I bought iClone Fundamentals Training Video Vol.3 Animate, but 4 video files only have sound. When I play the video it shows this:
https://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/fe6f42e9-c97b-474e-9a73-a465.png
Those 4 files are shown as below:
1) 103-06.07 Finding the end camera position for Scene 48.01
2) 103-06.08 Fixing playback issues for Scene 48.01
3) 103-06.14 Adding audio to our blocking for Scene 48.02
4) 103-06.18 Creating and intercutting a tracking POV shot
In case you don't fully understand I put the image here:

Guess I'll wait to see if this gets fixed before spending any money on them, do you have to be online to view them?
If I can't view them offline they're kinda worthless to me.  :ermm:

Thanks for the heads up RagingKylo. :satisfied:

No, you can extract those videos in the zip file. You don't need internet connection to view them. I post this issue just because 4 video of them have display issue. These courses are very helpful to me 'cause I'm new to Reallusion Workflow, but you're a iClone tutor so I don't know if those tricks can improve your skills. By the way, I feel sad 'cause no one else purchased this product  and they don't reply to this post. Thx for the reply Snarp!

I guess they are fixing the videos first before they make them available again. Peter said he will notify us.

Me too purchased the training but still need to finish downloading the block 3, hope will fixed.

Just to confirm, I have the same issues with the same 4 video files.

When you finish downloading Vol.3, please let us know  if those issue solved

Hi there,
The same - very good stuff to get to know more structured workflow. Some files seem to be broken. At the moment I counted 5 of them. So, little break until it will be sorted.
Tomasz

PS. One of the files started normally, and then went to "just sound mode" after while.
By jarretttowe - 9 Years Ago
Try converting them to another format with handbrake...sometimes bad bit rates cause everything to screw up! It may not work, but why not give it a try?
By RagingKylo - 9 Years Ago
Tried, it doesn't work.

Redownload Animate 3, problem solved

Hi All,
Does this mean the videos are all fixed now?
Been waiting, before I buy.
cheers

I received this morning an email from RL with a link to download the 5 videos with problems.
Downloaded it but didn't try to play, suppose is fixes.
By cartman - 9 Years Ago
I still can't buy it. The dang button Grayed out :(. I tired accessing it from my phone, iPad, and PC. Other application buttons aren't Grayed out just iClone 6 Fundamentals. I've even tried getting to the purchase page navigating from different parts of the Reallusion site. I was really hoping to dig into them this weekend :(.
By Peter (RL) - 9 Years Ago
Just to confirm we have fixed this problem with the videos and will be notifying all those that purchased by email.

You can re-download from your Member Account to get the updated zip file. Apologies for the inconvenience.

It sounds like you are not selecting an Edition first. Choose one of the 5 options as shown in the image below and then the Buy button will become active.

It is good to see this, because it should save alot of time if you are a newcomer.
Expensive, but probably not if your time is worth anything to you.

By animagic - 9 Years Ago
I'm not a newcomer, but I'm still considering getting it, just to see how it is taught. I've learned iClone in a very unsystematic way (by using it) and some areas are still a mystery.
By Delerna - 9 Years Ago
I am not an iClone professional but I am not a newcomer either but I bought this expecting it would be good to watch the workflows someone else does to complete their projects...start to end as much as the potential of learning things.
Gone through the introductory user interface course. The majority I knew however I did learn a few things I didn't know. A few things I didn't realise and a few things I had forgotten about.
Going through the scene creation course now (and doing the projects as instructed). About 1/6th of the way through it and not learning that much yet however I am finding that it is indeed good to see someone else's workflow in a complete beginning to end process. I will probably adjust some of my workflows because of this so that is worth something.
The animation and lighting is what I am looking forward to most of all but I can tell you that there is so much to do within all 4 courses that its going to take a quite a while to get through it all.
So I think its going to be pretty thorough, it has been so far. He also deliberately makes mistakes in order to demonstrate how to find out why things happen and how to fix them.
ie. The course is not a flow of everything working perfectly in the first attempt, he "accidentally" discovers common problems that occur as he goes through the development of the project and then shows how to fix them.

