Hi ,
I'm in love with the Avatartoolkit Builder :) Thank you RL
Therefore I have start a new WIP to create new assets for the AVT Controller

I start with the Modelling
For the AVTK2 I need to create seperatly controllable Bodyparts

Btw That is for me very easy to do with 3D Coat Layer-system .I can sculpt on different Layer for best fitting.
at the end My Charcter tool kit will be customizable like Toonmaker

First impressions

Continuation follows....:)

We have problems with sliding of the motion of the actors. We did our best to regulate the walking but they always slides a bit. Can you help me in adjusting the walking in a way to minimize the sliding? I suspect it is something very simple.

Vidi, I think what you are doing with Avatar Builder toolkit is marvelous, I can't wait till mine arrives next week, so I can start my content creations. and is it possible to use this kit on entire character bodies or no and 3D Coat, Topogun or Wrap? Which do you consider the most productive topology tool?;):hehe: Anyway, very inspiring work.:D:cool::w00t:

Excellent work Vidi, your character is top notch.

Vidi, I think what you are doing with Avatar Builder toolkit is marvelous

Oh yeah, I like this tool very much. :)

is it possible to use this kit on entire character bodies

with the toolkit you can build a Remote controller, for animated attached accessories, e.g. on the Toon Avatas Series, but your own too

Many Thanks pete !!! :)

I saw in another thread a cute Egg .:Wow:

I also wanted create such funny egg, and therefore my Eggberth is now born :D

That Character was a little bit tricky, because 3D xchange map only bones from the Head as Jaw and Eyes, . But this character Body and Head ist the same, but thanks Avatartoolkit and use facial morphs, I have solve it .

First testing

By bluemidget666 - 12 Years Ago
Very cool Vidi .. Nice work.
By vidi - 12 Years Ago
Thank you blue .
I like your Characters too . I think we love the same Character style :)
By Alley - 12 Years Ago
Nice Vidi...I like that character type also and we've seen a few lately, but I can't figure out how to do it. :ermm:
By vidi - 12 Years Ago
Hello Alley I saw what you do with toon maker 2. I love it and also very nice presented !

The next time, I make WIP images again. I have forgot it in this case.

By vidi - 11 Years Ago
As promised, I make a WIP to my new character a Toon Cat. :)

I have startet sculpting with 3D coat and have make a retopo from the Sculpt

In Hexagon I have finetuning the retopomesh and insert a Mouthhole
In UV Layout, a great UV mapper, I have create my UV map

Handpainting my texture and backing AO in 3D coat

My trick for better handle insert Teeth and Tongue properly.
I skin temporarily only one Jawbone and I open the Mouth with this bone.

Now the rigging

For that I create Face groups . The advantage, every bone get and represented its own Mesh area .
That means, DAZ will automatically set all Bones in the mesh properly and minimize distortions after binding.
Also I can make these Face Groups invisible , for better handle my weight painting.

btw The DAZ weightbrush is outstanding. I love weight painting with this.
I have testet in Carrara, Cheetah. Shade,Maya LT and in Modo, but I had not such a good behavior like as the DAZ Brush. Also the visual feedback is so much better.

Also a nice feature in DAZ Studio, I can not only create morph controller also I can create ERC for every property

Therfore I have create a Bone IK Controller for the Cat tail for easy handling and posing

Now its time for rigging the Face and create some Facial Morphs.
For the eyes I will use the Puppet Controller again.

Unfortunately, I have to go to work but :crying:
to be continued....

bye for now !

Cool characters vidi. We both use 3dcoat for sculpting. :D
What's the advantage of the Avatar toolkit to Iclones default character controllers?
I see its a separate purchase for the Avatar toolkit.
By prabhatM - 11 Years Ago
@Vidi

Very nice.

