it right? 2. Will Character Bone Templates still compatible with 3D Motion, or it will be sticked to 2D motion only? 3. And the last is, can we make new universal characters with free bone tools, for our own custom characters, to become new templates? Or all templates will only be supplied by reallusion? This questions is very important, because I imagine there will be custom character bone templates for fish, or flower, or tree, which won't be given by this software.
|
|
By iwansuryo - 10 Years Ago
|
The next very important question is, can we attach sprites to a character developed with Free Bones? If the answer for this question is yes, I am very sure to buy this pre-sale quickly.
Right now, I can only see lipsync animation added to the Free Bones character. If I want to make fingers animation or headturn animation, it would be impossible without specific sprites menu.
I hope that RL develop wizard/ special menu to add sprites easily for any kind of body part of a character. If it is would be hard to implement, then RL can sold it as part of CTA Pipeline edition only, which is very reasonable.
Thank you.

OK, now I have a question. I have pretty much purchased all of the pre-qualifying packages on that link as of March this year. Am I to understand that even though my software is not yet a year old, I have to repurchase an existing package that I have to get the $169.00 price for CrazyTalk Animator 3? While I understand there will be a launch sale for existing owners, someone had mentioned that the upgrade price is going to be more than the pre-sale offer.
If this is indeed the case and I do wish to upgrade, I might as well take advantage of the pre-sale offer, however, from an existing customer that has already invested in all of these products, it really doesn't make sense for me.

I agree with Gareth and Don. I, too, am a Premium Member with CTA2 Pipeline. I don't need anymore new content. Just an upgrade to CTA3. Also, I'm a student. Will there be an academic discount? Will there be a DARK user interface option? I am developing a line of custom characters that I plan on using with the G2 templates provided in the Buddy's World pack. Will there be any compatibility issues with this upgrade? How will the new boning features work with pre-existing templates? Since I haven't started using the templates yet for this project, I would hate to do all of this work ahead of time and discover issues on the back end.

A question I would love to have answered is the Pro vs Pipeline feature set. The price difference between the two (at least for this sake of this promotion) is $120. The only differences between the two is that the Pipeline version offers "Custom Create Elastic Motion" and "Custom Render Style". Without knowing exactly what these features are, it doesn't seem like a huge upgrade between the two versions. Could you elaborate on this a bit please?
I'm an owner of CTA2 Pipeline so getting CTA3 Pipeline seems like a no-brainer but it's hard to tell from the information currently available. Of course I understand you can't release information ahead of time but the teaser promises so many cool things!

Yep. I am another CTA 2 Pipeline user. I bought CTA 2 Pipeline and a load of other stuff less than 5 months ago. I've hardly used it, but I have been learning how to use it for the next animation project. Before I invested in CTA 2 I asked if CTA 3 was imminent but got no response.
Reallusion, you need to foster loyalty. To do that, you need to respect the customers who have chosen to go with you, not annoy them by making them feel their previous investment in you and your products was wasted.
We need a fair upgrade offer from CTA 2 to 3. Throwing it in for free if people buy current offerings is to attract new customers, not those who have already invested in Reallusion's products like I and many others have.
I am calling on you to do the right thing. It is merely a decision you need to make.

Im confused I just went through my purchase" history and I have purchased over $1,971 of reallusion software and content. How is spending $300 more getting anyone CTA3 free? $300 is not free. If I own almost everything reallusion has except indigo and mocap that leave me only the option to get 300 in content which I do not need.
What I am understanding is if you spend $300 buck more on content points / software etc , We will throw in CTA3 "pipeline" for free is this correct? maybe I am just having brain block today.....after all I haven't had my morning coffee yet....

Is Lip-sync improved with CTA3? Lip-sync is buggy in CTA2 when you have multiple characters talking at the same time.

Devportal, the only real way to perfect lip synching in CTA is to manually keyframe your lip movements. It takes a bit of getting used to, but you can get excellent results with a bit of practice and patience.

I know you haven't released a full set of functions yet but will CTA3 continue to have the face fitting functionality or is this also being ported off to CrazyTalk8 to add photo heads to cartoon characters? Just curious! Pierre

iwansuryo (8/18/2016) The next very important question is, can we attach sprites to a character developed with Free Bones? If the answer for this question is yes, I am very sure to buy this pre-sale quickly.
Right now, I can only see lipsync animation added to the Free Bones character. If I want to make fingers animation or headturn animation, it would be impossible without specific sprites menu.
I hope that RL develop wizard/ special menu to add sprites easily for any kind of body part of a character. If it is would be hard to implement, then RL can sold it as part of CTA Pipeline edition only, which is very reasonable.
Thank you.
can we attach sprites to a character developed with Free Bones? => the sure answer is yes. What's better is you can attach or change sprites by drag and drop. See how happy the bear is!!

psaldari (8/19/2016) Hi, the windows and mac versions are released in the same time?

We heard you here in Reallusion, Paolo. This was not the plan. There was a time difference between Win and Mac version. However, you spoke foe our Mac user who we valued, we will "TRY" to make they the same time. But we cant guarantee to they be the same time.

Ladyjazze (8/19/2016) I agree with Gareth and Don.
Will there be an academic discount? => There will be special upgrade offer for sure. I am developing a line of custom characters that I plan on using with the G2 templates provided in the Buddy's World pack. Will there be any compatibility issues with this upgrade? => G2 characters with CTA2 templates will work just fine in CTA3. Hope this answered ur questions. :):)

pfontaine2 (8/19/2016) A question I would love to have answered is the Pro vs Pipeline feature set.
Pierre
Pipeline version: Custom Create Elastic Motion means one can not only use the motions embed, but also modify, store and reuse them. These motion curves can also be exported and sold on marketplace. Render Style is for both pro and pipeline. Users can change the style of their G2 character with one click.

Same situation here. I'm sure there are many of us who are, and I think it will be terrible if Reallusion forces us to buy what we already own.
I'm hoping for an affordable $99 CTA3 pipeline upgrade. (Or less)

An email went out today offering a $40 coupon to help those who wish to take advantage of the buy content/get CTA3 free deal. That's not a bad deal, and I thank Reallusion for the extra incentive. The single caveat is that it is only applicable to content, not Reallusion applications. That means that the current lowest-cost option to get CTA3 Pipeline free is to buy another copy of CTA2 Pipeline for US$169.00. The $40 coupon cannot be applied to this deal. However, if there's $100 of other content you wish to purchase on the same order (coupon only works on orders over $100) you may be able to take advantage of both.
Now, I seem to recall taking advantage of one of these pre-order freebies before, (think it was buy iClone 5, get iClone 6 free) only to find that on Release Day for the new product that there was ANOTHER Content Pack I had to purchase in order to get full functionality out of the new product! And the price for the new product/new content pack bundle was about what I'd paid for the pre-order of the older software! In other words, I bought a product I knew was going to be obsolete to get the next version, when if I had waited till release day, I could have bought just the new version AND the new content pack for what I'd paid to get the early deal! Old version + new version or new version + new content for the same money? And since the pre-sale deal happened over 30 days prior to the release, I was ineligible to return the prior bundle and buy the new one.
That's the sort of deal I'd like to avoid again. Can someone from RL honestly tell us if there will be a "G3" content pack available on or soon after Release Day, and what the projected prices are going to be? All I'm asking is for fair information before I spend $300 in the wrong place. You're going to get the money one way or another, so why not let us know now so we don't have to hassle with returns later on?
Thanks so much!

