Is there a group of you out there who like just stirring up problems on this forum? I notice that all of you seem to have the same thing in common. Only a few posts which shows you haven't been here long enough to learn the program. You all seem to be so very knowledgeable about the software that you can find things you think are wrong and then say the software is no good. You can always get your money back and save your time if you are that dissatisfied with the product. Unless you are just trolling and trying to disrupt the forum. Have a nice day. Ken:) I hope this translates okay for your computer.:)

Contact Reallusion and they will let you cancel the program and take it off your computer. You sign a statement that you have removed it. Go to your accounts page and submit a ticket asking them and they will give you instructions. You have a 30 day time limit, I do believe. Have a nice day.:)

In his defense, there does seem to be a bug in which the timeline stops auto-advancing after loading several animations. I haven't sat down with it to figure out if it is the same number every time, or not.
As for the "unfinished software" comment, I'd say most software is "unfinished", or else they wouldn't keep making new versions!

reporting a bug, asking for support is not synonymous with trying to start a negative drama with a title like " iclone 6 is unfinished software"
Iclone is, was and will continue to be a work in progress, 3D itself is a work in progress, Just ask Nvidia and all their driver updates, some of which cripple our computers, like microsoft.
he could be as right as he wants to be, I'll show him wrong.

It just gets frustrating when every other day there is a post either here or in the General section that begins with saying the software is trash or no good. The poster follows the same pattern and then instead of giving a problem that could be solved, they proceed to talk trash about how bad Reallusion and the staff are. I happen to think that after using the products for a little over 6 months, they are a very good and thoughtful group. I enjoy learning new things from them and they always answer my problems, though they haven't told me how to get younger yet. This morning was a typical one and he will probably be back again in a few days with a similar line to stir things up. The real posters ask for assistance on their problems and usually get them rather quickly. Thanks for bearing with me while I vent. Ken:)

has it occurred to you that maybe you need more practice ? I've never seen an experienced animator load 400 motions back to back like you did. that might be a bad habit. There must be a great reason why you don't use blender, which has all the features you want and its free, to make your movie.

|
|
By planetstardragon - 11 Years Ago

well, My dear friend, I call you friend because I wouldn't waste my time talking to you otherwise.
As easy as iclone looks, it's a grand masters job to take the confusion out of what other softwares created in hyper expensive, or insanely complicated software.
It's a given that we will face bumpy roads when mixing super easy concepts with cutting edge, resource hogging, high tech sources.
We try to work positively like a community to report bugs and make intelligent / informed suggestions of what can make the software better because the company is small and willing to listen. This is a gift to be appreciated, most companies do NOT do that as intimately as Reallusion does.
The title of your post is a very wrong approach because many of us face and work around bugs on a daily basis, think we don't know there are bumps on the road ? we need your help, not your complaining.
so work with us, not against us. We've ALL faced the challenges, and you only insult us by creating posts like this when we are trying to work at making this better.
|

If you like to use it then stop calling it unfinished and trash. Ask a civil question and you will receive an answer. Criticize and you will be sent away. Now you have another chance for us to be nice. If you are taking 3 years for a perfect product, it will not come. Software companies including the free Blender, which is very good but difficult to learn, come out with updates to fix things that are not working correctly. This is a new program with some things in it which were not there before. It takes time for them to be fixed and or the many problems that were missed in beta testing to be fixed. These people are human so they do make a few mistakes along the way. though not as many as I do. Check the forums and don't try to make the program do more than it is capable of. There are some programs that cost much more that will make you a movie like the ones on television but this one will not do those things. Use it to do what it is capable of and learn how to use it. I do believe the program will do much more than you give it credit for. Ken:)

xalidfetah (1/27/2015) I am about 3 years waiting for a movie to make, I always thought likely to come next year a best iclone, but become worse and worse, this is simply injustice, I have all my project for 3 years
there's countless people here who have completed several good quality movies using iClone (various versions!). iClone might have it's flaws, but you should go back and have a look at the now very limited ability of the early versions and yet people still managed to produce good quality movies with those versions.
90% of good animated movie making comes down to the animator. The software can't do it for you. It is just a tool that the animator uses. Seems to me most critics of the software expect it to magically translate ideas from their heads into an animation sequence with very little actual knowledge or time spent creating the animation. If your movie is just going to be a string of standard motions joined together, then it's never going to be much good anyway. If you want the movie to look good, you're going to have to get your hands dirty and do a lot of key-framing/motion editing as well.

