Hello folks, this coming weekend TMUnderground is holding 3 days of events starting on Friday the 19th with Ben Tuttles's IClone Film School.  Previous episodes of Ben's series have covered cinematography, Blender Basics and Iclone 101 topics.  Directly following Ben's show Macwemyss and myself will be presenting our favorite TMU movies from 2015 of which there are many Iclone selections.  Then on Saturday the 20th there will be a live premier of The Great TMU Movie.  This 85 minute movie tells the past present and future of TMU and was made using Iclone, CTA, Muvizu and Moviestorm with contributions from over 40 TMU members.  Finally on Sunday, Ken, Monk and Roger will get the gang back together again for the 10th TMOA Radio anniversary.  The chat rooms should be jumping with members old and new.  It will be a good opportunity to get involved, get motivated and see what folks are up to.  I hope to see you there.

More details will be added to this thread as the week progresses.

The new TMUnderground movie site is currently in beta at http://beta2.movies.tmunderground.com/ and should go live this week.  Signing up in beta will carry over to the live site.  You can access the TMU forums at http://forum.tmunderground.com/

Are there any provisions that listeners have to be aware of? Things like being registered with TMU. It used to also be the case that a separate registration was required for the chat room. Will there be a chat room? I haven't tuned in for a while so things have probably changed.
By thebiz.movies - 9 Years Ago
Hi Animagic,
I pretty sure you do not need to be logged in to watch the live feed or the radio broadcast.  The chatroom has been updated but I dont remember if you have to log in there or not (and whether that login is tied to the TMU login).  Ill try to research it today and give a definitive answer.

BenTuttle's Iclone Film School tonight (6pm EST) should be of particular interest to many Iclone/CT/CTA users as it is concerned with voice overs.  How to get them (how and where to cast parts), how to clean them and I believe he will be going over basic sound design as well.  Then at 8pm EST we will be looking at our favorite TMU movies of 2015.  There are a whole lot of great Iclone movies ion there.  Hope to see a lot you good folks there. .

Ken just sent out an email which details many of the recent changes and improvements at TMU (and addresses Animagics chatroom question).  If you have been a member of TMU you may have received this email today.  For others I will repost it here:

"Ten years ago, the TMOA/TMUnderground community was born.

Now, as we begin our second decade, we've made changes to revitalize the community. We have new forum software, new movie site software, an integrated community chatroom, live video and audio programming, cloud storage for our members, and more. Let me briefly tell you about some of the changes, and invite you to our "Weekend of TMU" beginning February 19th, 2016.

The new forums: We've moved from vBulletin to IPBoards. Your existing forum username/password will get you in, and all of the threads and posts from the past 7 and a half years are there. IPBoards has a lot of nice features, and is quite an improvement over vBulletin.

New movie site software: After 7 and a half years, our Sharemixer video script was showing it's age, so we've moved to KVS. KVS is a modern video platform, using HTML5 to stream video. You can watch your favorite TMU films and new releases on any device - computer, phone, tablet. All videos, comments, PMs, friend list, etc. have been brought into KVS, and your existing movie site username/password will get you in. We've only had KVS running for a week and a half, and the formatting and interface are still works in progress, but we plan to concentrate on the movie site after the "Weekend of TMU".

Chatroom: Gone is the old Flashchat chat room we ran during TMOA shows. We're now running an chatroom that is integrated with our forum user database. If you log into the forum and click the Chat button on the navigation bar, you will automatically be logged into the full-featured chat. Like the video site, the chat is HTML5, so you can chat on computer, phone, or tablet without issue. No flash. No java. Just chat.

Live programming: We've revamped the TMOA interface, with an HTML5 player that will work on any device. More importantly, we've added live video streaming to TMU, and plan to host special live events (such as the "Weekend of TMU") and regular live community events like movie nights and director retrospectives moving forward.

Cloud storage: TMUCloud is now integrated into the site, which lets you easily upload and share files, embed screenshots in forum posts, etc.

With all that said, we're officially kicking things off (call it our Grand Reopening) with a "Weekend of TMU".

Friday, February 19th, 2016:
A live broadcast of iClone Film School, hosted by Ben Tuttle. 6pm Eastern, 3pm Pacific, 11pm GMT.
theBiz and Macwemyss look at their Favorite TMU films of 2015. 8pm Eastern, 5pm Pacific, 1am GMT.

Saturday, February 20th, 2016:
An encore presentation of theBiz and Macwemyss's Favorite TMU films of 2015. 12:45pm Eastern, 9:45am Pacific, 6:45pm GMT.
The live premiere of "The Great TMU Movie", a look at the past, present, and future of the TMOA/TMU community, with contributions from more than 40 TMU members. 4pm Eastern, 1pm Pacific, 9pm GMT.

Sunday, February 21st, 2016:
The TMOA 5-hour 10th Anniversary Show, with Ken, Roger, theMonk, RPOshard, and special guests. 2pm Eastern, 11am Pacific, 7pm GMT.

You can get to any of these events, or any part of TMU, by going to http://forum.tmunderground.com and using the navigation bar at the top (Live for video programming, Radio for TMOA, and Chat for the chatroom).
Hope to see you in the community and at the "Weekend of TMU" events.
Ken"

Whew, day one is in the books.  Good times were had with BenTuttle and the Boys in their Google Hangout FIlm School session.  Then the Favorites of 2015 Show went over well after some minor technical issues and the chat room was a rollicking good time.  It was a marathon movie watching session as we strolled through roughly 3 hours of TMU movies.  So, whats in store for today?

