Dear Jarron,
Thanks for your reply.
In CrazyTalk Animator each character must have the correct front or side pose applied. If it is Front Image then you must switch to the Front Pose, if it is a Side Image then you must switch to the Side Pose
Please refer to CrazyTalk Animator online help as below to know how to adjust, first you may check your character is front or side post then adjust it
http://www.reallusion.com/crazytalk/Animator/help/animator/pro/03_Actor/Customing_Your_Actor_With_Actor_Composer/Creating_Character_for_Front_and_Side_Motions.htm
Further Body Adjustments
http://www.reallusion.com/crazytalk/animator/help/animator/pro/03_Actor/Customing_Your_Actor_With_Actor_Composer/Further_Adjustment_for_the_Body.htm
Since your character is in Side Pose you should only apply Side motions. In your case you can adjust the left foot using the Body Key Editor (Body tab).
Feel free to let us know if you have any questions.

NOTE: I went to the hassle of creating a special version of a video I created just to show support the problem of the painful foot twist I was experiencing with CTA Pro:
http://youtu.be/Pvr-ERzDF_U
TO SUPPORT:
Okay, I discovered a workable solution to this painful twist of the left-foot of a character when switching from a front to a side puppet motion:
The problem was I was extending the front of the puppet clip TOO LONG and that made for a painfully long twist of the left foot before it would snap into the new position.
The solution is to make that transition as short as possible by only extending the front of the puppet clip as little as possible. Then the foot transitions much more quickly BUT NOT INSTANTLY! It happens so fast that I barely notice the painful foot twist. That's a workable solution for now, but I hope you will address and fix this problem in CTA Pro 2 because it can be very annoying.
Thanks

TO SUPPORT:
MY CHIEF CONCERN is how this problem will translate to a character I create of myself from photos. It seems to me I am going to have real problems with this when I reach that point, no?
My guess is that I must have at least two of me. One in a front pose and one in a side pose. Whenever I want to make myself do any side pose movements I switch to the side pose 'me' that was kept invisible.
After all, the front pose me is going to be mostly for talking and singing. The side pose will be for silly actions that usually will not require much talk

Nice for them to tell me what I had to figure out on my own AFTER I figure it out, right?
FROM SUPPORT:
Dear Jarron,
Thanks for your feedback.
Of course you can shorten the transition to make the effect less visible or apply a front and a side character. But you can also simply use the Body Key Editor and rotate the left foot to the correct position.
As I mentioned previously, I will pass on your feedback so thank you for sharing your views.
Please do contact us again if you have further questions.

MY RESPONSE:
Well, the thing is the left foot SHOULD rotate at the angle a left foot would rotate in such a situation. It should not bend up in a ridiculous painful UNNATURAL position then snap the way it does. This is something that should be fixed and I sincerely hope you will fix the problem as I am looking forward to purchasing CTA Pro 2 and having these problems solved.
What CTA Pro needs is when you create ANY character from photos you create a front and side pose at the time of creation so that whenever your character switches to a side pose all the sprite parts are already in place for the switch and it becomes more natural looking. I'm not ready for that phase of animation yet, but I am getting close, very close.

wizaerd (9/17/2013) There are multiple threads with multiple suggestions already... Well, that does not necessarily mean the suggestions have reached the core support team. I'm talking about going directly to the source to make your suggestions:
http://www.reallusion.com/CustomerSupport/UserEx/QForm.aspx
You blindly assume that suggestions made in this forum automatically are picked up by the core support team. I don't make such blind assumptions.
IF YOU WANT TO MAKE CERTAIN YOUR SUGGESTIONS ARE CONSIDERED I SUGGEST YOU GO TO THE SOURCE WITH LINKS TO THOSE TOPIC THREADS AND GIVE THEM THE LINKS.
I'm learning more and more that to blindly trust often leads to incredible disappointment. Just yesterday...well...I won't get into that....

