european languages work fine. But, I have tried translating english text into Japanese, Korean, Chinese and all just recite the english with a accent of the language and do not translate. Am I missing something? Will those non-european languages only translate if native spelling and characters are used??

I think you may be misunderstanding the service. TTS On Demand is not a language translator. If you want the speech to be in Japanese, Korean or Chinese you will have to type in those languages. You can't type in English and get a translation into a different language.
