Dear all,

The competition has come to an end. Thank you for all of your creative and interesting submissions! Since the submission number is huge, we'll need some time to discuss about the winners. The winner announcement might be released in the early May. Please stay tuned on this forum.

Besides, we would really like to have more intersting competition like this one for you to share your talent. Therefore, please leave your comment below and tell us what competition subjects you think that we can have in the future! We might hold more interesting competitions based on your suggestions! Smile

Hi Bruce,

You've not had a good old fashion animation / film making comp for some time. I think the dancing one was the last?

You generally do a comp to coincide with the release of a new pack, Halloween, War, Dance etc. Why not just have a animation short comp.

Produce the best animation you can in under 5 minutes. No limits and lets see what this program can really do, no shackles, no restrictions, no set themes and let the quality flow w00t

Now that would be great Smile

But just my thoughts BigGrin

1. How about spoofing/making a commercial product (30 seconds)
2. Challenge limited to 50% 3D block primitive shapes
3. Provide some free music/sound effect and one prop and see what happens
4. Black and white silent (except for background sounds)
5. Black and white and one color. Color is less then 20% of any scene or the entire video
6. Tabloid News broadcast
7. Team Activity. Toonmaker, Mr Pose, G5, Animal. Use at least 4 different human or non-human Reallusion characters working as a team to accomplish a task.
8. Rube Goldberg machine (Rubellusion Icloneberg Machinima)). A test in animation skills. Invent a chain reaction machine to perform a simple task in complicated steps using all iclone props and avatars.

How about a commercial or advertising video. You give us a list of things that must be in the advertisement. The winner's clip will be the one with the highest quality of images, sound and substance and actually gets used in a real advertising way by Reallusion. The winner gets a free copy of iClone 6 when it comes out or 2% of sales generated by the ad.

here's a few ideas - some of them can be cta or iclone - would be fun to have contests where iclone users, can compete vs cta2 users.

Motion design contest - using mocap or keyframe.

Zazzle T-Shirt Design contest ( or a skateboard design contest would be even cooler!! ) - winner gets the item they design from zazzle!!

Artistic Stills contest -

Album Cover Design Contest

copycat contest - make a pre-viz version of famous movie clip.

abstract art contest -

Voice Over Synch contest - reallusion selects a public domain clip from Libry Vox - and contestants have to make an animation for it. - can be iclone or cta

Iclone Mod Contest - Who can transform Chuck into something entirely different!!

martial arts contest - animated Kung Fu fight scenes competition - can be iclone or cta - have to give the stick man fights their respect!

monster truck contest - using the physics and custom made fancy trucks - who can make the coolest monster truck tricks footage. - ie - leap over 15 cars, finish a race course filled with bumps and jumps...

Gwynn Selfie Contest - best, most elegant / heartwarming render of Gwynn.

Sports Action contest - best sports still and or footage!

Monty Python Contest - using only images on planes in iclone to make a video.

slapstick contest - best comedy skit!! this contest can be either iclone or cta

Paranormal Contest - where contestants use iclone along with a video editor to make convincing ufo or paranormal videos!! w00t ( would be my personal favorite! )

Logo design contest!! - video logos

Trailer Contest!!

meme contest!!

I think the problem most people have with competitions is a lack of time therefore I always think that needs to be borne in mind.

My suggestions

a) Animation based on the lyrics of a song (but not using the song itself for obvious copyright reasons)

b) Animation based on supplied audio sample/extract (ie like 11secondclub - http://www.11secondclub.com) .

The Forum already has a "film-making comp", Colin Wink - The Annual Pinhead Community Projects, which are predominately iClone, these days.

Some of the best iClone Films ever made have been submitted, over the years.

Esteemed iClone Animators such as Gabe, Big Boss, Mark, Peter Martin, Wolf.............Have contributed, with new Talent every year. Smile

I'm not a Pinhead Annual Community Projects Committee Member - Just a Promoter, together with other dedicated Pinhead Fans.

That being-said, I'd like to see the Projects reaching-out to a wider Community in the German & French Forums, rather that just the English. Maybe Reallusion could help, in that respect?

Reallusion have very generously donated some great prizes, over the years. Smile

Sorry Colour, but I disagree!