  • An encore presentation of theBiz and Macwemyss's Favorite TMU films of 2015. 12:45pm Eastern, 9:45am Pacific, 6:45pm GMT.
  • The live premiere of The Great TMU Movie, a look at the past, present, and future of the TMOA/TMU community, with contributions from more than 40 TMU members. 4pm Eastern, 1pm Pacific, 9pm GMT.

So if you missed the good times last night we are running that beat back.  Watch our 2015 favorites and then settle in for "The Great TMU Movie" at 4pm EST.  Hope to see you folks there!

Okay, and we're down to the final day of the Weekend of TMU.

And it's the TMOA 10th Anniversary Show!

What will we have?

Well, we'll have original host Roger for the FULL five hours. We'll have Monk for the FULL five hours. Of course, you'll have Me for the FULL five hours. RPOShard will be there in the later part of the show with his annual Oscar predictions.

And we'll have guests! Jase180 plans to sit in for a while. Chris62 says he'd like to come in for a bit. In the third hour, we hope to have the Wolf and Dulci reunion (according to Dulci, they haven't spoken since their final show....talk about awkward!) And I'm sure we'll have some other folks who will volunteer or be dragged from the chat room to dance and sing for your entertainment pleasure.

Plus lots of other stuff you haven't heard in a long time - perhaps...a decade.

It all begins at 2 pm Eastern, 1 pm Central, 11 am Pacific, and 7 pm GMT. To listen, click the radio tab at the top of the page. Start the stream. Then, as that builds the aural frenzy in your ears, click the chat tab, and come on in! If you're logged into the forum, it will automagically log you in. If not, just login with your forum stuff, or come in as a guest and put your name in so we know who you are. We are making a list and checking it twice.

Ten years! Had I known what was to come, I would have walked into the warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean and waited until the waves closed over my head and I gently drifted away.

But I didn't know. So here we all are. And I'll see you all there, at the show.

Ken

I just got this uploaded today!

As part of TMU weekend we decided to create a program that would emphasize the current vitality of TMU by showing some of our favorite movies of 2015.  This list is not exhaustive and is largely culled from my own Movie of the Month thread.  This means there are indeed plenty of other good movies on TMU from 2015 but this is the list I came up with.  Then Macwemyss sat with me to watch and basically review the movies in a video call.  In addition to Skype we recorded using video cameras and Mac has a super fancy one and spent some time working with Ben Tuttle to establish professional looking lighting.  I felt a bit inferior but eh, what can you do.  To even things up I threw Kid Millions in at the start to get the "cuteness" card on my side.  There's also a whole lot of glasses being worn and the occasional hat.  In the original premier on February 19th 2016 we showed many of the movies in their entirety.  Due to upload restrictions I have edited all the movies into clips and had to break the the program into two parts.  There might be some occasional rough edits in there but I hope we convey the fun we had chatting about TMU movies and I hope you might be intrigued enough to search these movies out, watch and review them.

Now please enjoy the show!

By pumeco - 9 Years Ago

Same here, sounds very cool but the links are broken.

By thebiz.movies - 9 Years Ago
The Movie Site has been down since last night.  I believe they are moving it from Beta to the Live server.  Will update this thread when its fixed (should be soon I think).  Thanks for the heads up.
By thebiz.movies - 9 Years Ago
The Movie Site is up (and no longer in Beta!) and those links should work.  Clear your browser cache if you continue to have problems and then if that fails contact me.  Thanks!

Hey Biz, it's working now, just watched Part 1 and am saving Part 2 for next week.

Have to say I enjoyed the enthusiasm, both your's and that mad Scottish bloke!
You've given me something to watch tonight as well, that Asylum movie looks interesting and I like them long, I'll have to watch that over supper tonight :D

I just joined TMU myself but I think it'll be a year or two until I have something to show.  I think the site looks good, and thumbs-up to you for choosing the HTML5 player, that's definitely the way to go I reckon, you can even download the files to hard-disk by right-clicking - great stuff :)

By thebiz.movies - 9 Years Ago
Im glad you enjoyed Pumeco and Im glad youve signed up over at TMUnderground (I did not know about this right click download...will look into this.  Thanks for the tip).  We've got a Movie night going on this Saturday that I bet you will enjoy.  Three Iclone flicks and a good MovieStorm one to boot!

I screwed-up there, Biz, sorry.   I noticed last night when I tried to download Asylum 3 to watch it offline, the player was not the one I thought it was.  I thought it was the standard HTML5 player, and I know that if you right-click on those, you can save the video to your computer.  Here's the official HTML5 Player that can be embedded anywhere and should work on every device :

If you right-click on the video shown at the link, you should get an option to save to disk (this is the default HTML5 player I thought you'd used).
http://www.w3schools.com/html/html5_video.asp

Regards Movie Night; 6pm EST, that's 11pm where I am and nowhere near my bedtime, so I'll see if I can view it live this time, thanks for the heads-up!

By pumeco - 9 Years Ago

Biz, just a heads-up ...

On your "Favourite Movies of 2015" videos, you have the best player and it's possible to right-click that player and download.
The one used on Asylum 3 is a different player, it's still HTML5 but pointlessly restricted like those horrible Flash players.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know, cause whatever you did to implement the player on your own videos, that same player would make the best default player for the site :)
In effect, you already have it working, but only on certain videos :P
