Stupid question I'm sure but how would I go about keeping a motion stationary that by default is not? For example I have a motion that runs up the screen I would like that motion running in place instead.

It's difficult to say for sure, without knowing the details, but I'll give it a try anyway.  ;)

I'm picturing a spider crawling up a wall, but you want to have your spider "walk" without actually moving up the wall...

  • Do the normal motion at a key frame
  • At the end of the motion, move the item back to the starting point, which automatically creates a key frame
  • Then iClone will "connect" the two key frames, in this case moving the item a distance of "zero"

It MIGHT work.

Are you trying to have an avatar walk on a treadmill?  (Walk, but don't actually go anywhere.)  Hmm... I'd have to play with that to see what works.

Do your Motion. Go to the START, which is where I assume the motion begins; RIGHT Click on the Motion on the timeline (anywhere you want the Motion to Freeze in Place) and select "RESET Pivot". They won't move, but will have motion.

If it's a combination of Motions...Collect them, save them on export, then import and do the above to the collected motion.

Wow that was quick, thanks guys I'll try both methods.

If you want to place bets, I'll put my money on Cricky's method.  It sounds more official (and he's pretty good at this stuff.)

Please let us know what works, and good luck.

That is indeed what's in the manual.