As a CTA2 user, I'm happy to wait until CTA3 is released and Reallusion announces what options and prices and special offers will be me available to me for upgrading to CTA3. I agree with Garry on this one. We only have a small prevue of the final software and we're not entirely certain what will remain in the next iteration of CTA3 and what will be removed (if anything). All this has wet my appetite and caused me to go back to CTA2 and begin using it more than I have. Where once I was finding software that was difficult to "understand", I'm now finding that I can do quite a lot of quick character animation quickly. Yes, custom character creation could be easier but I'm quite stoked to see what comes next. I've been very tempted to buy some other software I think I'm going to need (such as CrazyTalk 8 for custom face creation in iClone) but I'm starting to feel that waiting makes more sense right now.

Pfontaine2, I have a feeling that the flexible bone system will make it easy to get a LIT of realistic movement out of almost any character. So if developers want to go to the trouble of creating fully rigged G2 style characters, then fine, but for those without either the ability or the desire to do this, I think you will be able to create simple characters quicker and better than ever.
Flexible bones are a real game changer for CTA3.

Will this new software come with its own "custom character tools" where I can take existing heads, facial parts, body parts and manipulate them. (size, height, width, color, textures)? I rather not use flash, Draw plus or photoshop layers. Can we just have expanded capabilities with the tools that are already in the application? I've viewed all of the current choices (and videos) for custom characters and find that using sprites from another app to be very tedious and at times frustrating and uninspiring. I just want to take the existing sprites and change them within the Crazy Talk Animator app. I already have the G2 composer kits...I guess I'm really asking for a really big expansion of this tool pack. that'll be awesome.. extra animation features is always welcome... but custom characters will really get me involved with these apps. The info page for CTA3 says sometime in October will be the date. The software is probably in the hands of beta-testers now. I suspect that the next "preview" will accompany the next stage of their "Get CTA3 for Free" promotion that starts on September 12. I'm still on the fence about the "Get CTA3 for Free" even though I don't have CrazyTalk 8 yet. They have nice bundles lined up that allow you to get the software for free but I'd love to know more before taking the plunge. Money is money and I can't just spend it on impulse! Pierre

I don't think you are understanding the CTA3 pre-sale offer. You don't have to purchase again to get CTA3. You can wait until CTA3 is released and then upgrade in the normal way for a discounted price. Update prices and early bird offers will be revealed nearer the date of release.

It sounds wonderful. It's a must for me. I just hope they don't take away any features and that we're given ample time when it comes out, on sale, that we can actually to get it. We all love to get new features, but it's a l w a y s irritating to have features removed, which is one step forwards one step back. For example the multidimensional characters are sort of hard but they are great and there is nothing much like it. Adding is good. Removing is bad. Enough time for the sale means those of us that want it can get it for sure.

Hi guys!
Looks like I picked the right time to delve into the world of animation eh? So I'm a complete newbie and stumbled upon this forum after discovering Crazytalk Animator 2 was a thing that existed.
I understand there's a new version of the software to be released in the coming weeks so all I want to know is what should I do?! I am interested in learning and creating basic animations to begin with so I was going to buy the current version 2 meaning I would get a free upgrade to version 3 if I understand the promotion correctly? But that seems silly. Then again I could get a bundle with G2 power tools which seems very useful.
But I'm thinking I should probably take advantage of the promotion by purchasing some other software available that would then entitle to me a free version of Crazytalk Animator 3... right?
Does that make sense? I don't even know what Crazy Talk 8 is but is that something worth having then I would end up with Crazy Talk 8 & the new Crazytalk Animator 3?
If I were to buy a deal that comes with Crazytalk Animator 3 Pro I assume I could pay for an upgrade to the Pipeline version once released?
Decisions decisions!!
Sorry for bugging you guys but I'm excited AND confused at the same time!
Thanks for any opinions or answers.
Cheers!

Hi DeadEndOld!
You ask some very good questions and some that are not easy to answer because of the way Reallusion parses information prior to release. CTA2 was a somewhat radical revision on CTA1 with regards to character creation because of the added functionality of creating characters that could rotate 360 degrees in a scene. What seemed like a great idea was clunky at best to implement if you were designing your own characters. It's unknown how much of this character engine is retained in CTA3 other than if you use a CTA2 character in CTA3, it most likely will retain the 360 degree rotation functionality.
CrazyTalk 8 is required if you own iClone 6 in order to create custom 3D heads from photos. This was functionality that existed in all versions of iClone prior to 6 but was spun off to the CrazyTalk line. From the existing CTA3 promo video, it looks like you can still take any photo and create a basic 2D talking head just like CTA2 and earlier versions of CrazyTalk. My gut feeling is that creating custom 3D heads from photos isn't necessary in CTA3 so you wouldn't really gain anything by purchasing CrazyTalk 8 in a bundle in order to get CTA3 for free.
I own all the CTA Power Tool packs and they are really nice to have so personally I would go for this offer if it allows you to get CTA3 Pro or hopefully Pipeline. Personally, I got the CrazyTalk 8 bundle because I also own iClone and knew that I could use the software at some point but it might be unnecessary for CTA3 users.
Again, much of the confusion comes from how Reallusion parses information prior to release. They offer bundles without making it clear what all the functionality of the new software is. CTA never really offered any art creation tools beyond masking tools for artwork that you import. I consider this a great weakness of the software since you are required to use a second piece of software to create art assets. However, I really like the "puppet"-like ability to manipulate your characters in real-time as well as do traditional keyframe animation.
With regards to upgrading from CTA3 Pro to Pipeline, I'm certain that this wouldn't be a problem but of course you'd be paying the retail difference in order to do so. That's more money out of your pocket but at the same time, you've acquired some nice additional software or assets by taking advantage of one of the bundles offered.
Personally, I don't like the idea of ordering software without knowing exactly what has been added or what might have been taken away. However, I took advantage of getting the Pipeline version by getting CT8 because it was a missing link in my Reallusion software pipeline.
Good luck to you and your difficult decision!
Pierre

Two weeks ago I was where you are now -- a newbie seeking animation software. And I have decided to buy CT8 to get CTA3 (pipeline bundle version if that's important). I didn't go for CTA2 bundle, since CTA3 will replace CTA2 completely, but CT8 stays useful as complimentary software even after CTA3 release. I'm a Mac user and iClone is not available for me. On Windows I would seriously consider iClone over CT8.

