Hi guys: :)

I thought you might be interested on the progress I've made on my 44 gun Razee. I started with a hull that was made by Fredo6 and downloaded from 3d Warehouse.

After lashing her to a construction hulk for a couple of weeks, she's really starting to fill out. Considering the hull wasn't a historical reconstruction of a razee ( that is, a 64 gun ship of the line that was cut down to a 44 gunner by removing the upper gun deck, forecastle, and poop deck) she's turning out to be a pretty fair representation.

Looking aft from amidships showing the capstan, a couple of hatches and the wheel. I'm particularly fond of the wheel, it came out a lot better than I expected it might. :D

The bow. Still alot to do here.

The stern with redesigned gallery. (not completely finished) I also need to construct the rudder and the three large lanterns that sit atop the posts on the taffrail.

And finally the view from the Quarterdeck. She's come a long way but she's only about half done. ;) The rigging alone will be a mofo but I can't wait to see her completed and armed to the teeth. :P

I don't know that I'll ever use her for anything. I haven't found a way to make reallusion water appear like a convincing ocean, but I might do some deck shots on her.

Looking pretty cool. I've seen posts of people working on more realistic water. Maybe by the time you finish your ship they might finish their water... or you could put wheels on it and drive down main street.

Here in Wichita we have a myth about a guy, Windwagon Smith, who retired as a ship Captain and traveled Kansas in a covered wagon with a sail on it. So adding wheels to a ship is not unheard of here. :P (Maybe I could hire it out as a parade float! :w00t: )

Very, very nice.

Thank you for sharing the pictures.

I built my replacement cannon today. The one on the left is a 3d warehouse download and came in at 40,000 polys, the one on the right is my bloody little knock-off that only came in at 4500. :P I was hoping for a flat 4000 but close enough. Considering there are 44 of these ball spitters on the ship, it's an enormous savings. As you can see I had to drop some of the hardware detail but I may add it in as the frigate model progresses and it allows me to.

I'm seeing this project more as model building (like my hot rod and motorcycle were) than as an actual prop. The overall poly count will probably make it so. ;)

I would imagine a lot of the hardware could be accomplished via the texture and bump maps.

Looking good, though.  Looking good. :)

What level are you at, Peter, in creating a realistic Sea Ocean layer?

None of the tinkering I've done gets even close to the effect you created by accident. :w00t: I'm afraid my skills are quite inadequate to the task and I bow to your expertise. That is an awesome effect!!
