It is a quite amazing improvement and a real game-changer for me personally, but will it be possible to e.g. reduce the default female breasts sizes to something more realistic? And also will they have any natural "bounce" because currently female avatars look like they are walking around with huge concrete-filled balloons on their chests. I know this is to appeal to a certain demographic but I would like to be able to make movies with normal-looking people in them Wink
By JIX - 9 Years Ago
Yup, I also think this pretty awesome tool is a game changer, but I don´t know what primaveranz is talking about ...

Over here the girls in real life are like that! Tongue

Just kidding of course, but seriously I´m not sure if virtual films should be just a place for "normal looking" people. Where else is a better place for the "abnormal"? That´s why, I was asking for a "Creature Creator" in another thread.

Anyways, it´s real-time-ly fantastic to have all options with that upcoming tool! Thumbs up!

Many core questions about the Character Creator still remain unanswered. Realistically I don't expect we will know the full extent of the functionality, options and possible restrictions until it is finally released.

Progress preview vids help prevent me feeling jilted whilst RL play “Catch up” on some of the IC6 features they promoted and I pre-paid for back in Dec2014.

Credit where it's due. Very, very pleased to see RL trying to improve on their poor reporting practice of previous years. This time they do seem to be making the effort to keep their customers on board during a prolonged wait. This has certainly helped to rescue what was becoming my waining interest in IC6 in general and G6 characters in particular.

Looks like the Character Creator will be a great asset to the Iclonetoolbox.....bring it on ! Smile

With the new characters soon to be released, we should consider placing Mason and Heidi on an endangered species list.Tongue

This looks very exciting to me.
I don't want to have to learn how to model my own characters from scratch in a 3rd party tool (my time and energy are finite), and it looks like this will give me a lot of power and flexibility to create unique characters from within iClone.

Thanks for the preview.
Looking forward to playing with it and seeing what the masters are able to do.

(This, plus a bridge for Perception Nueron MoCap, and you won't be hearing from me for a decade...)

Would it be posible to get some what Cartoony results with this creator?

Been a long time Daz fan and PC member,  for the first time Reallusion has me considering the need for a PC membership. If the character designer and ZBrush plugin work as promised we can create and skin pretty much any human type character inside IClone.

Hope we don't have to wait to much longer to get our creative hands dirty Tongue

I whole Heartedly agree! I am a Zbrush user and I am pretty green with Iclone but I love it. I think its the most complete animation package out there. I look forward to a GOZ plugin for zbrush and all the new toys they promise to bring us for Xchange and IClone!!!

I posted req's non-stop at Daz begging them to do something with their God awful animation capabilities in DS, and was completely ignored. I'm really hoping Reallusion does this right then I'll be a total convert.

Looks very cool.

On the matter of "realism", I agree with earlier comment that it would be a shame if proportions of body parts can't be adjusted to meet the demands of realism  in animation and design. But I'll go one step further and say it would be a shame if these characters are missing genital anatomy because we're all meant to be ashamed of our own (or whatever reason for not having these parts). It would be good to make Roman statues or similar with proper and realistic human anatomy. Other applications such as medical imagery - missing body parts then becomes a joke itself if everything else is realistic. But even for art and design sake, lack of male parts means there's no bulge down there.. depending on the clothing. I suppose I could attach an object there or something if needed, but would be better to have it as part of the model. Would the clothing even conform to added geometry?

Anyway.. it all looks promising regardless of the castrated male look! So much for our big hero characters with huge muscles and warrior tattoos ... They will need high-pitch voices to match their unfortunate condition!

By justaviking - 9 Years Ago
It is not always an issue of modesty... The male nude model does have a bulge that is probably sufficient for most clothed situations.  Further detail would probably just be "extra" polygons that merely add complexity to the avatar without improving anything for 99+% of the animations.

