Windows 8 installation error

I tried to install Crazy Talk 7.11 Pro on my Windows 8 x64 (Spanish) and I recieved that message:

Crazy Talk 7.11 Pro does not support Virtual Machine installation

Of course, I am installing it on a "real" machine and not on a Virtual one.

Please check if you have HyperV on your Windows 8 computer. This is known to cause this false error message within Windows 8. You may have HyperV active as part of the Windows Phone 8 SDK for example.

If you do have HyperV running, please do the following to resolve the issue until a permanent resolution is found.

1. Go Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows Features On or Off
2. Disable HyperV
3. Install CrazyTalk 7
4. Repeat steps 1 & 2 to enable HyperV again.

This should resolve the installation problem.

Hye,

I had the same issue upon trying to install CT7 on a parallels8 windows7 VM.

I unchecked hyperV in the parallels 8 prefpane, without avail.
In the windows 7 control panel (toggle windows features on & off) I couldn't find hyperV in the list.

I finally tried to disable hyperV through an elevated command prompt, as suggested on other forums :

bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off

I rebooted, and lanched CT7 installer again, but I'm still getting the error msg CT can't be installed on VM...

As I'm running out of ideas, I'd really appreciate a fix or a workaround, 'cause I'd really like to give CT a spin !

The HyperV references and suggestions on this forum are for those users who are experiencing problems installing onto Windows PC's with Windows 8. It is not for Mac users.

So if I understand your issue correctly, you are trying to install the Windows version of CrazyTalk 7 onto a Mac computer using Parallels?

Maybe I'm missing something here but why would you not just use the native Mac version of CrazyTalk 7?

I'm aware of the new native mac version of course, but on the one hand, skimming thru the forum shows that it has a few issues on its own, so I hesitate testing it out ; on the other hand a windows version currently does better suit my workflow, as I have different apps already operating in parallels.

If I recall correctly, I did see somewhere in the forums that reallusion apps did support virtualization. So is there a way to install them properly on a VM?

Hi..

CrazyTalk 7 was our first product to have both a Windows and Mac version and for this reason the Windows CT7 does not support Virtual machine software like CT6. If you wish to use the Windows version we advise using Bootcamp instead.

As to issues with the Mac version, I don't think you need to be concerned. I have CT7 running on a Mac Mini perfectly with no issues whatsoever. The important point is that your OS meets the minimum requirements. If it does you should be good to go.

ok, so if I understand well, it's not a mere question of parallels not being able to directly access the mac's graphics card, but a conscious limitation from AL's developers?

No I wouldn't say it's a conscious limitation.

Making a product compatible with virtual machine software such as Parallels requires some considerable effort due to graphic card issues. In the past we have been able to do this with some products to allow Mac users to be able to use our software because a Mac version was not available. However doing this now when you already have a native Mac version would be rather a waste of time and resources.
