Is the clothing TIED to the character you create, or is it swappable like all the previous character versions?
For example if you create a guy with boots, jeans, and a t-shirt.
Can you remove the shirt & boots, and swap out the jeans for swim trunks so that he doesn't swim with all his clothes on?.

Yes! You can do that. Not only can you save different configurations in the CC, but you can also save the clothing separately in iClone. There is even a "conform" panel available in iClone if you need it. So.....If you save some CC shorts in iClone, you could load them onto your character wearing pants, and they would take the place of the pants. If they are underwear, they'll apply under existing pants. You can also delete a piece of clothing right in iClone and the skin/clothing underneath it will reappear if it was hidden.

Cool. With this new system, I didn't know how the clothes were treated. Especially since I've seen topic titles about conforming the clothes to the character which made it sound like the clothes were integrated into the avatar.

Any CC clothing will fit any CC character, and you can layer many items as well. Hopefully they're very busy creating lots more clothing!
I highly recommend checking out all the CC tutorials here. I learned a lot from them. The CC ones are all at the top if you sort by "newest".

OK, I am totally new to iClone and a bit confused and overwhelmed about this clothing compatibility issues. I have Essentials pack, but there is not enough variety available to choose from. I watched some tutorials about modifying/playing with cloth materials, photoshopping a mesh.. etc... but I was hoping to get a quick solution...
So this nice looking pack for Gwynn cannot be used with character I created in CC (or is there a trick to make it work?  )
Also about G6 characters cloth. I installed a bonus pack with Heidi_Alley collection hoping I might be able to use that cloth for my character... only to find out that cloth is built into Heidi's avatar...

Any older cloth types are not compatible with CC characters. All CC cloth is compatible with any CC character. So any clothing created for Heidi or Mason, or older characters, is not going to work.
Reallusion will be releasing more clothing, and a way for developers to create their own clothing. The flood-gates will probably open up in the next couple months. The start is always slow.
