hello everyone.

my name is chris. i have just downloaded the latest trail version of iclone and i think its great. i am a writer and i wanted make my books into short films. i can only afford to buy the iclone 3 standard. what i wanted to know is would the standard be good enough to do what i want?

i have seen that movie edit pro 14 plus has a version of iclone. is this as good as the iclone standard?

any advise would be good.

thanks.

Hi Chris

It all depends on what you really want to do. Personally I would advise to try and stretch your budget and get the Pro version. This includes the timeline features. To me that is the be all and end all of making good animations. This is just the way I feel about your situation. Others may give you other advice.

Welcome to the community!!!:D

hi all

i have just been looking at the specs of both pro and standard and i cant see that much difference.

do you get the same amount of props, 3d scenes etc?

the list on the website shows that the content is the same.

i can easly buy the standard version but it is going to take a while for me to buy the pro.

with my trail version running out i need to make a choice soon.

please help.

thanks:D

As I have said Chris. I would stick it out until your budget can be stretched to buy the Pro Version. It may not look much different in the specs but the timeline features are a must I would say.

Good Luck

ok guys. i couldnt get the pro so i got the standard and i am loving it. i havent finished anything yet but i am really enjoying using it.

i had to download sketchup 6 because 7 didnt work with 3dxchange.

i am also trying to learn how to make my own clothes.

i need some gothic clothes and the inside of an old mansion.

it is proving a bit difficult but i am getting there.

thanks for all the advise and weclome.

i am saving my pennies just in case i need to upgrade to pro but at the moment i dont think i need to.

hi guys.

so i am two months in and i have just read over this post. i have had a lot of help from you guys and i am really greatful. i just wish i had listened to you all and got the pro version.

i think i would have found things a lot easier if i had the timeline editor. i supose i just wanted to get the full version before my trail ran out.

i checked the website and to upgrade will cost about £70. which is a huge amount for me at the moment so thats a bummer.

anyway i have nearly finished the first episode of my iclone series. it has been a long and tough ride but i am really enjoying it and my be if i save my pennies i will be able to get the pro version.

thanks again for all your help. sorry i didnt listen.

regards to you all

Hi Chris, nice to hear you are enjoying iclone and good luck with finishing your series :)

the upgrade to pro is worth it, the timeline is where all the extra magic can happen, lol. :D

Hi Chris,

Great to hear you are having so much fun with iClone3.

I fully understand what you are saying about the upgrade price. In these tough times it is a lot to commit to I know. I do believe though you will find the switch to Pro very rewarding with power of the iClone timeline available to you. There is still much you can do and learn with the standard version that will help you greatly when you do make the switch.

If you do decide to upgrade to Pro remember to check your Premium Members page for a good discount off the price. :)

thanks peter.

i will have a look to see how much it will cost from iclone.

the only thing i thought with that is they would have to ship it to me which might cost a bit more.

The timeline IMHO is one of the best things about the upgrade. It's the core of the program. I have only concentrated on dialogue, motion, camera switch and lights so far. Once you master it then it's a huge improvement over v2.

iClone is now a very serious contender for the most versatile, quickest to learn software for machinima. Come v4 and there's a chance it will be top of the heap. Save your pennies and go for PRO.