Is it worth the $79 I paid? It certainly depends on the completeness of your knowledge I suppose and its too early for me to say yet but for me......yes I think it will be.
Learning iClone I have found is like putting together a jigsaw puzzle. This is going to help me link what I know together better I think
Also, the instructors presentation voice is growing on me. He does a pretty good job.

So in conclusion.
Yes I am glad I bought it

Greetings everyone,

I am Alan Marques and I am responsible for the iC6 Fundamentals training series in so much that I recorded it and indeed it is my face & voice that you have to live with.  Sorry about that.

I would like to apologies on behalf of MakinMovies in regard the damaged videos in the course.  We did try and double check everything and did ask if we could test the installer before public release but that seemed to slip through the net.  I generated hundreds of assets and more than 450 videos and 51 hours of recordings which took many months, so the reality is that we have made some mistakes.  Again my apologies.

We also discovered that the audio dialogue for the actors in the F103 course was missing from the delivery and again this as well as the Media offline issue has already been fixed.  If you still do not receive an update to the files you have downloaded then please mention it in this thread and I will check for you.

I very much hope that people find this course useful and I would like to say thank you for the positive comments so far in this thread.  Having said that I am not complacent and if anyone feels there are issues or they would like to make a comment on the presentation/content etc then I am very happy to take on-board constructive criticism, no one is above learning anything new not even myself after all my years in the industry I still learn many new things to this very day and indeed into the future.

One of the reasons I love this industry.

All the best

Alan Marques

There are so many repetitive content in F104: Light & Render! When I unzip part 1, i.e., iClone_6_Fundamentals_F104_Light_Render1, this is what I got (as shown in the picture below): it shows there're 83 files in total, but after I play them one by one, most of them are repetitive, they're just duplicates. These courses are very useful, please check this issue and fix it.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention.  I am including a list of all the videos in this course for you to check.  Having looked at your screen grab it looks like the course is incomplete regardless of the annoying duplicates but it would be good to confirm this if you have the time.  I have checked the delivery folder on the server that Reallusion has access to and I can find no issues with the contents  In fact the list that you see here is a listing of that very folder.  My best guess is an error was made when Reallusion packaged up the contents of that folder for delivery but I cannot state that for a fact as I do not work directly for RL so did not play a part in the packaging and marketing.

Having said that it is a big error for which I apologise.  I have notified Reallusion and asked them to not only check the delivery but also to get back to me when it is fixed so that I can make sure everyone is aware that it has been dealt with.

In the interim here is the list of videos that should be there for the F104 course:

I manually deleted all those duplicates and yes it's correct. But I still hope RL fix this in the first place before they put them in the content store so it can save us lots of time. That said, your trainging courses is very helpful to me, plz keep up the good work! I'll be the first one to buy them.

I can confirm the duplicate videos in F104.

I would also really like to know just who came up with the glorious idea of wasting users' time by forcing them to constantly load clips under 30 secs in a video player!!!! :alien::w00t: A first term AE could have edited the stuff into a meaningful length using Windows Media player. :Whistling:

I use VLC Media Player to play videoclips and there you can create a playlist to see all parts without a break. You can jump through the playlist and save it for later use.

Gerry greetings, as mentioned earlier in this thread we are happy to receive comments about the course material both good and bad.  I will pass your comments onto MakingMovies.  I am not trying to duck the issue here other than to state that although I designed and recorded all the material the actual editorial, by that I mean the editing and titles cards etc, was handled by MakingMovies which was the arrangement due not only to the volume of work involved but also the fact that they were funding the creation of the course.  We had quite a few discussions about length of videos as if you look at the likes of Lynda.com they general do not have any video shorter than about a one minute, though there are a few.  Also the length was an issue too with their videos being anywhere from a few minutes to 15-20 minutes in length.  Very seldom it seems that a recording of more than 20 minutes was considered a good thing.  When I was on a roll mentally some of my recordings ran to an hour of more.  With those it was felt we should go through the recordings and find natural break points and chop them into shorter segments.  I fully take on board your comments about the really short videos and will pass on your comments.  Also Reallusion wanted me to do a lot of to camera presentations which as you might be aware most trainers tend not to do so some of those are also short and sweet as to do those I need to use a tele-prompt. So very time consuming and they needed to be kept short to avoid errors and reduce the amount of time it take to set your room up with lighting/camera etc.

Thank you for you comments I will take them on board and also pass them on to MakinMovies.