To be perfectly honest. CTA3 is an animation software and the focus we have in Reallusion is to animate anything with quick and easy steps. To create characters from scratch is something different. However, composing characters from existing materails are plausible. Stay tuned for the product. I think you will be amazed.

The thing here is, after Beta test, we may collect issues and bugs we overlooked. And the time to modify and perfectualize them is unknown.
I can't reveal the schedule yet, because 1. Reallusion do not promise things we can't deliver. 2. Reallusion values each user. we want to ensure the porducts is ready when it is in you hands.
However, a little heads up. Should be way before Thanksgiving. OH! I can feel my boss breathing down my neck and not in a good way.

Just want to say I am really excited for this upgrade. Took advantage of the pre-sale offer to move up from CTA2 Pro to Pipeline - cost me $169 bucks - and I will get CTA3 Pipeline free. Would I have been able to get a better deal if I waited for the actual pricing? I don't know - though my experience with Reallusion has been that they are giving their best deal now. If not, I'm down a couple of bucks. What I will get is some pretty amazing software that will make it ridiculously easy for me to realize my ideas. For that I say thanks in advance.
A few years ago, I created a feature length film with CTA 1, running it on Bootcamp on my Mac. It won Best Animated Feature at the 2012 Louisville International Festival of Film. You can watch it on Amazon Prime here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FT3TCNS/ref=cm_sw_su_dp
CTA2 kind of stumped me - but I had not given up altogether. I think CTA3 is going get the engines going again - I am already working on the next script. Good luck to all the animators here in the CTA forum. I think there are good times (and great work) ahead.

Cool. Crazy talk Animator is one of my two favorite programs around, and I have always loved it. Being an artist, being able to take my creations and watch them come to life, walk talk and use all kinds of expressions just makes my day. Seeing the look on people's faces when I make their works walk talk and almost breathe is priceless too. I've watch crazy talk spawn crazy talk animator, then improve and become what it is today with crazy talk 3. I can hardly wait for it to come out. I've always been happy with the new features, and this is the best set of new features since crazy talk spawned crazy talk animator. If it has some additional features they've hinted at, besides this, that's only going to make it even better. I've always been happy with the upgrades, and I plan to upgrade unless I get hit by a truck.

Well just my luck, seems like every time I purchase something, a newer version comes along. Hopefully the upgrade wont be too high from v2 pipeline. Wish I had waited now because I'm sure the upgrade will be substantial instead of modest. Heck I'm fairly new to Reallusion have Animator 2 Pipeline and CrazyTalk 8 and been so busy haven't really had time to learn either that much, just playing around with them, now v3 of animator looks great, again sure wish I had waited to buy it! I do understand about companies wanting to make money - however, it seems many charge existing customers too much for upgrading software they have already purchased. A savings of a few bucks over someone buying first time just doesn't seem right. Some companies seem to purposely not offer updates/upgrades that amount to anything except maybe ironing out some bugs, just because they want customers to fork over mega bucks each and every year. Adobe went to the Cloud and lost me, I do not like renting software so I'll stick with CS6 versions or do without. They (all software companies) can do whatever they want but personally, I can't keep buying their new version every year just because they offer a token discount to current clients. I think most should take a lesson from WalMart - lower prices in volume equal more in the long run.

It happens to all of us! I purchased Anime Studio 11 around 6 months ago then found out that the latest version was forthcoming and the upgrade price was going to be nearly $200. I understand a company has to pay their employees but boy did that hurt!

I sure hope timelines editing is overhauled :) in cta2 it has been frustrating to make new objects appear in a different frame than 0. I know there are several workaround, but the option to select multiple objects and keyframe all would be very welcome. Also more keyboard or mouse shortcuts to navigate, select and move would be nice.

And if those like me, who only use this software for personal use and fun, without making any money with it, it hurts even more. Guess if I was using their product in a business fashion, it would be different, more along the lines of doing business but that will also exclude a lot of people who would like to purchase but can't afford keeping it up to date.

@nicholaskorn Sounds like you're a whole lot better off than me - a few months ago I purchased CTA 2 Pipeline for $179, now for me to upgrade to v3 I believe it's around $90 more...I fail to see the fairness in that. Obviously Reallusions knew v3 was in the wings, lowered the v2 pipeline price to lure me in, and now I can't get v3 without shelling out a lot more cash.

Well, actually no one is forced to buy a new CTA version.
So, you bought CTA for fun. That's fine. If you've never used it till now, stick with CTA 2. If it did a good job and you liked it, stick with CTA 2. These things do not change only because CTA 3 is around the corner.
If you like the newer and better features on the other hand, spend the money. Don't forget to enjoy the anticipation!
Whatever you will do, enjoy yourself. Spending money while having bad feelings about it isn't good.
(I personally bought CTA 1 4 years ago, made a few clips with it. Everything worked out well. I didn't buy CTA 2, because the new features didn't look that promising. I will give CTA 3 a try again. Imho CTA 3 will be, what CTA 2 should have been)

What a lousy comeback there bub! In other words, tuff-chet right? I read where the cut-off date was I believe Aug16, I purchased almost $350 this year, Animator 2 Pipeline 7/07, and someone whose has never spent a dime with RL gets a better deal than me. If that's your idea or RL's idea of fair then your thinking is way outta whack!. I don't care who you are but apparently you're a stooge for RL and you're stupid reply was about as childish as I've seen - so you know where you can go and where you can stuff you gibberish!

Oh come on. Get yourself a drink, sit back, and relax.
You've bought CTA 2 just for fun. Continue using it. Have fun with it. It will continue working. If you do not want to spend money on CTA 3, don't do it. It's really ok. If CTA 4 will be around the corner in 2 years, you will get the same deal. Really.
PS: You seem to be new to RL, please allow me to mention something not yet mentioned in this thread yet: After CTA 3 is released, a few weeks later some new content packs for CTA 3 will be released from RL. If you'd like to buy them, this will be another 100-200 bucks. Something like "explore the whole new power of CTA 3", "make the best characters ever made", "new great motions for standard bones" and so on. Believe me, this will happen for sure. So, if you're wondering keeping CTA 2 or upgrading to CTA 3: RL will try to get more money from you after you've bought CTA 3. For sure.
Now you may continue offending me.