This reminds me a bit of my work that I used to do with Playmation / Animation Master ( www.hash.com) way back in 1988-89. I had a series about a CAT Couple. It was a slapstick comedy. Looking at your work, I am tempted to revive it with a new look !
By bluemidget666 - 11 Years Ago

More possibility, You can create a controller for e.g for modular Characters or maybe a monster with 10 eyes.
Also you can make a Panel with a custom expression Template. You can attach accessories on any Character or a invisible dummy bone and control all Items with a fingertip.

Also great, you create a controller for round eyes and after that, you can scale and skew it without loss the pivot rotation . I have not found a solution outside iClone for this . Look at Ella above She has Lenticular Eyes but it rotate like round eyes .
even rotate stretched Eyes would so possible.:)

Sounds interesting !. Animation Master looks like a little bit outdated to me , but seems it is still great and popular.

I love you work Vidi ....keeps going from strength to strength.

ditto @blue. I admire her work also much ! very inspired

Thank you all for your nice Feedback ! :)

Thanks vidi. I see now that avatar toolkit enables iclone to access other prop/accessory parameters like morphs, embedded bones, animatable values and create non-linear controllers for them. Wish this was built in Iclone so we don't have to resort to importing non human props to access morphs. :D

It depends a lot on the look you are after.

Vidi makes very beautiful "modular" toon characters. The modularity can be really great, as she mentioned. But there are also custom morph options for the traditional avatar types as well. You can even do full body morphs. You don't get the really cool control gizmo though. Have a look here.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wb18gMn3G9A

Vidi, your tomcat is as wonderful as all your other toon characters. :)
By vidi - 11 Years Ago

yes, all my hope is now in 3d xchange 6.
I have 2 character in queue , for that I have make some different conforming dresses, but it is not possible to mix this Outfits in iClone . I can only import the whole ready dressed Character . But that sounds interesting to me, and I will wait with the release of my Characters.

...we still haven’t completely implemented the morph-based G6 standard. As a result, you may find that the hair will still need to be added as an accessory, and the characters will lack the morph tuning UI for both the body and face.

But don’t lose hope! As our G6 morph-based outfit system is our current #1 priority for the upcoming free 6.1 patch, which is soon to be released in early 2015. In addition, we’re also working on a new 3DX pipeline to assist developers in designing their own derivative G6 character assets....

Maybe we could swap rigged dresses and accessories in 3Dexchange or iClone then ? :w00t:

Also I would like make morphable props. I have created a Umbrella with open and close morphs, but it is to awkward to handle this with puppeteer panel . Also difficult attach this "Nonhuman Umbrella" on the Hand of a Avatar.

By hattori kun - 11 Years Ago
Thanks rampa. Haven't seen that one. Some good tips there.

With regards to the workaround I mentioned regarding accessing morph values in props, etc this video shows it

Without avatar toolkit we have no direct way to access morphs in props, accessories in Iclone unless we do that workaround, or buy the avatar toolkit.
Hopefully 3dx 6 brings in more functionality. The price looks to be higher for 3dx 6.
By vidi - 11 Years Ago
Also Avatar Toolkit is not the best solution in this case .
We should have such slider, like as in the Facial expression Editor and the possibility to import morph animations. All these without dummy bones. ... I hope ... :hehe:
By Bellatrix - 11 Years Ago
Nice illustration of your rigging process vidi...

I hope too. Unlimited custom morphs too. Ability to set custom muscle groups for Puppeteering too. Motion Puppet for faces and props.

I hope the highlighted bit translates to a bone-is-optional morph system more efficient and natively integrated than AvatarToolkit.

From 3DX6 version comparison.... 3Dxchange 6 seems to have extra capabilities...

Export 3D Models
- OBJ (static object, replace mesh, paint & sculpt, create face morph data)

Hm.......wondering wondering...

RL was being specific and correct.

The last two items...

Paint & Sculpt - not possible in 3DX5.
Create Face Morph Data - not possible in 3DX5.

Moving imported bones to move pre-assigned muscle group is not the same as "creating face morph data"...it is more like reassigning imported face morph data. And taking into context fresh info in this forum...Peter RL said a few days ago...

