Please give us OpenEXR as an available file format for image sequence rendering.

Thanks,
Guy.

Long  time Grabiller !

Well, just passing by, checking new 3DXchange version, waiting for new Q3 lipsync (and perahps locomotion ?) enhancement ; )

I am still quite curious about the project that you had discussed. Keep us updated.

I will for sure, if it leads to something interesting that is ; )

Hmm.. I just wanted to comment on the stupidity of my request in regard to the current state of the iClone renderer.

Let me explain: Having OpenEXR wouldn't change anything than using currently available output file formats.

I was expecting that, by using OpenEXR as an output file image format would allow us to manually solve the linear workflow issue. But biased by my use of offline renderers, that was assuming the final frame buffer has sufficient precision, ie is available as float or half-float resolution instead of 8 bits, which is probably currently the case with the final iClone renderer output frame buffer. So, saving a 8 bit resolution frame buffer in png or in half-float OpenEXR would have the same effect, trying to apply a linear -> sRGB conversion would result in color banding anyway..

Not that having OpenEXR as an output file format would be stupid in itself, but first, a higher output frame buffer resolution would be needed in order to get the benefit of it and that's surely why Reallusion developers, wisely, didn't exposed it in the first place. I suspect this is also the reason why we wont see any PBR shader or integrated linear workflow anytime soon, as changes in some buffers resolution must occur first.

So, forget about this request, I'll re-post it when the right time comes and if it is still needed..