I can relate to the whole waiting bit- I have a major project in the years of pre-production hell. I was waiting for something to actually film it; is iClone 6 good enough, I think so.
But not every program will suit your full needs and you do have to cut corners. You're loading up motions by the boatload, why not split the shots into short segments? Do short clips. Unless you're going for long takes, but to be honest- they are incredibly difficult to do and I have yet to see one long take in iClone that has impressed me.
I split shots into each special clip and name it specifically for organization. If there is something in iClone that doesn't work, hide it.
But if you're not willing to cut corners and make changes- for any software or live action, then I'm afraid your project will not get off the ground.

All these years I've been mistaken in thinking it was a lack of skills when I couldn't do something. I must say... it is much easier to just blame the software.
Not sure how long one could stay employed with this attitude but it sure takes a big bite out of learning something. A lot less stress too.
Wow... I just realized this carries on to other applications..
It's zBrush's fault I can't model exactly what I see in my mind sometimes or get that perfect character.
It's 3D Max's fault I can't get that lighting right.
It's After Effects's fault I can't... well... hell... pretty much everything is After Effects fault based on this line of thinking.
Anyone starting a Blame RL support group? My coffee is cold... bet that is their effin fault too!;)

It does not seem to be a consistent bug. After re-starting iClone, and applying plenty of motions, the timeline is playing forward properly. I can uncheck the box in Preferences if I do not want it to. This can box can be unchecked and rechecked any time during a project.
So, a low priority bug, in my opinion.

There was an Indian movie ( MunnaBhai MBBS ) few years back in which Munna, a Local Don gets into a medical College through unfair means. He wanted to impress his father who had a big dream for his son being a doctor.
Since Munna couldn't understand a thing in the class, he started giving "JADDU KI CHHAPI" ( MAGIC HUG ) to every patient. He found a universal solution - HUG.
Very interesting film.

Don't worry about these things.
Sometimes people do not take a mature approach to problem-solving. It flows from their general approach to life. It reflects everywhere in their life and we can not really change that in a few reactionary posts.
Infact, you get noticed and appreciated because of such people. You get DIFFERENTIATED !!! The clients would prefer you because of your mature approach to problem-solving.

As I understand, he is trying to say ICLONE has 400 problems. He is NOT adding 400 motions.
It's not that they were not being added, it was that the timeline was not playing forward.
That's why I double checked it. The original gif showed the timeline indicator not moving, even though new motions were clearly added. It was sitting still towards the start of the timeline. I was able to re-create this bug twice, but have not managed again.
I also checked in the actual timeline that the motion was being added properly, and it was. So it was just randomly deciding to not play the timeline out to the end of the motion at times.
Quick fix is to save the file and restart, and open it again to continue working.
So no, he probably does need any help.

@rampa - Thanks for the serious investigation. @colour - True about English as a second language. But it is also common for someone to apologize if they discover they have phrased something poorly (accidental rudeness). Then the apology is graciously accepted, and everyone is friends. @xalidfetah - We have all reported bugs, issues, and enhancement requests. But there is no need to be insulting and calling it "trash." It's not perfect, but it's not garbage either. iC6 in particular is going through the typical shakedown period following a major release. Identifying and reporting problems is an important contribution to the community. @xalidfetah - SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT - Could you please NOT use multiple 7MB animated GIF files? They just play and play and play. I don't know a way to pause it if I want to study a portion of it. Please use actual "video" that we can start/stop/pause (YouTube or Vimeo, for example). @everyone... - We haven't had a total meltdown in this thread yet. We're doing okay.

iC6 "is" an "Unfinished Product". I'm glad I haven't got it.:ermm: not speaking English natively is no excuse for posting an identical post verbatum inc emoticons in 8 or more different new threads some under a different username then IM 'ing a person for pointing out that is annoying and not going to get an answer any quicker. The posts were removed and you possibly did not see the page full on new posts for today search I did. The user then went on to post more threads praising you of course and not by name but intent downing me for daring to suggest spamming a forum with multiple identical threads not a good practice. Not many forums do find that acceptable from what I have seen and even asking a question differently in more than one post has gotten far worse than what I replied with and left up unedited as I did not say anything untoward. Being the newbie welcoming hero is one thing (and I can certainly say from my own newbie experience this forum can be very intimidating, whats more I recall you Colour were one of those who I found intimidating!!) but newbie or not defending someone for having a hissy fit at someone repling to them about an annoying forum etiquete fail is not the same as just helping them as I often do too.