"When the G6 characters are updated you will have a system similar to that used in Daz Studio where you will be able use morphs to create customized versions. To do this will really only require iClone 6 and 3DXchange 6"

I totally look forward to what this new 3DX6 "Create Face Morph Data" feature has to bring.

As to "Paint & Sculpt"... well I'll be truly amazed if there will be a 3D paint mode...no matter how basic. Some kind of baby Substance painting will totally excite people... AND perhaps... actual "sculpt" brush? Having Soft Select Deformation ability will surely be a huge step forward for iClone.
By vidi - 11 Years Ago
I believe you misinterpreted :D

Export 3D Models

seen in the context
- OBJ (static object, replace mesh, paint & sculpt, create face morph data)

By Bellatrix - 11 Years Ago
I just looked at the page again and saw "iClone 6 users". So you're probably right.

Would be nice to have a deform brush or cage though. Working between iClone-3DX is SO fiddly. Endless clicking in and out for tiny little edits. That's why like you too I am still on the hunt for the all-in-one modeling animation rendering suite.
By vidi - 11 Years Ago
After play some time with modo , now back to my cat and my another tools. That makes more fun ! :D

Jaw, Tongue and Ears have now Bones, too . So the main Rig is done....

next comes the blend shapes and Puppet Eyes ...

No one does cute quite like you Vidi - a wonderful looking character. I often think of buying your work but struggle to fit them into storylines about zombies, mad scientists and the like!
By vidi - 11 Years Ago
Thank you toonarama :) for you kind coment

to fit them into storylines about zombies, mad scientists and the like!
Maybe I should change my Theme but my life is a pink cotton candy and I'm a child for ever . Therefore I like more to create cute stuff LOL

But :w00t:  I just remembered,  I have also make recently a Zeppelin ,I think  it looks not quite as sweet ? .:D

By toonarama - 11 Years Ago
That's a really nice "steampunk" zeppelin - you should put it on the marketplace!
By vidi - 11 Years Ago
You are right,  but I'm always so lazy with upload . I should realy change that   *gg
I like more to create , than spend time with advertising.
By CaseClosed - 11 Years Ago
Yea, that Zeppelin is really cool. Maybe start your own thread titled "Vidi's Sweet Objects in the Marketplace" or something better?

Then every time you upload something new, announce it on that thread and any other thread that's appropriate.
By urbanlamb - 11 Years Ago
When i saw the zeppelin I thought "someone can take an eye out with that be careful where you aim it" :)

You are right,  but I'm always so lazy with upload . I should realy change that   *gg

I have started working on props again as a break from characters I find I need to switch things up  a bit for variety since really I am just making what I think is "fun" to make.   I think vidi and I are clones sometimes. I make stuff for fun people say "you should sell it" I never do .. LOL

Superb work, Vidi.

The texturing of the Zeppelin is masterful - and thanks for showing the mesh.

Good Idea,   Case Closed  ! :)

Yeah I think also often I'm the german version of urbanlamb and you visa versa LOL  :D

The texturing of the Zeppelin is masterful
Thank you :) it was painted in 3D coat.

By CaseClosed - 11 Years Ago
You have the quality aspect nailed. To succeed in this marketplace you need quantity as well. It's quality X quantity.

My suggestion is once you create a work of art model/object/character, then upload it immediately. Give it a snazzy but simple description and leave it. Don't monitor it, don't worry about whether it will be successful. Just upload the next one, and all the rest as you create them.

Build it and the customers will come. Maintain that level of quality with your sweet style and keep at it. Go for it :D
By pinguintje - 11 Years Ago
a little fairy tale..........

In a wonderful country, called vidigermany lives a hard working girl.
Her life is a pink cotton candy. She is a child forever and creates beautiful stuff.
But she is always lazy with her uploads.
Fortunately there is a RLforum with a lot of fans who are interested in her creations.
Shopping carts full of stuff leave her store now.
And everybody is happy.
All well that ends well.:):):)

vidi, we look forward to your panda and zeppelin in the store.

Best Regards,
Arie