However, you make a good case for having it available for those who need more detail.

well Redrum.. i would agre with you in that matter. the demand for realism, and the lack of.. or the desire not to have cretain realism, is indeed interesting. But, not to long ago. there was a big ho down about that very subject, involving a content devoloper's desire to provide such a thing. all hell broke lose, upon the fear of someone making porn movies using iclone. or un-supervised children seeing such material in the marketplace. of course fear, and shame always rules the day. and besides.. if one would desire to make porns, iclone would be the worst program in the world to do such a thing. the limitations of the skin mesh, and restraints on character movement, would not allow such a thing to happen. or at least, make it look way to stupid. deformations in the mesh would blow the whole effect.. bad enough characters get deformed trying to do complex movements in iclone to begin with. let alone trying to make a silly porn.. geez.. anyway, good luck trying to get that done.. or thru.. i'm just happy being able to get the simple things in iclone done..

Holy Moses...... I feel like I'm the only one on Planet iClone.

After reading the first few posts and  seeing a collective of bitching sessions and further on the thread's become nothing more than a hyper "mildly associated" wish list with leanings towards habitual alternate software accustomisations....

I'll just remind people what the post is about.
Watch the video again. jeez.

BRILLIANT!
I think this is stunning. From the perspective of an Animator, NOT a modeller.......  but as an Animator, this tool is incredible and very required.
I take it it's external to iClone and then we import the edited Avatar straight into iClone? So will be a purchased add-on.
It's a step closer to that Poser realism.
We don't always want realistics BUT, even in Avatarical "Realism" they still look like avatars.
Perhaps we should transpose the word realistic for Beautiful.

The ageing process is a stunner. I love it.  THAT in itself is something unique to my imagination with iClones direction. I didn't expect that.
The way the body sags and literally the muscles droop and tin out. Superb. I didn't notice if it also bent the spine accordingly in a hunch. is that coming?
The decorative measures for the face makes it easier for the newcomer, I can understand that, and the blending of colours.... I think...... was Super. I like that.
Strange that you haven't incorporated the smoothing into the Engine. Are you going to do this. Purely for the sake of cosmetics and visual finalities???
When you're working on makeup you want that smooth edge so that you can watch the shadow line.

Overall I thought this was incredibly appealing  to see such a large step in Avatar Generation and I look forwards to using it a lot.
Congratulations to the programmers. It must be really exciting to see something this massive start to take a v.1.0 shape.

sort of interesting considering that it is actually possible to buy a "fully equipped" male character from the market place, like this one for example:

hah, yeah. Although when I last visited Canada in 2011,  I stayed within like a 100 mile radius from Niagara Falls but within that relatively small area saw traffic signs pointing to 3 different nude beaches. I was surprised, if not for the fact that I have not seen signs for that here in the US then because I did not think it was all that warm there. But each to their own;-)

Yes, looks very good.  Very exciting.  Yadayada.

Yet again I'm baffled by the choice of going with 2K texture maps.  We've got 4K rendering now.  We need 4K maps.  I hope they'll address this by release time comes around...  When can we expect that, by the way...  Christmas?  Last time I checked that's Q4, not Q3, as we've previously been told.  Q3 ends when September does.  So I guess we'll see it then?  RL is purposefully mute on this subject.

Also - I hope they will give us more clothing options besides:

1. a spaghetti strap dress
2. a pair of jeans
3. a tank top
4. a blazer

We NEED TO BE ABLE TO MAKE CLOTHES FOR CHARACTERS.  We need a full replacement for Clone Cloth.    No word on that.  Anybody?  (knock, knock, knock)  Hello???

And if there's to be no Clone Cloth replacement, then we NEED A WAY TO CONFORM CLOTHING WE MAKE IN 3RD PARTY PROGRAMS TO G6.

IT'S BEEN 8 MONTHS SINCE THE RELEASE OF ICLONE 6 AND STILL NO CHARACTER CREATION TOOLS FOR G6.

RL, are you listening?

1. WE NEED FULL-CHARACTER CREATION (MORPHING) CAPABILITY: CHARACTER MESH, HAIR, CLOTHING
2. THIS MEANS WE ALSO NEED TO BE ABLE TO CONFORM CLOTHING (shirts/jackets/pants) FROM 3RD PARTY PROGRAMS
3. WE NEED FULL-CHARACTER CONVERSION FROM 3RD PARTY PROGRAMS - THE DAZ>ICLONE (G2) PIPELINE IS BROKEN!!!  WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO FIX THIS (2 MONTHS AND COUNTING!)