My Lord!!! what its going on here??? as everyone else, I am excited about CTA3 and weather it will be worth it or not I AM going to buy it, its the nature of a new software and the software business. As I said, I am excited-and can hardly wait for CTA3, but let's cool it a bit, Reallusion its in business just as some of us are and must make ends meet and this might be the fact that we don't agree with, but we most be cool (or at least try) with one another as well as with Reallusion. Lets enjoy this short lived expectation for CTA3 and let each other express/correct themselves in a cool and collected way. Maybe some of us will get to enjoy the short emotional wait for the new software, and that, at the same time will keep us from thinking about all the problems in our daily lives that we have and will always have no matter what. Lets get on with CTA3

Apparently some of you cannot see just how bad RL is sticking it to old customers compared to new ones. When someone new gets to buy two programs I have already purchased, and in return they are rewarded with a free version of CTA3, it kind of chaps my butt. And, not only that, I am rewarded by getting version 3 by shelling out more money to get what they got for FREE. What's so hard to figure out? And, just because some of you are okay with that 'deal', don't expect everyone to agree with you.

The offer to buy now and get the new version for free is hardly unique to RL; I've seen other companies making similar offers and even seen cases where the upgrade price is then higher. BTW, I'm not getting paid for this statement.

There is always a member upgrade price to buy it BY ITSELF. If you do not need other stuff, it is always the best deal. it will be available when the product launches.
It is always this way, with every software product RL sells, always. :)

Dr. Fun (10/2/2016) This whole discussion is becoming quite bizarre. As a businessman myself, I cannot afford to give away my work, even to previous customers. Perhaps this is part of the Internet-fueled belief that all intellectual property should be free, as if there is no cost involved in developing it. (This certainly helps people justify piracy of IP.)
I'm not a shill for Reallusion, and I would LOVE it if they sent me everything they ever developed, and ever will develop, for free. But that isn't going to happen. RL is a business, and like every other business on the planet, they have to sell things in order to continue operation. Any offer of upgrade discounts they make to existing customers is a courtesy on their part, not an obligation. Business is a tough game to play. Anyone who has ever played it will understand what that means.
I don't think anybody asks RL to give everything for free - but just to remember old loyal customers too. All marketing strategy seems to fokus on giving free things and advantages for new "one-time customers". As an old customer, i'm feeling like: the more i buy, the more i lose.

Nice to see a few people here get the point some are trying to convey, this deal is only good for first time buyers, they can spend less for what most have paid for the same programs and get v3 as a bonus. Not so if you did not purchase items before their cut-off date, you sir are royally screwed. No matter how well some here try to take up for RL, they evidently are only trying to fool themselves.

Greetings,
I can understand what delt211 is trying to say... In the past, Reallusion did offer a loyalty program which automatically gave you discounts towards the purchase of new content for being a loyal customer. I think I am still listed as a Premium Plus Member. Perhaps they should rethink bringing that program back, it would solve a lot of problems. Although I develop a lot of content, I still purchase a ton of other people content all the time because it saves me the hassle of not having to drawing every single prop or character to go with my project. I think raising a little hell sometime helps companies coming up with a better solution. If no one complained, companies would not know what improvements to focus on. We should just ensure that will get our points across in a respectful manner. This forum offer a polling system as a way of gauging what people want. Ultimately it's up to Reallusion to decide if they are going to implement a solution.

Well, from what I remind from past product releases, it's the same thing each time... First, Reallusion is offering special deals for new customers, but just before the final release or on the day of the release, members always get a very interesting special offer. May be the only mistake Reallusion does is not telling first to their loyal members what this offer will be... because my point of view is that most of you are complaining for something they'll have in the upcoming days !

Well I see where new purchases of over $199 has now expired...however those who did spend $199 recently (within time limit) - they get a free download of v3 when it's out. Others like me who has spent over $300 this year, will still be required to pay something just to get v3. And, somehow I do not think it is going to be just a token amount - most likely at the very least another $100 - and no way you slice it, it is totally unfair to previous buyers. Say it's a hundred bucks, on top of $348 that makes me paying $448 buck to get what I bought plus getting v3, compared to a new buyer, who only had to pay $199, (less than half what I spent) to get v3. And anyone new who bought the exact same programs I did, still come out $100 bucks better than me because they got v3 free.

Ola(RL) (8/17/2016) Hi narmaman
As for your question, CTA3 presale is mainly for users who haven't bought CTA2 or other Reallusion products. It's the best opportunity to get it now or you can buy more contents to get it. There will also be other products users can purchase to get CTA3.
For existing CTA2 users or those who doesn't want it now, we DO have a special member offer during launch sale. So, stay tuned!!
Others like me who has spent over $300 this year, will still be required to pay something just to get v3. Actually you have been using CTA 2 and the content all the year long. One who has taken the "deal" actually still has nothing to play with ;)
To me "totally unfair" spells different: 1. You get nothing, not even an update price (have you ever asked Apple about a discount for your new iPhone 7 because you´ve bought iPhone 6?) 2. RL could stop backward compatibility so, all the content you have already bought is worthless, at least with CTA 3
That would be "totally unfair"...

Well, my two pesos.
I am a RL customer for less than six months now. The thought of having to purchase CTA2 again just to get v3 for whatever it costs is ridiculous. I've never seen an "upgrade" program like this. It's the best infomercial I've ever seen. "Yours free for $5. But wait...there's more."
It's like paying again for the food you paid for and ate yesterday.
I'm not asking for free. I'm only asking for fair.

I believe this is exactly the case. I have had multiple versions of other RL programs and RL usually tries to have offers for those who don't have much content and offers for those who already do once it's released. In fact it's mentioned on page 13. I appreciate there being offers for different people in different circumstances and especially that it has been lasting enough for most who want to take advantage of it to be able. What I an say is that I've always been very glad I upgraded. RL normally offers something if you don't have content and something if you do, just not simultaneously, and the upgrades are well thought out. They always make the upgrade worthwhile and yes on page 13 it does mention a member offer during launch and I'll anxiously and happily await it. The great updates and member offer during launch referred to on page 13 should make many people like me who are members happy to upgrade too I expect. I think some ppl missed the fact there should be a good offer for us members too, and if it's launched, I'll have my finger glued to the button to upgrade on payday, as I've always been glad I did in the past.

Patiently looking forward to the release .

