I was sent this url today and thought it might be worth sharing.
Models are downloaded as FBX, appear to be boned but I'm not that conversant with that type of thing.
"3D Character Creation
Create, customize, and download your very own rigged 3D characters from a catalog of over 100 body types, outfits, hairstyles, and physical attributes in a few simple steps. "

"Project Pinocchio leverages Autodesk®’s powerful 3D design and animation tools to provide you with a web-based laboratory where you can create fully-rigged custom 3D characters. Design a creation of your own or modify existing stock characters using a variety of pre-defined body types, facial features, and clothing styles for inclusion in 3D games, animations, and scenes."

I wonder if that's based on the Evolver technology that Autodesk bought. RL had a deal with Evolver to allowing a user to create iClone avatars.

It certainly has the same look and functionality. I'm currently waiting for it to publish the avatar I just created.

So I downloaded it. Came as an an FBX. Put it into 3DX, hit convert to convert to non-standard. It matches the Maya HumanIK preset, so rigging was automatic. Some morphs loaded with it, but not visemes. Needs some more exploring, but it makes for quick and easy low poly avatars.

Under the options menu when downloading the avatar you can select resolution, morphs (visemes included!) or bones for face, and a few other things.

Oh, and yes, you will recognise the "free Evolver girl" when you start the character creator.

when you download it, click on options - then bone map face, you can create your own visemes from scratch.

err, nm, posted this before I read your post hehe. works pretty smooth.

i've been playing with it, it's pretty fun, the rig is really good on the face, you can really set some detailed visemes ...I just finished the entire set and saved the profile for any other files i make from there. you can really give these character very big breasteses and make some quick low poly hoochi mommas!! Thanks for sharing the link! :w00t:

ps - found this on another page -

"This technology preview is available until September 30, 2013 after which the web portal may come down."

so get your hoochi momma's while they last! :P

I didn't catch the time limitation, but busy creating the avatar cast for the previz of my feature film. I have no idea how all this avatar stuff works but have managed to get a couple of them into Iclone and animated them with Chuck's persona
So far they just stare at me so will have to see how the blinking motion works.

So when you go to publish your PP avatar, you can set the "high resolution skelton" option. This will will still map automagically with the Maya HumanIK preset, but it will also give you some extra bones that can be used for spring effects. Namely; breasts, tummy, and toes.

I guess for a truly freaky effect you could also set it to export facial bones (another option) and morphs. Then you could have the facial bones be spring bones, and use the morphs for facial control.

Do you guys all own Maya or something or maybe I'm missing something  - These avatars look horrible in exchange and Iclone 5 ... I created a post earlier - I must of overlooked this one.

These were snipped in exchange and iclone  with the default lighting - I guess I might be over looking something - but to me these look pretty bad - And again it's probably just something I don't know - After seeing that last post - I'm not so sure I should be complaining - lol - Just Kidding of course - : )

I'm still pretty new but I already feel like I've read a set of encyclopedias. ugh - and I'm still lost - lol

This is my original post about the builder.

Very funny to see old avatar here :P. Seem like G1/G2 :D

Very strange to see Project Pinnochio available for all . I tested this project quickly at the beginning of the month . But this project is more old .

My feeling is an integration in autodesk product like their motion store . But not with this avatar :P .

But my last impression is no integration. It's a non-sense for autodesk product . The philosophy of autodesk seems more and more to displease to the 3d pro .

ok I downloaded the facial bone rigged ones this time

I can't say they're horrible, but they certainly don't get my adrenaline pumping. :doze:

 pete

they are definately no high poly detailed Daz models but ok for simple extras etc if you want to customize figures a bit.
