Version 2 is out. Would be nice to have a connection to iclone directly.
I've used this in some projects in lightwave but would be great if Iclone could have native support.

that's pretty cool,  nice find..thanks for sharing :)

They have a trial version. I think it is limited content, not expiring. I'm downloading it now.
By animagic - 9 Years Ago
I've looked at this some time ago and my impression was that you need either LightWave or 3DSMax to use it. The new version looks very nice though.
By Rampa - 9 Years Ago
Yes, it sends it's data to either of those programs. It is probably some kind of mesh-cache, as that can be very complex, yet stream well.

This is the kind of automated stuff we need to see in iClone, IMHO.
By hattori kun - 9 Years Ago
Would love to have something like this in Iclone in the future when it can handle more polys.
But the price for anima was pretty good back then and still good now. Its a perpetual license, too. Pays for itself in one project.
By planetstardragon - 9 Years Ago
it's stand alone,   green textures FTW!
By tom weston - 9 Years Ago
Anima 2 now allows you to import your own characters and motions, but other than a simple video output of the preview window, you'll still need 3ds Max or Cinema 4D to make full use of it. Alas the 'Lite' version of Cinema 4D that is now included in After Effects CC doesn't work with the Anima 2 plugin.

Hi guys - interesting stuff.

Forgive my ignorance but doesn't Max already have a crowd simulation function called Populate?

And 250 Euros + VAT does not strike me as that cheap.

Compared to the price of Max, it is...:P I also find the Anima models looking much better than the ones in Max Populate.

I am not skilled with Max, but I thought you could bring your own models in?

And if you take a course you can get a student version of Max, which helps.
By Skuzzlebutt - 9 Years Ago
the 3ds max populate
is very limited, you can exhaust all the options in under a hour.
the youtube videos will show you everything it can do quickly,
which isn't much.
basically, if you downloaded warlord's xmas scene
you have 3/4 of what it can do.
By wendyluvscatz - 9 Years Ago
I sent them a message asking for FBX export at least, if lowpoly enough this could work for iClone.

I agree you don't really need hi-poly for crowds, but you might need ancient and medieval clothing for them.

Even the crowds in Anima 2 seemed to me to be wearing out of date clothing.

Yes but with FBX import CC could be used

That'd be good.

Maybe you'd need the next upgrade - CC 1.5 ?

And in that case maybe some of the testers could tell us - if not embargoed - whether we can make the robes and cloaks and tunics that clothed humanity before the last couple of centuries.

 You're right. You're right.

But what does anyone want a crowd to do? It is not much is it?

Appropriate clothing and dialogue lines centring on 'Rhubarb, rhubarb.

They are stand and stare, stand and wave weapons, passers by or stand and talk but if the camera shot is all about the extras than there is something wrong with the shot.

well I am downloading the free demo to see what can be gotten in.
I passed on the iClone beta testing for a number of reasons some I do not wish to share but am looking forward to the release.

im sure the hobbit/lotr and wwz movies would been better if the crowds did boring stuff.

You remember what the crowds did?

Good for you.

Let's hear it for forgotten heroes

(There are so many more of them than the other kind.)

I have used Warlord Xmas scene to give the impression of a market crowd. I could have used a bit more variety, but it's OK. What I would have liked is some market-browsing behavior.

There is a crowd feature request for within iClone.

RL could use the sdk to connect to anima

And there's a sale up to the end of July.

There is a crowd simulator tool in 3DS Max that might be worth looking at - https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/3ds-max/getting-started/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2016/ENU/3DSMax-Tutorial/files/GUID-A29DAB52-114B-42B4-BFE3-B30812D7F711-htm.html