I've always found Reallusion to be somewhat confounding in their offers even though I'm very grateful they make them available. This most recent "CTA3 for free" offer was fairly straightforward and classic "loss leader" marketing. You offer something amazing to lure new customers in (like getting something for free even though you're still spending anywhere from $199 for the Pro version to $299 for the free version). Once you snag them, you keep them coming back with new offers and discounts to keep them buying.
For Reallusion, it's a win/win situation. They market software that is downloadable. They don't have to pay to print up boxes, manuals, or ship anything. It's all done electronically so their only overhead is the cost of their staff and facilities. Getting "2 for the price of 1" deals still means they get money in their pockets while their stock of products never diminishes because it's all delivered digitally. It's a great business model as long as you keep people interested and buying.
For existing customers, they have always offered good deals on upgrades, though the definition of a good deal is subjective and may continue to annoy people because of the price attached. I don't want to speculate on the price to upgrade to CTA3 but I'm certain it'll be over $100 depending on what version you want. Yes, they always bundle "added value" items such as additional "next gen" characters for "free" or bundle existing content for those who don't have it yet or else training materials.
Personally, I think the marketing for CTA3 was handled a bit badly. We're given just enough information, a vague delivery date, and an offer to get CTA3 for free as long as you buy some other content. Since I didn't have CrazyTalk 8 already, I purchased that bundle knowing that I would eventually use it with iClone. I would have preferred they do nothing until the product was ready, and offer a "CTA for Free" deal as well as reasonable upgrade paths at the same time so that none of this confusion would have happened. I know why it was done the way it was done. It provides RL with a periodic infusion of cash so that they can keep developing their products.
I've spent more money on Reallusion products than any other software developer because their products are innovative, offer great value for the money and are marketed brilliantly. I'm looking forward to CTA3 but I know that over the life-cycle of this product that there'll be plenty of incentives to help me part with my hard-earned cash!

Thank you all for the feedback regarding the current pre-sale offer.
What I do find a little surprising is to see many complaining about existing customers being treated so unfairly, BEFORE you even know what the deal is going to be for existing CrazyTalk Animator customers.
I have been in the Reallusion community for many years, first as a customer, and now as a representative of RL here on the forum. In all those years I can honestly say I have never known a time when a great deal has not been made available for existing customers at release time. This will often be including a high value content bundle for free or offering a special discount. While I can't reveal what those plans are just yet, I can assure you that existing customers will not be forgotten.
So I would urge you to just be patient and wait until you know what we have in store for our loyal customers. Then if you still feel that you have been treated unfairly, come back and share your views then. Doing so without knowing the full facts is a little unfair, especially with the extreme vitriol some have shown.
Thanks for listening. :)

Hi Peter, Your points are well taken. I've never felt that RL has taken advantage of anyone in the way they market new software.
From a customer's point of view though, it might be difficult for RL to appreciate how much anxiety offers like the "CTA3 for Free" deal can provide. We're teased with some fantastic looking video and then told that we can get the software for free if we purchase a certain amount of content. A customer like myself starts to think "this is too good to pass up even though I already own CTA2 and that RL will provide a reasonable upgrade path". So now a customer like myself starts to think, "what do I need" to "get CTA3 for free". Can I add up enough content to justify the offer?
When money is tight, these special offers can be maddening because customers don't want to pass up a good offer, especially when something is offered for "free" and there's no concrete news what RL will do for its existing customers even though we know that we'll be taken care of with a proper upgrade path. So the decision becomes, do something NOW with the limited information we have or do something LATER with information we don't.
I'm not really complaining. It's all marketing and designed to generate interest and to generate an intensity of desire for something coming soon. RL does this type of marketing very well but money is money and it's not parted with easily. Nonetheless, I know RL will treat existing customers nicely once the final details of CTA3 are announced.

Okay fine, I will try like heck to be more civilized in responding to such ridiculous 'deals' you offer customers. Like I said before, I do not care if you ban me, nothing like banning the opposition now is there! Oh, and I read your thoughts about waiting until it comes out (for existing customers) well like I said before, if it isn't free (and we all know it will not be), we are getting (being nice here now ) taken compared to new customers. If I have to pay one dollar (total) over software and upgrade, more than a new customer - that proves RL cares more about attacking new customers at the expense of established ones. And of course we will have to wait, but how much do you want to bet the outcome will still be as I predict? If I had waited and purchased all my software from RL just a week or two ago, I'd have all my software PLUS I'd get the FREE upgrade - and I would be in much better shape financially than any pre existing customer because those people are going to have to fork over more dough to get what I would have gotten for FREE. Hope you understand what I'm saying.

Unfortunately it won't be free if you purchased before the pre-sale offer started. As you mentioned you were a businessman in a previous post, surely you understand that if we gave a free copy of CTA3 to every CTA2 customer (and then presumably a free CTA4 to every CTA3 customer) we would soon be out of business.
If you are a businessman, do you provide your services for free, or free to every existing client/customer? I highly doubt it.

I purchased CTA2 ONLY to get CTA3. I have no use for CTA2. So I am not sure how much I am saving. I have not had the use of CTA2 so one could make the case that I would feel ripped off if people who got to use CTA2 had gotten to use it for free. If, like some software developers, they had made a promise of unlimited upgrades, then there might be a beef. I have not seen such a promise. I see no real beef.
I won't know if CTA is actually useful until it is released. I thought that was 10-1-16, but my bad for reading into the promotion what clearly was not there.
RL has always treated me fair when I have had issues. They have some paths to discounts for owners of their software. I trust they will continue being fair since I see no reason to feel different, so far.
I say chill a bit and give 'em a chance. You don't slap a person because you THINK they will offend you.

Hi Rince,
It wasn't a case of interfering. It is my job to ensure that all posts follow the forum rules and sadly dellt211 failed to adhere to the warning I gave him and continued to be rude to other forum members (and sent extremely abusive PMs to me). As I explained to him it is perfectly possible to complain but remain civil at the same time. He just chose to ignore this which sadly means he won't be returning.

I may be at this alone, or may be I can speak for others that are not speaking, but when CTA3 comes out I will be the first one to order it as I've done with so many Reallusion software and many. many others. As I've done in the last 40 plus years: "I can hardly wait"...

I am very sorry that I joined this conversation too late and missed my opportunity to have a conversation with Dellt21 and share my own opinions. I find it hard to argue with Faceplate who said "I say chill a bit and give 'em a chance. You don't slap a person because you THINK they will offend you." A lot of people seem intent on complaining about special offers for CTA3 before it has even been announced what they are. And sadly, this could potentially put off prospective future buyers of the software and cause unecessary confusion for existing customers. So as a content developer, user of CTA1 and 2, a CTA and beta tester for CTA3, let me say the following to anyone contemplating whether or not to make the leap to CTA3. This is a great enhancement to an already great product. When Reallusion releases CTA3 and announces what special offers will be available, weigh up what is best for your budget, watch all the online demos, ads and reviews and then decide if its right for you.

I agree completely, and I'll be the 2nd one to get it. It's a great program made even better. I'm a repeat customer and have been treated fine by RL.

