I do not wish for you to remove the video - its actually a damn good video BUT, please ask the supplier or model maker for permission - and i would have gladly helped out

I eventually compared the end of the barrel too  ( I had found 2 other enfields you made that were totally different) I realized then I needed to retract the dispute and apologize. I do try to pay attention to these things but obviously didn't read the page the day I downloaded it. I remember heavily modifying a rifle made by Serx but no doubt I used yours as the more I looked at that rifle the more I knew it was yours in the video.

I'm glad you posted here as I was going to send you a congratulations email on this outstanding piece of work.

Every aspect of this was amazing and it’s wonderful to see amazing films being made with this fantastic software.  You are a pioneer for iClone and always strive to producing professionally looking films.  Even the blend from other game engines was done in a manner that matched that of iClone itself (Granted it was never going to be seamless).

The copyright issue has stung us all and it is something we all need to think about, no matter what the item used is music, models, images, etc.  However with so much blatant disregarding all over the internet for copyright, it saddens me when someone who is only trying to move Machinma forward is caught out (Even though I fully understand James.chilton1’s point of view)

However, great film and the work you are doing will only benefit us all.

Also woke up to several emails concerning the use of the rifle from Google Warehouse.

One person pointed out that the whole concept behind the warehouse was to share models... hence the big honking download button as they put it. Further went on to state that by the logic carried out by the models creator anyone that downloaded a model would be stealing it.

Another person stated something I missed entirely everytime I read the models description and that was a prohibition against using it in a game... which I did not.  When I read the description again though there is a prohibition against "illegal use" without his permission so I'm not withdrawing my apology to him as I think I should have clarified that.

I do appreciate the support on this issue but please refrain from emailing me berating this model author for asking about this. I believe it is within his rights to do so and I did initially refute the use of that model as I thought I used a different one till I looked at them closely. Again...I should have gone to my office and checked my source files... I would have known immediately or if I had just visited this forum sooner and seen his comparisons.

It is always best to adhere to the modelers wishs but this leads to another question I was asked in an email. Should we contact every Google 3D Warehouse model author for permission to use their models in our films? I'm going to have to get more familiar with the 3D Warehouse terms of use to be able to answer that one. Let this be a lesson to not learn the hard way like I'm having to.

Wanted everyone to know that I just received a very nice pm from the modeler accepting my apology. As he stated... it was a lot of work. And very good work at that if I may add. 

This pro was never out of line with his questioning of its usage... terms of use can be a grey area.

As a long time user of iClone the one thing that stood out for me was it felt totally original and fresh. I got so engrossed in the movie I didn't do my usual thing of looking to see how the scenes were put together or what animations were used. (Save that for next time)

All in all an incredible 15 minutes of cinematic mastery. Well done Warlord.

With reference to Peters post above I was wondering earlier how you managed to get a 15min video onto YouTube when they stipulate a max of 10 mins.

I got into a director slot when youtube came out with that designation and it increases the parameters for your video uploads. They were giving them away fairly easily at that time too. To be honest I didn't know there was a time limit. I checked my upload page and it doesn't say anything about time but it does have a 1GB limit.

EDIT: Giz - found this in the Help section:

You can no longer upload videos longer than ten minutes regardless of what type of account you have. Users who had previously been allowed to upload longer content still retain this ability, so you may occasionally see videos that are longer than ten minutes. You can, however, easily change your account type to Director, Comedian, Musician, or Guru, which offer a variety of other features like the ability to add a custom logo, tour date information, and links to other websites.

The final render is perfect.

May I ask what settings you used for the video export from iClone?

The iClone render was AVI, 720pHD 1280 X 720.  Huge files. I thought this project was at 60 GIGS but I just checked and its closer to 100 GIGs uncompressed avi.

The final render is Vegas Home Studio, Video Bit Rate VBR 30 fps @ 1M bitrate WMV at 640 X 360 for Youtube making the final render compressed by half but maintaining the aspect ratio.

I understand google sketchup licencing restrictions - however the models i make are used in game modifications, which do have restrictions etc...

Generally I am a nice guy - and as I have said - this is only a hobby, however, I would really appriciate being contacted over usage of my models, and this is also stated in the warehouse on my description. I also request credit for any usage.

This for me - at the moment is non-proffit, and yes the google sketchup models are to be shared however, informed concent would sort out this whole little mess.

Either way - as I have said on youtube - DAMN fine film, I am an avid WW2 fan - especially when it comes to weapons ( as you might have guessed).

A Job well done.