Hi everyone.  I have just received notification from my contacts at Reallusion that the F104 video delivery has been fixed and re-uploaded to user accounts.  That should mean that you can now re-download the video content from you account if you wish and hopefully this time around it will be correct.

Again sorry about this and please let me know if it it either working OK or indeed not fixed if it turns out that remains the case?

Hi Alan,
I can confirm that the 104 series videos have been corrected in the downloads, but you have to delete the video folder first or it will only replace the correct files. :)
I like the format myself, I used SMPlayer to make playlists of the chapters once I saw how they were separate small videos, no big deal.  What I like about SMPlayer is that it remembers where I left off even if in the middle of a video.

I personally think these type of training videos are long over due and wish something like this was available when I first jumped into iClone 5, I have a bad habit of only learning what I need to know to do a certain thing, which has left a lot of gaps in what I need to know now, so these courses will definitely help me to get on track and speed up my work flow.  Good Job Alan! :)

I just bought and downloaded, so I haven't had a chance to check. It's seems though that  somewhere along the line something went wrong with the QA.
By Alan_M - 9 Years Ago
Hi Animagic,

Sorry about the issues. I did actually refer earlier in the thread to this, page three I believe, where I commented on the fact that we had asked to test the public installers before the course was released. However no one got back to me on this and the next thing I knew the course was out in the wild.

This is one of the reasons I am spending my time here on the forum trying to help people rather than leave everyone listening to static.  Also I very much hope the course is useful to people and and if stuff needs fixing then I wish to deal with it and get it sorted with Reallusion so that in the future this does not happen again.

At the end of the day if the course does not sell well which will not be helped by these issues then we may not get to do another more advanced one.

Thank you for your comments.

Alan, I also would like to add my appreciation in the way you handle things and give us updates as to the status of any fixes. My comment was not meant as a criticism of you personally. It's just that I had just downloaded the whole thing and then read there were still some glitches.

I really look forward going through the course. I've used iClone for a long time and learned along the way. But there are still mysteries. so this will be a welcome addition to get to know iClone more systematically and in depth.

Come on Reallusion get your act together more items missingout of Animate 103-06.

1.The only PDF file is the T0C v003. There’s no scripts plusno framing guide.

2.No TBS Scene 48 Dialogue.

I think Alan has done an excellent job and you are lettinghim down with your slow reaction to getting things right.

By Alan_M - 9 Years Ago
Hi George,

This one is totally my fault.  Nothing to do with Reallsion other than the afore mentioned lack of the opportunity to test out the public installer before delivery.  Had a huge amount to deal with with this course including having to use alphas of iC6 to get around finding that a core feature no longer worked.  RL were great in getting us fixes so we could keep moving forward.  But it did make the whole course difficult to create when you suddenly come across a show stopper that stops you dead in your tracks.

In my defence a lot of what I found are now fixed bugs in the current release so there was some benefit from the process of creating the course in that area.

I have sent you a PM with the link to the file and will send an update to RL.

Master Marques, a simple question if I may? When I use Autodesk Maya to rotate an object, I can rotate it clockwise or counterclockwise, and the rotation value will be positive or negative. But in iClone, seems it cannot pass the 359.9°  limit. If I continue to rotate in that direction, then rotation value go back to 0.1. It can never be a negative value. And in modify panel, I can't type a value exceed 359.9, even in After Effects, I can type 10x+359° and it equals 3959°. Is there a problem with my settings (I use the default setting) or it's just the iClone way of rotation?
https://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/d1c0801a-5b47-417b-91e1-098d.png
By wires - 9 Years Ago
iClone rotates positive from 0 to 360 in 0.1° steps, and negative from 360(0) to 0 in 0.1° steps - without the - (minus) prefix.

RagingKylo greetings,  (I have been waiting to type that for ages, awesome)

Gerry is correct, this is simply the way iClone works I am afraid.  I have recorded a short video for you which I hope will demystify how things work.

You can download it here:

Please let me know if it makes sense.