You can watch it on Amazon Prime here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FT3TCNS/ref=cm_sw_su_dpCTA2 kind of stumped me - but I had not given up altogether. I think CTA3 is going get the engines going again - I am already working on the next script. Good luck to all the animators here in the CTA forum. I think there are good times (and great work) ahead.

post_76 (10/1/2016) I sure hope timelines editing is overhauled :) in cta2 it has been frustrating to make new objects appear in a different frame than 0. I know there are several workaround, but the option to select multiple objects and keyframe all would be very welcome. Also more keyboard or mouse shortcuts to navigate, select and move would be nice.
By any chance, you mean something like this?

I don't see any responses to many of these inquiries (i.e. narnaman on 8/17/16 and dongraphifx). What gives?
My mistake. I just found response later in the thread. It would have been helpful to respond/reply to the post directly, though.
Your suggestion is noted. The forum mechanism now is that reply will be seen in the last page. Without the quoted message it will be even more confusing.

slavoisard (10/3/2016) Well, from what I remind from past product releases, it's the same thing each time...
This is so true!!
The purpose of this forum is for our users to discuss matters, official response will address tech issues and problems which require absolute answers. In the business world, sales campaign and module are constantly moving and changing. It is fluent. I don't think any business will post a price before product is released, cause in this way the company is making a promise, a verbal contract.- more like written. I think users here including myself enjoy CrazyTalk Animator. This is probably all the fuss is about. Please allow me stress this again. There will be an upgrade offer. And Reallusion do value old users.
And be kind to each other. After all we are CTA 3 lovers.

we DO have a special member offer during launch sale. So, stay tuned!! So...when do we find out about this? I have been a loyal customer of Reallusion products over the years, and I am disappointed to see questions from people like us being ignored here on the Forum for so long as witnessed in the lack of responses from the company to user questions raised above on this topic, and our being treated like second-class citizens compared to the rabid marketing for newbies. Ignore us at your peril. There are other choices out there.

Actually right now they are doing a couple things. They are busy beta testing the product to make sure you and I have no problem when it hits the market. As soon as it hits I'm sure we'll see plenty of marketing to us. In the meantime, they are giving everybody that wants to take advantage of the present offer a chance to do so.. I seriously don't think we'll be disappointed, I have a feeling the moment beta testing is done to make sure we're delivered a good product, we'll get the member offer, which we know we will as they've already said so. They're the ppl who make sure to give us a very good and well working product and frankly I wish I could send them a Christmas card. I won't though as I don't have their address, and it would be a little weird just before Halloween. Excuse my sense of humor, but these people have always given me a good product and they have promised us a good offer... they just want to make sure it works great and doesn't spontaneously combust. I can hardly wait too, but like I say, I don't think we'll be disappointed,This is most definitely going to be one of my favorite programs. We just need to let their quality control do their thing.

Peter (RL) (10/4/2016) What I do find a little surprising is to see many complaining about existing customers being treated so unfairly, BEFORE you even know what the deal is going to be for existing CrazyTalk Animator customers.
The problem is, that when the deal for existing CrazyTalk Animator customers comes out, the presale offer is over. So there is no way to compare and then choose what is best in your case.
However - I'm looking forward to CTA3, ...and to deal that is going to be much much better than the presale offer? ;)

Glad you asked. Actually you don't. If you already have all that, there will be a special offer for those that just want to upgrade around or at the time the product is released. The present offer is great for those who don't have the program yet and need content, but those of us that already do will also ge our special offer, we've been told. Right now they're beta testing the product before they release it to make sure it works just as intended when it is release to us. They do a lot of repeat business and know that if you're happy when you buy their product you'll probably buy others and/or upgrade in the future again. Frankly I want to be around for version 19 and would like them to install an upgrade button in my coffin. They will have an offer for us, as they've mentioned this a couple of times, and they always have a worthwhile upgrade product. That's why people like me do business with them, and do so multiple times. I can hardly wait to do so again.

Hi,
I'm completely new to the whole animation arena, and after having spent weeks looking for the answers, I can't seem to find what I'm looking for.
Hopefully you'll be able to answer before the CTA3 deal expires as I'd really like to grab it if it does what I want to do.
I've seen two packages that, if I could use them in conjunction with one another, would give me the perfect output that I'm looking for.
The first is CTA3.
Looking at: http://www.reallusion.com/event/cta3-presale/default.html
it shows the video where there's the pigeon, scarecrow and zombie.
I'm assuming these could be jpg's (and are not svgs)?
If CTA3 can animate a JPG or BMP / PNG (etc) as easily as this, then it's pretty much what I'm looking for.
All I'm really looking to do, here, is create a simple minor animation like a 2D character moving their arm up, and to be able to alter character poses (within the confines of the "Animate any graphic, or image in minutes" - Free-Bone Tools shows in the video (i.e. not rotating people, which I think is called 'sprites'?)
1. Does this work in the Standard version, or do you need Pro or Pipeline?
It's a bit confusing because Standard is described as "Use Content", Pro as "Modify (existing) Content" and Pipeline as "Custom Content". Animating my own pictures (say a JPG of a pigeon that I drew myself, for example) would seem to be Custom Content. Is this correct?
2. What format can I export the animation to?
Hopefully my next question isn't taboo. Again, I'm completely new to the arena and am somewhat confused by what can and can't be done. Other animation software I've looked at seem to add bone structures to SVG files. Ideally, I'd like to be able to use JPG's (as per 1 above) and then import that animated character into a different product: Motion Artist.
What format can I export the now animated JPG to? Would it be several PNG snapshots? An animated GIF? Some other format?
Apologies for the confusion. Trying to get my head around how it all fits together before the CTA3 sale expires because it *looks* as though it'll do exactly what I need, if only it can be imported into a different package!
Many thanks!

You don't have to purchase CTA2 again. When the pre-sale offer first started you could purchase other product bundles including iClone 6 or CrazyTalk 8 and still receive CTA3 free. You could also just purchase content and accumulate the required amounts needed to get CTA3 for free. Sadly as the pre-sale offer is coming to a close soon the options available are now limited. However CTA2 users will be able to upgrade for a special discount when CTA3 is released so you won't miss out on a good deal. :)

The final features of each version has yet to be announced. However in general the Standard version will allow you to animate the included characters and any characters purchased from the Content Store but will not have the character creation features of the Pro and Pipeline versions. 2. What format can I export the animation to? You can export to video (MP4, AVI, WMV etc.), Sequence Image (PNG, TGA etc.), Single Image (JPG, BMP, PNG etc.) or Animated GIF.
3. Hopefully my next question isn't taboo. Again, I'm completely new to the arena and am somewhat confused by what can and can't be done. However you can use the exported media in comic software like Motion Artist.