This Forum's been a Bear Pit even before I joined it from the now defunct CoolClones Forum. I have to disagree with you there Colour. Certainly since the release of iClone 6 the forum has seen its fair share of arguments and bad feeling, but to say it has always been a bear pit is wrong. I think you are letting the last month cloud your judgement to be honest.

The last month has been heavy on the fallouts but if you take out of the equation those posters who post the same issue over and over again in different threads and who are not looking for a solution, things aren't so bad given that iclone6 was always going to be controversial, with its new design and directX 11 support.

it's really not bad at all, even the nay sayers have been fun to talk to lately.
We are doing great, trust me , I've seen worse! (I have been far worse too haha! ) lol
in an unmoderated forum, I once took on a person who was not only looking for a fight, he was blatantly looking to destroy the forum.....all he did was literally post hundreds of posts so no one else could use the forum. I won that debate too and even became friends....it was so crazy, that I even tried to reason with the administrator of the forum to not ban him, actually, I got into a mega fight with the administrator, but unfortunately he was the 1 ban in the history of that forum. The guy actually started becoming nice friends but unfortunately he did too much damage for the administrator to forgive him by that time :crying:

Come to think of it, the so called rants lasted barely for 10-12 days. Primarily because many couldn't load ICLONE. Running a programme slow is one thing and not able to load one's long-waited favourite programme is another. Sometimes it can cause the real heart burn.
One fine evening ( after the release of the patch) I looked at the SILENT FORUM and I really laughed. So much for so called heart-burns !!! All vanished with a simple patch !
If guys wouldn't crib about ICLONE 6 now, when would they crib ? At the time of 6.5 ? With 6.0, ICLONE has entered a completely new orbit. Consider it as the version 1.0 for NEW ICLONE.
The whole thing was within the expected line. It was a Major release. The expectations were high. Few things slipped. It happens.
Good thing is that the community is expanding and ICLONE is getting ambitious.

I am beginning to think I am the only one here who is pleased with iclone6 (including the new interface which I love). I can confirm this bug about the motions it does stop advancing, but I have to say I am very pleased with the improvements to the product. I also have a friend who has switched to iclone after me gushing over it the last while. Its always been a neat product, but the pushing it into the you know this century having it make use of the graphics cards advances leaves me hoping they do more work on their internal render engine.
Still these forums kinda scare me I see everyone fighting but I am trying to delurk considering when i first registered on the forums and my first iclone purchase many moons ago now. I am now solely using iclone its my "everything" software (well except for you know the modelling and making animations part i need other software for that). I have been waiting for a real time engine that was able to do most of what I wanted it to do (including visual quality).

it's always hard to say, i understand what I know from having watched them add stuff to the software after we request it ....but I also understand they keep certain things hush as a protection from other companies that may be looking to steal the ideas. my argument - I want swoop to have fun, be expressive and not be confined to rules. our battles always have a happy ending. No one else stands a chance.
PS - I was ecstatic to see swoop defend big noses, I'm learning to make better rigs and meshes because of swoop, and he's learning to defend the things "HE" likes "BEYOND THE INDUSTRY STANDARD"....it was a beautiful moment for me.

I think you are letting the last month cloud your judgement to be honest. At the risk of looking like I'm sucking up to the moderator... I AGREE with Peter (RL). For the two years I've been actively involved, this forum has been one of the most cooperative and helpful forums I've seen. The veterans are very helpful to the newbies, patiently guiding them without being condescending about them being beginners. The past 6 weeks have been abnormal, with a huge spike in flames and rants. But it's settling down. When someone is chastised for being rude, it doesn't mean they don't have a right to express displeasure with iClone/Reallusion. It simply means we prefer it be done in a civilized manner. There will always be temporary bursts of emotion, but usually people here get along very well. It is even possible to passionately disagree with someone while still being civilized. And speaking for myself, that's what I look for; manners and civility. Even hobbyists can behave professionally. You can express displeasure and disappointment, and report bugs without resorting to insults and accusations as was becoming far too common around late December and early January.

