Hi just wondered if It's possible to bake the softcloth dynamics into the mesh for export to fbx via 3dxchange?

I went through the baking tuts in iclone so you can play back in real time but this is lost on export to 3dxchange.

is it a limitation or I#m I doing something wrong.

thanks

Good question Jamie ! Was about to ask the same question and had the same experience ...
Looking forward to an answer !

I don't have Pipeline but I'm pretty certain that it isn't possible.

The exported file would need to consist of something that describes the clothing mesh along with changes in position over time of the vertices of the mesh.  .MDD file format does that but .FBX doesn't.  (.FBX seems to be for bone-based animation data).

The forthcoming clothing creation tools might change things but I have no way of knowing.

Ok, That makes sense.

Shame, because iclone soft cloth is pretty good.

just the ability to export obj would be nice for making morphs, draped objects etc, I do that with Poser but the iClone cloth drapes nicer

That would be nice  to have . No Idea why that is not already possible  :ermm:

I hope RL will fix it

It would require vertex animation support, which is how it would be recorded in FBX. It's not a simple "fix", but it might be useful to request.

Yup, it's absence might be down to lack of Sub-Object abilities which I believe is needed for Vertex Animation, or so sw00000p tells me!