Thank you - that answers most everything.
Can I go back to the first part of the question:
Can I confirm you are saying, with regards to the FreeBone Tools (that allow you to animate any graphic (not just SVG)) that it definitely won't work in the Standard version?
From what little I understand, this feature that's new to version 3 doesn't relate to "characters" in version 2. Is that correct?
In version 2, it appears that you have to dismantle the "dummy" character, and replace it with bits of your own character. I understand you cannot do that with the CTA2 Standard Version. That makes sense. = Character Creation.
In version 3, it appears in your demo video that the "freebone tool" doesn't relate to an existing character - it literally *appears* to be: drag in a JPG like the pigeon, draw in a free bone, subdivide a lattice and hey-presto!
I didn't think that came under "character creation", but it's hard to tell. Could you tell me if I've got this right?
I'd really love to know because I want to purchase asap, and I want to make sure it does what I'm looking for. It's difficult to know whether to purchase, and which version to purchase when you're not certain of how it works. I wouldn't want to miss out on a great deal because I didn't get a high enough version, and equally I wouldn't want to have paid for a lot of features I don't ever use when all that's needed was in a lower version. It feels a bit like trying to buy a house when you know you need two rooms only, but not having information beyond what the front looks like. You don't want to be stuck with studio flat, or a four bedroom mansion, especially on a budget!
Put another way: Could you please let me know specifically which version (Standard, Pro, Pipeline) I need to purchase in order to be able to do exactly what is shown in this part of the demo version:
1. Import own jpg and animate exactly as with the pigeon. 2. Animate exactly as with the zombie and scarecrow, but with own jpg images. 3. Animate exactly as with the woman in the chair, using facial expressions, and speaking - exactly as shown, but with own jpg images.
If it's not currently known, is there a point before the pre-sales offer ends where you could let me/people know?! It would be *deeply* appreciated.

I know it's not a given and you might not be allowed to be too specific anyway, but I want to plan my expenses around this update. I either have to make a necessary expense now or around the end of the month, and want to make sure not to make it at the time CTA 3 will be released so I'm able to get it as soon as possible. Although I'm sure it might vary, with present prospects, in general terms, does it presently look like it might be better for me to hold off on my expense so I'll be able to jump on the new release offer, or cover it now so I'll have it available somewhat later? (I hope the new release will last long enough I'll be able to get it either way, as the presale offer has, which is nice for folks that are getting things for the 1st time) If I get hit by a mac truck I want to make sure I get this as long as I can press the mouse buttons.

Did you log into your account and see your member pricing at the Reallusion store? I don't know what the final upgrade price will be, but with the presale offer you're getting an extra CTA2 license for free. Not too shabby imho.

Hmmm seems to me that whatever they advertise as being available in Crazytalk Animator 3 (as in those "Work in progress" videos) unless it specifically mentions that features are only available in Pro and pipeline or if specifically spelled out in the edition comparison here http://www.reallusion.com/event/cta3-presale/default.html should be available in the Standard edition.
For example, they advertise "Animate any graphic, or image in minutes ... Free-Bone Tools" This looks to be available in Standard version however things like "Free bone editor" are not available as shown in the edition comparison. Animating any graphic should be available with pre-made template bone structures but customizing bone structures will not be available in Standard.

Please refer to the version comparison at the bottom of the following page: http://www.reallusion.com/event/cta3-presale/default.html You'll notice that the standard version allows you to do the following: Use Content (I believe this means using premade content. Nice, but not custom, like you're asking to do.)Basic Timeline Editing Nice but that doesn't sound like what you said you want to do, since in the video they appear to use custom bones from the free bone editor for the pigeon and scarecrow etc. which isn't a feature listed for the standard version.Pro version however gives you access to the following: Free Bone EditorFull Timeline Editing3D Motion Key EditorRender Style That free bone editor, etc is what is going to let you set up any shape under the sun to animate, and deform it. You'll notice they use the free bone editor in the video to place custom bones in the pigeon, scarecrow etc. It sounds like pro is the version you need. You can import and animate any shape under the sun, whether it's standard or not.Just for the record, pipeline version gives you access to the following:
Free Bone EditorFull Timeline Editing3D Motion Key EditorCustom Render StyleCustom Create Elastic MotionImport 3D Motion Although this version would do everything you're asking about and more, it sounds like the pro version would cover your requirements from what I can see. I don't work for RL so I don't have any special information, but that's just what I understand from reading the list of features above. Feel free to have them confirm this of course, as I'm just another user.

soytinatiu (9/16/2016) It sounds wonderful. Enough time for the sale means those of us that want it can get it for sure.Hi there The features already in CTA2 will be in CTA3. I personally checked this. But they may be presenseted in different interface. Although it has a higher learning curve multidimensional figures are a great feature/option that does something nothing else does. I love the new features, but I would be loathe to lose the ability to make multidimensional figures in pipeline when I choose to. It was already confirmed above that features wouldn't be lost, and it's fine if the interface changes... It could be an improvement, but I don't see it listed in the list of features thus, will we still be able to make multidimensional figures in one form or another even if it's in a different interface (at least in pipeline, which is what I use.)?

This was my question also. The cta3 videos do not mention the multi angle characters used in cta2 at all. While the features of CTA3 are exciting and really expand what you can do, it is not clear if all the features of CTA2 (including multi angle characters with motions you can apply to them) are also available in CTA 3.
Just wanted to confirm as the 3D motions applied to multi angle characters is an extremely important and unique feature -- as is the ability to dismantle the dummy and use your own sprites.
I saw a mention that these are definitely available but with a different user interface.
Can someone from reallusion confirm this? It is important because I would hate to have to use CTA2 for certain kinds of characters, and CTA 3 for other types of characters.
Thanks in advance.

That free bone editor, etc is what is going to let you set up any shape under the sun to animate, and deform it. You'll notice they use the free bone editor in the video to place custom bones in the pigeon, scarecrow etc. It sounds like pro is the version you need. You can import and animate any shape under the sun, whether it's standard or not.
Thank you for such an informative reply. I can't believe I'd missed the comparison table showing "Free Bone" tool only in Pro and Pipeline after having trawled through the CTA pages for so long! Must be blind...
Still a bit concerned with whether to go for Pro or Pipeline because (ignoring Standard now, which is described as "Use Existing Content"), Pro = "Modify Existing Content" and Pipeline = "Custom (own) Content".
Can the Pro version import and animate any shape under the sun, or just modify existing content?
Thanks again! At least one is definitely out of the running.