If that was the case then it would be part of Reallusion's marketing campaigns. In the banner on the forum, on their website and even advertised on the social networking avenues. Pinhead is not!

Also Pinhead is not the only competition that Reallusion supports, there's the Passion competition, the Machinima Expo, the 48 hours, to name but a few.

I meant a true "Reallusion" competition by them, judged by them with prizes specific to the Reallusion company.

How about an "iClone Image of the Month" contest? Each month you pick the best of a host of submissions (don't let people see the submissions, only the winning image). The prize would be $50 DA points. Don't let anyone win more than three in a row. You can also give them monthly themes to explore, like "Loneliness", "Dystopias", "Horror", "Sci-Fi", "The Human Experience", "Nature", etc.

Public Service announcement created with iClone. Winner should get $500 DA points. You may also be able to find a sponsor for the PSA in a governmental or private organization that would put their logo on it or help promote/distribute it. You could solicit such organizations as well and see if they want to have a PSA done on a particular topic and provide this as part of the challenge and have them be the final judge.

Recreate a scene (not to exceed 3 minutes) from a famous movie in the Public Domain. They can use the original sound track to help build the animation. Winner should get $500 DA points.

I will think of some more...

Whatever they do, I just hope winners will not be determined by Facebook voting (as in the past), where like you get like all your friends voting on your entry. I wouldn't be interested in that.
By Postfrosch - 10 Years Ago
I am also against vote on Facebook.
All RL-users who are not logged into Facebook,
are with this negotiation mode from the outset for offside.
I did not even login before with Facebook.

I thought Facebook likes is only for Contests, but not for Competitions.

It might be fun to have participants create a 60-90 second RL product commercial - RL can name the product they want promoted; or let the participants select any RL product/content to base the commercial on. RL could award either a single winner, or a winner per product or run a series of competitions where a different product is the basis of the project several times a year.

The winners could receive DA points or perhaps a discount coupon to apply to any RL product/content purchase.

RL could then use the winning commercials in any ad campaign......

A win/win for both the sponsor (RL) & the participants....

Face Book is a known source of SPAM. Although they deny it.

............And - It's a devil of a job to remove your Membership.

Face book has more-or-less killed-off Video Friends Forum which had a huge social following.

Apart from the above - Face book has more-or-less had it's day, since many are now realising that it's a time-waster - Full of banalities  & Trolls. Some of whom have been Prosecuted in the UK (& imprisoned), for Harassment.

Trailer for a fictional film

Always liked this one.

I've already made 3 movies worth of faux 'grindhouse' trailers using Iclone, moviestorm and 'the movies' and they've been the most fun projects I've worked on to date.

Advert for a fictional product

Last year's Pinhead mini-project was for a fictitious commercial, and we had a lot of fun with that.

How about a short animation to learn about a genius whose idea, creations and discoveries have shaped our world e.g Isaac Newton, Leonardo da Vinci,Archimedes of Syracuse, Michael Faraday
By Walt_R - 10 Years Ago
How about creating a preview or trailer for a Public Domain movie? On the IMDb website there are 246 titles to choose from so there are plenty of choices.
Most trailers are 2 ½ minutes long, so keep the videos at 3 minutes maximum. Reallusion can use all the videos created for marketing purposes because of no copyright violations.

The rules:
•The video should be created with Reallusion products.
•No copyright infringement: music, video, or images. (With using Public Domain movies this should not be a problem)
•Entrants may submit up to three (3) videos for award consideration.

Grading can be on:
•How entertaining video is (30%)
•Design Quality (35%)
•Creativity (35%)

Perhaps Reallusion will consider this in the not too distant future, and we can make great trailers to bad movies.

Great Idea BigGrin , I like it, indeed, a good proposal.
..... only one problem. Unfortunately most people don´t want to animate Doze
By planetstardragon - 10 Years Ago
for the public domain idea, you'd probably want to post those on vimeo or daily motion. Ironically enough, youtube really doesn't respect copyright law, they just don't want to get sued again and don't care if they make bad money in the process. As a result, many of the content id places, especially universal and the orchard are indulging in copyfraud and making blatant claims on public domain movies and music. Youtube not only allows them to do so, but it protects them.