You have to remember that iClone is realtime animation software. It isn't just a case of adding 4K unless you are only interested in static images and not animation.

Have you been away from the forum for a while? It has been stated many times that the Character Creator is scheduled to be released in the 3rd quarter 2015 and we are still on course for that until September 30th. Wink

Character Creator comes with a selection of clothing that can be fully customised like CloneCloth. In addition we will be releasing further add-on clothing packs to build up your library.

RL, are you listening?

Yep that's why we have these Character Creator videos to show all the exciting things that what we have coming in iClone 6.2. Smile

True, iClone focuses on realtime, but...

We can set max resolution on textures.  We can change anti-aliasing values and other settings when we render.

It seems to me a person could cap the realtime texture size to 1k if you wanted to, and be able to animate smoothly in realtime.  The fluid realtime animation is extremely important while you are editing.

But when it comes time to render your output, I already have many cases where the final render is not realtime anyway.  Why not allow the author to use 2k textures, output 4k png and mp4 files complete with 4x anti-alias settings.  Depending on a person's computer, you might render at realtime, or 3 fps, or even slower.  But that's up to the individual to decide.

Hey, it's still a lot faster than Indigo, right?  Wink

BOTTOM LINE: During editing, realtime is very important.  During final render, actual speed is less critical.

By Rampa - 9 Years Ago
I did see a lot of texture customizing boxes in the UI in the second video. This is seems like something that a user could accomplish fairly easily. For the face, the eyebrows and other facial hair are probably most significant, and those are decals in the new CC.

If your shots are needing 4K textures to look good, your also going to need increased resolution in your meshes. Just turning on smoothing is probably not enough in this case. This will be especially true for things like hair.

I would be inclined to try it when I can afford to go 4K, and yeah, I would also use lower resolution proxies for animating.

From the first video, I counted 9 body types, and 7 head types. In the second video, it looked pretty clear that they were going away from pre-made textures (baked in eyebrows and shading). Although, I suspect the output to iClone may have the decals and diffuse baked into one.

Heidi and Mason were meant to "tide us over", being usable non-standard characters. I think we can expect to see there clothing, at least some of it, in the new CC.

Don't expect third party developer versions of these characters to somehow work in the CC. Those ones will stay as they are. Of course, those developers will be releasing CC clothing as soon as figure out how to.

With G5 there's no prohibition to uprezzing the texture maps to whatever size you want.  As long as you have the UVs you can make any size texture map you want.  You don't have to increase the resolution of the mesh.  It's just that doing good skins takes a lot of patience.  And I prefer to "Pay" RL or DAZ for quality maps as source material I can retouch in Photoshop.

By Rampa - 9 Years Ago
The textures and UV's will still be available from the texture modify panel. It's just the exports in the CC that top out at 2K. So yeah, uprezzing will be the way to do it.

As for tailoring cloth, we still can do it with opacity maps, CloneCloth style. This IS the replacement for CloneCloth. It's just gained some additional capabilities.

Certainly if advanced users want to work with higher resolution textures then they can do that. However using 4K textures by default would obviously impact iClone's performance somewhat dramatically for most users. Being realtime animation software is what stands iClone out from the crowd so we obviously don't want to lose that. Smile

It is an improvement quite incredible and a real game-changer for me personally, but it will be possible to eg reduce female breasts default size to something more realistic? And will they have a "rebound" natural because currently female avatars look like they are walking around with huge balloons filled with concrete on their chests. I know this is to appeal to a certain demographic but I would be able to make films with normal people looking statements in Wink Debenhams Discount Code
By Kelleytoons - 9 Years Ago
You can absolutely control breast size for both men and women and even control such characteristics as nipple and areola size and placement.

Breast movement can be controlled even with iClone 5 on characters NOT created in Character Creator (as well as those there).  Search the threads here to see how.
