Hi Guys,
I have 3DXchange 5. I just looked here:
http://www.reallusion.com/iclone/3DXchange.htmlIt say:
We’ve been focusing a lot of our efforts on getting iClone 6 ready in time for launch. Unfortunately, due to the file format change in iClone 6, users will need to wait a bit for 3DXChange 6 in order to export their projects from iClone 6 to other software. Our goal is to deliver the best quality product for you, so we need a little more time to polish it up!
Further down it says:
With 3DXchange 5, users will still be able to import iClone 5 assets and any previous iClone generation items which include thousands of characters, motions, and props. This compatibility gives users a lot more design variety .
What does this mean?
We can still have 3Dxchange 5 installed, uninstall Iclone 5 and just use 3Dxchange 5 to bring in Iclone 5 assets to Iclone 6??
Can we still import 3D Meshes in OBJ etc from other applications?
Also further down it mentions export of Iclone 5 stuff only. I seem to think we need iclone 5 to be still installed?
I will try my best and answer some of your questions.
You do not need to uninstall iC5 I still have iC4 and Ic5 and now iC6 installed.
Lets say you have iC5 open and use the send to 3dxchange to alter something. When you go to export that something you will then have the option to export to iC5 or iC6.
At the moment this is not possible with iC6 open to send anything to 3dxchange 5 but hopefully not to far away will be 3dxchange 6 when this feature will be possible.