OK.. I think I'm beginning to get my head around the differences in the versions. I'd missed the CTA3 product comparison, and was using the CTA2 product comparison as a rough guide, which implied (to me) you could only use an existing bone structure in Pro, but create your own bone structure in Pipeline.
Free Bone Tools are the same in both Pro and Pipeline, and the only difference between Pro and Pipeline are:
- Custom Render Style
- Custom Create Elastic Motion
- Import 3D Motion
It does indeed look like Pro will do the job! Many thanks to you, and all that answered.

I hope we can animate photos as the demo videos say even when using the Standard version because that is why I purchased cta2 in the first place. If not, i might consider trying to get a refund because it seems to be it would be unfair advertising. The first thing they say in the demo 1 video is that you can animate any image. That statement should include the ability even in the Standard version (even if using non-customizeable bone structure). If that is not the case then they really need to be more clear on what you are getting with the standard version..

Dear Users,
Many thanks for being part of the recent CrazyTalk Animator 3 Pre-sale campaigns. For about a year now, our team has been hard at work in developing what is to be the best version of CrazyTalk Animator yet, with an awesome array of new and powerful tools that will enrich all of your 2D production needs.
The original launch date for CrazyTalk Animator 3 was set for the end of October, 2016. But during our Beta Program we received dozens of last-minute suggestions that were sure to improve on this amazing tool. In order to accommodate these improvements, we have decided to delay the release of CrazyTalk Animator 3 until mid-November, 2016. We apologize if this slight delay causes any inconvenience to some of you, but we insist on further improving this new software in order to deliver the best possible application to you.
Once again, we thank all of you for your understanding and support, and we look forward to launching this much anticipated iteration of the legendary CrazyTalk Animator!
With much excitement, The Reallusion Team

With much excitement, The Reallusion Team I can hardly wait. The wait will certainly be well worth it for additional enhancements and/or features. That makes it even better:) The more the merrier. Thanks for giving an approximation of when you hope to release the product, as I'll make sure to set something aside for it. I don't know if they see this, but be sure to congratulate the team for some really good ideas that look like they are going to make this program a joy to use - even more than before. I liked the program before. I like it even more now.

I purchased CTA2 for the sole reason to tke advantage of the the upgrade. figured I would have enough time±month to see if fit my needs. If CTA3 does not work for me, will I still be able to get a refund or, if I am not a gambler, should I go for the refund now and wait for the upgrade.

Hi ! No problem with the delay, it's much better to have an even more optimized tool in one month... The only problem is that, at the moment you announced CTA3, I imagine that like myself, most of users stopped working on new projects because they were waiting for this new version... But as it's been almost 2 month and there's another one to wait, can't you tell us a bit more about character creation ? Or even (that would be just excellent), give us the template or at least tell us more details about the best format to use (Illustrator, Flash...) so we can start working on our content for the upcoming month and be ready to explore all the new possibilities CTA will offer us as soon as it's released ?
Good luck with the final touches... Can't wait until mid-novembre :)

post_76 (10/1/2016) I sure hope timelines editing is overhauled :) in cta2 it has been frustrating to make new objects appear in a different frame than 0. I know there are several workaround, but the option to select multiple objects and keyframe all would be very welcome. Also more keyboard or mouse shortcuts to navigate, select and move would be nice.By any chance, you mean something like this?
I'm not sure what the video shows me.. What I mean is, if i'm 2 minutes in to an animation, an i suddently want to add a prop at frame 3020, currently the flow is:
* drag/drop prop onto scene * resize / position / other initialization * remove animation * hide * show * carry on animation of prop. * (maybe lock object so it wont accidentally be selected/moved when not visible)
These steps would be nice, if they were reduced to 1 step :)
Perhaps somthing like the object not being part of timeline before first entry. I would rather move appearance of object than tediously and continually go over all the above steps... In other words: Let an object have FIRST keyframe on the frame where it is dropped onto canvas.
You get where i'm going?
Best Peter

Existing customers don't expect a free copy, just a good discount. The upgrade prices should be much less than the $199 pro or $299 buy new content price. Also a larger discount if the customer is upgrading to the same level. Standard to standard, pro to pro, or pipeline to pipeline.

After we create all the animations/scenes inside CT3, can we export also an mp4 but also a movie with alpha chanel when we need to have a transparent background? Thank you ?

Great and darn at the same time. I spent my money right before this announcement came out and won't get paid again for almost 3 weeks. I really really want to get this. The previous offer lasted for a long time so anyone that wanted to get use the offer could. I hope the new offer will too as I've been looking forward to buying this forever and don't want to miss out. Will we be given sufficient time for the introductory upgrade offer like the other offer so we can have time to be able to get this I hope? I'm sure quite a few of us would be grateful if so.

I purchased CTA 2 with the inclusion of the CTA 3. I just received the notification that the CTA 3 is available. I mistakenly received windows rather than the MAC version of the CTA 3. I sent request to support to revise my account to include MAC.
Has anyone else had a problem obtaining the MAC version of CTA 3?
I hope that the issue is resolved soon by the CTA support team.

Peter (RL) (10/4/2016) Thank you all for the feedback regarding the current pre-sale offer.
When will this deal for existing CTA customers come out? Haven't received any info yet - maybe i have been fallen out from the mailing list?

I went throughout CTA3 Trial , and to my surprise I found that you have to buy an enormous amount of extra "everything" to make it as functional as the trial. My intent was to get the Pro upgrade but this will probably not work since in addition you have to get the the CAT3 actors and the Elastic motion and many others add ons...bummer

I went to my account at Reallusion and saw the offers for various editions of CTA3. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger, but still had some questions. I understand from a previous post that version 2 functionality will be available (I have version 1 now). Would like to confirm that. Also, if I buy the CTA3 Pipeline edition, will I have access to the white paper that explains how to create a G2 character from scratch? === edit === Never mind. Obviously I have a lot of catching up to do on other parts of the forum. Peace

REPLY TO MY QUESTION URGENTLY NEEDED - BOUTH CTA3 STANDARD a few days ago. Very disappointed. way below original CTA pro and much slower. However, I looked to upgrade my cta3 standard to the proversion. Cannot find how to do that because the only option the reallusion system gives me is to buy the cta3 pro version new without any discount for the cta3 standard version amount I have already paid for. Pls advise

cannot agree more. CTA3 - unless you spend 200 for the pipeline the standard version I bought is useless. In order not have lost everything I wonder whether it is worth to upgrade to cta3 PRO - but at the moment reallusion don't seem to give me that option anyway, not deducting the amount I spent on the standard version which is slow and useless.

I noticed that before the final release of CTA3 this board was steaming with messages, suggestions, complaints, etc, etc. Now there is not much to be said about CTA3, I just hope that it is because everyone is working with it and not because of any additional frustrations or let down. I for one I'm trying the Pipeline Trial with the hope of finding something substantial that will convince me to buy it.