Thanks a million Master Marques!! But I find another issue: this great trick works on axis X and Z, but not axis Y. After I put value "180" at frame 50 and go to frame 100, it automatically set axis X and Z as "180" (as the picture shown below):

I think maybe it's a "Gimbal Lock" thing? But in Maya I can just set the rotation order to zxy and solve the problem, and in iClone I don't know how to set the rotation order

It is indeed gimbal lock and in iClone changing the rotation order is not an option.  Also gimbal lock can be an issue regardless of rotation order so typically animating plane for example you use nested controllers.  So in this case make an object and turn it into a dummy object so it can be easily hidden.  Attach you actualy cube to the dummy object so it has become a child of it.  You can now do your top-level rotation on the dummy object and then go down a level to use rotation on the other axis.  For flexibility you can use a different object for each axis of rotation you want to deal with. Thereby giving you control of X, Y & Z completely separately.  Also if you do not get the results you want using attach you can use the Linkage controller instead.  Only difference being as mentioned in my tutorials you have to save that as a iproject.

Thanks again for the amazing suggestions!! The problem is, when I want to create a cycle animation for the 4 Propellers of AC-130 (as picture shown blew, I made them sub-props of the aircraft), I can't use the attach or linkage method. Because the propellers are child of the aircraft, they've already been attached to AC-130 and the linkage option greyed out. (The prop above the aircraft is the dummy object I made)

That said I really appreciate your help, a billion thanks! And I've learned a lot from your training courses. So I really hope you'll do the advanced courses, I believe they'll sell well 'cause I've bought the F103 and F104 already and still want more. Please keep them coming!!

OK the way you need to do this I am afraid is you will need to use Maya or Blender etc.  You need to extract the geometry for the props in Maya say.  This then becomes a prop all on its own.  Then delete all the props from the aircraft and save a version without them.  Take that aircraft into iclone along with the single prop, so two completely separate exports from 3DX.  You can pre-animate the single prop before you copy it.  That way you get all the copies doing the same cycle.  Take those four animated props offset then to the right positions and then attach them to the aircraft and save the aircraft into your custom Props library.

Ultimately though you can actually animated subprops one in iClone if you have set them up properly.

OK here you go.  A video showing you how to do Sub-Props on propellers on a AC-130 in 3DXchange.

Thanks Master Marques!! Although I know how to make subprops in 3dXchange, your video tutorial showed me some fresh ideas, such as how to merge multiples parts to a big "sub"-prop. It's really a surprise 'cause I didn't know I can do that. Nice job!! So it seems we had to do the propeller animation in external applications then export to iClone via 3dXchange? It's a little sad if it can't be done in iClone alone.  'cause as the video shows, even if you import the aircraft into iClone, the Gimbal Lock issue still exists. I can rotate the propellers in Y axis with my mouse(like you did at the end of the video), yet I still can't go to frame 100 without messing up the X&Z value. So I have one last request (if I may): would you please finish the AC-130 tutorial ( one propeller will suffice)? So I can fully understand how to do a Y axis rotation (especially propeller rotation animation) in iClone 6. If it's time consuming, please ignore this request. Thanks Master! Have a Nice Day!

Hi there, its not so much that you have to do the animation in the external app than the fact you need to isolate the propeller so that it goes into iC6 on its own as a prop.  Once in iC6 you can make an animation rig for it to get around the gimbal issue and then link, Link, but not Attach, that rig to the Aircraft.

I will see what I can do about the AC-130 tutorial.  I am back to my day job tomrrow so you struck lucky today in regard me free time.

all the best

I finally find a solution: just ignore the annoying Gimbal Lock issue, animate from frame 1 to 50 and collect the clip, then add a perform command and loop the animation. Just stay away from frame 100 and everything goes fine. This idea is inspired by your amazing video tutorial you sent me. So thanks again, I'm looking forward to the advanced courses.

Very glad you got it nailed.

I hope we get to do some advanced courses, it may be worth it to set up a thread asking people what interests them.  In the interim feel free to put in a good word for the tutorial series with your iClone contacts as the better the course does the more likely it will be that we will get to do a follow up.  We shall cross our fingers for the future.

All the best

That's right. I've already recommended them to my friends. What's needed most to reach the full potential of iClone? To me it's how to use iClone indigo render plugin. You can post a new topic so we'll vote what interests us. Most of us invested $200-$2000 to get the software and content (Daz3d content included) and can't find some intuitive courses on the whole internet. Even on Lynda.com and DigitalTutors.com there's no such courses at all.