Uhhh no, I don't "blindly" assume anything. But if you read those threads, you'll see responses from RL that they're read them and submitted them tot he development team.

What I have seen is that as I ask questions here and also send them to the support team I often get supplemental solutions. It's happened enough for me to know it's best to ask here...

Hi, look at this thread: https://forum.reallusion.com/Topic146699-251-1.aspx
I think RL allready started to listen!
Furthermore, Peter (RL) is allways around. He will help you and, furthermore, he is also passing wishes to the team :D
Sometimes some people got a little bit upset, but everytime this happened to be, RL did listen and solved the problems. RL isn't Microsoft :hehe:

Well, every time I think of the concept of CTA 2 soon to come it makes me excited to think of the improvements.
I sure am looking forward to the new CTA Pro 2 :D
UPDATE:
I'm embarrassed. I didn't bother to look at the top of this forum to see the topic thread that is pinned. Thanks for that link

Ya know, my knowledge of this program is very limited.
What is exciting is to view that other thread about the up and coming CTA 2 and see YOUR tutor suggestions!
Whoah! Some are too technical for me to understand, but wow! If the new CTA 2 is founded on the suggestions of you tutors man we are looking at a TOTALLY AWESOME UPGRADE!! :D
I think I now understand why
From a "tutor's" perspective, your suggestions are based on all the help you have given people in these forums. You know the main problems people are having with the programs practically like the back of your proverbial hands. Who better to give awesome suggestions for the up and coming CTA Pro 2?
Cool, guys, very cool!!

Hi guys
Here are a few suggestions (sorry if they have been mentioned already - haven't read all the responses!)
1 - make transform have a smooth start and smooth ending function (for cars, runs, etc) rather than having to generate one yourself or manipulate motion clips
2 - have options for loopable backgrounds (like old cartoons - so the backdrop can easily loop when characters are running or cars are driving
3 - allow a mixture of straight line or curved transforms on an object/character - rather than one set motion which means all motions are curved OR straight. This has hindered me a lot when creating a bouncing ball effect or the like
4 - iprops / animations - allow the user to choose when the animation starts on these effects. At the minute, it loops from frame one so you have to plan/adapt your whole scene to sync these effects when they occur on the timeline
5 - individual limb flips - allow some parts of a character to be flipped individually - not just the whole body
6 - individual limb z depth - allow this to be manipulated to allow characters to interact closely (hugging, kissing, undressing...stop there. That was a joke... I can't imagine CTA making into THAT kind of market.)
7 - make sure all CTA1 store/content purchases are compatible (characters, props, bgs, facial acting, motions) - I have spent a BOMB on these and if they are all obsolete (or repacked) I would stay with CTA 1. I understand it is a new product, but PLEASE don't go all Playstation on us to squeeze more $. I am happy to buy all of the new content, but have hated duplicating content from previous versions of CTA or CT in the past.
8 - include an export video option which allows alpha-channel control/transparency without the need for POP
9 - music/dialogue - allow this to be manipulated better (fades, reverb, delay) - I know this might make the product more $ but the basic music functions shouldn't be too expensive these days
10 - stop eyes / nose / mouth automatically being further forward on the z-depth - it makes the faces look strange when off-centre and causes issues. Orthographic mode is great, but I never use perspective as the faces look terrible when characters are at the side of the screen which is a shame, as z depth props etc look superb when zooming etc. I can't think of a reason why facial features would need to be closer to the camera, other than to help the effect of a face turning slightly.
11 - allow an inbuilt pose changer (eg the character has a set-up for side profile of different sprites to easily change between forward, side and back). The Cartoon Solutions packs are great - but if these sprites could be rigged in one MASTER character, the transitions would be easy and would save aligning three characters and turning them off/on to switch between these poses.
Other than that - nothing else I can think of.
I love the product (especially as it is the first version) - it took me ages to get to grips with many of the finer details, but the forum is superb and your help has always been quick and spot on!
Keep it up and I'll be back for CTA 2 :-)