Iclone 5 was faster to navigate - this emphasized by not being able to easily access the iclone 5 library. I was able to offset this by mimicking the iclone 5 layout with "All Panels" - the old content issue still throws me off though....so I get what he means

I think my iClone6 is broken. I am wondering if I should send in a notice to Reallusion or what. My copy has not crashed yet. It seems to be running smoothly and everything I try works fine as soon as I figure out how to use it. Is something wrong? I also have iClone5 on this computer and I did open it once yesterday by mistake but I haven't used it since I downloaded iClone6. Guess you can add me to the list of those who like iClone6. As for the forums (to change the topic a bit), I did notice a rise in negativity on the forum recently. I am just praying that it will go away soon. I liked it the way it was back in October or around there. Nice and helpful and friendly. Ken:):)

ahh nice, I haven't noticed that, but I also haven't copied my iclone 5 content over ...and that folder tree doesn't show with the shortcut workaround. I'm not ready to leave the iclone 5 / 3DX 5 pipeline, nor do I want to duplicate my library - so much stuff....including my customized stuff.
This is one of those things where I'm practicing what I'm preaching and being patient, but I've always had issues with the way the library is handled. But RL knows this already lol -halo over head-

I read somewhere how to make those custom folders but cannot remember where it was. I also wanted to make a folder for the Book of Ruth stuff but it seems one of my Avatars is the same as another only the color of the clothing is different and when I try to save them one of them is always replaced with the other even though I try to name them different. Ken:)

|
By planetstardragon - 11 Years Ago

thats something that changed from ic5 too - there use to be 3 buttons - overwrite, add and apply - in ic6 if you click on the character you only have add , and apply/replace.
You have to say no to replacing your character to be given the option to save as a new file. I found that confusing. I'm over it now though lol
but it was an unlearning of habits for sure.
|
|
By KenCoon - 11 Years Ago
|
I will have to try that when I get my computer back. Scrivener has it right now trying to upgrade it. I am locked out of a lot of stuff. I don't remember being given the option to save or replace. I remember pressing the + button at the bottom and it just replaced it. There were three of them. Two are okay and the third one was the one giving me the problem even though they have different names. Ken:) EDIT: Cancelled the update and took control. Figured out how to do the box. For some reason in the custom section of my Avatars there were the three Avatars that I wanted. The third one decided to join when I was not looking. I transferred them to a sub-folder names Avatars ( Unique huh?) and then made one for the scene. Problems came in here as I was using the Blue Skies collection and for some reason they didn't want to copy so I just took the scene from The World folder and used that part. Skies change all the time anyway. I will be rebuilding the complete thing when I get back to that part anyway so it won't matter that much. Now I can get back to finishing the Screenplay so I can get that finished. Ken:)

I seem to remember iClone 5 being a mere year late(er) than planned. But the result was and still is stunning.
I still look at version 5.5 as an incredible engine to use. Now, I don't know whether that's because of my fluency with it or it's creative ease of use but, without argument, 5.5 is an engineering piece of genius by absolution. Version 6.x Well, I'm an old hat at "Using what does work, and waiting for what doesn't later!" Some people here scream at broken hammers. I just pick up some glue. ;) Some say Reallusion are a herd of tangled prepubescent octopi... Others, that they're a family of miniature monastic bats from space. I'm not ready to leave the iclone 5 / 3DX 5 pipeline, nor do I want to duplicate my library - so much stuff....including my customized stuff. Actually, what you are looking at is a so-called directory junction to my iClone 5 props, which is a bit more than a mere shortcut and shows up in directory listings as a directory. The command to use is MKLINK: MKLINK [[/D] | [/H] | [/J]] Link Target /D Creates a directory symbolic link. Default is a file symbolic link. /H Creates a hard link instead of a symbolic link. /J Creates a Directory Junction. Link specifies the new symbolic link name. Target specifies the path (relative or absolute) that the new link refers to.
By using option /J you create a junction. For example, for the iClone 5 props I used the command: mklink /J "F:\Media\Reallusion\Template\iClone 6 Template\iClone Template\Props\iClone 5 Props" "F:\Media\Reallusion\Template\iClone 5 Template\iClone Template\Props"
There is one caveat I found, which I why I don't use this all the time: If you back up your content, directory junctions are treated as regular directories and everything is copied.

Anyways back to Iclone needing patches to fix bugs, I have just updated my copy of ZBRUSH and guess what ... It has bugs infact I have updated all my software from one time or another and thoes updates fix bugs.
No developer can know their software is going to work on every system and rely on bug reports from its users to fix it.
So do t whine time and time again, simply list the bugs and report them for fixing.
Simples..
When I say don't whine about it I mean don't change your name and carry on posting complaints It's a bit weired ...
