Hey Guys, is there a tutorial for animated water with waves and physics somewhere? I want to have a (pirate) ship sail in the ocean and attack a other vessel, so I am looking for moving waves, swell on the hull, water gushing up etc. Any tips? So far my tries are not very real looking.... (btw.: I can understand English or German.I hope that doubled the possibility.)
Thanks!

Someone did a lightwave one that apparently exported as fbx to be used with expression editor, my forum search sucks but I imagine you'd need lightwave to do it yourself or I would have grabbed the export if there were one available.

it depends on how far you want to go with it really - you could always search youtube for free green screen splashes - and composite it into your scene with a video editor - most of them are share/remix friendly - or you can go as far as using blender, modo, 3dsmax, realflow and moving your scene there - you can do a bit with iclone - but very simple / limited - The depth of detail that water and splashes can go in cg can be quite extreme and expensive in both software and time - so you kind of have to decide a cut off point of how much realism and accuracy your scene needs.
to some people the idea of making a software generate a splash that looks hyper -real - is the end game and their idea of fun, to others ...i just need a little splash so i can get on with my story is the fun.

I actually figured out a way to do ocean waves with displacement. It takes a couple tricks to get it working. I'll have a tutorial up soon. :)

On iClone 6 , water effect is limited. Water effect as visual water ( look like ) -------- > water type effect For better real motion water use another 3D tool ----------> - Cinema 4D have Free plugin for water effect ( use Hodini plugin ) - After effect ( Red giant plugin )
Back to iClone water effect . Reallusion should be evaluated this water FX for more better. ( with displacement get more result ) May be any tutorial for this.
