Dear All,

Reallusion has just released the latest iClone plug-in, Physics Toolbox. The Physics Toolbox is not just another content pack, it is THE toolbox to own when creating life-like animations. This kit provides you with a whole new realm of tools that can be used to build and construct mechanical props with a wide variety of motors, springs, sliders and other self-powered elements.

Learning and using the Physics Toolbox may sometimes be a bit daunting at first, so if you have any feedback or ideas on how to use this tool, then please share your comments with all of us here on this post!

Wanting Clarification on the Two versions displayed.

Which one is being sold? There doesn't appear to be a distinguishing difference when added to the Cart for the versions or even in the title.

Is there a pricing difference?

Are they both part of the same package?

Runtime or Authoring Version, which one is being added to the Cart?

I can see the differences here: http://www.reallusion.com/contentstore/iClone/pack/Physics_Toolbox/Version_Comparison.aspx

But the Title doesn't say which one this particular package is: http://www.reallusion.com/ContentStore/csproduct.aspx?contentid=AIC500DIENU050120120210001

Hi Cricky

When you purchase the Physics Toolbox you will have access to both the Authoring and Runtime elements. The purpose of this is to allow you (the developer) to create content using the Toolbox and then decide how you want this content to be shared.

So for example you could create a working machine. Your version would the be the authoring version and would contain all the custom scripts. You can then decide to share or sell the machine but set it as a runtime model. This means the users you share the machine with will not have access to your custom scripts, but will be able to operate it using the built in control panel.

Hope this helps. :)

I am running Explorer 9 and when I go to the toolbox webpage and click on one of the buttons at the top (assembly guide, bonus, etc.) the page loads with a box that says " wait for page to load" then it goes out to lunch. I click oK and the box pops up again. I never get the page to load and Explore final times out and restarts. Is it just me or Internet Explorer 9.

This plugin is wonderful. Thank you, Reallusion.
For a return, here is a prophecy: it is a matter of few months for somebody to make something like Source's "Garry's Mod" for iClone. After that, of course, nothing will be the same.
Remember that I, Tom Jantol, said that first and that with this statement I am now part of the animation history.

There is a mess in Toolbox Force thumbnails in Content Manager: Projectile, Ballista, Firearm and Bomb have pictures changed each other. It is confusing :)

It does appear to be an issue with IE9 unfortunately. The pages are loading fine in Chrome. We will look into this and hopefully get it fixed soon. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Serious issues with Physics Toolbox: most of the projects refuse to display, giving only a blank or gradient gray screen.

I haven't tried to load every project, but most of the Tutorial projects I tried refuse to real-time render. One exception is the Battering Ram, which does render.

If I am not mistaken, all projects in the Bonus folder will render.

Yes, it's true, but workaround is simple: in project is lot of props signed as dummy :), so you press CTRL+D and they appear :)

Hi PW

Seems you are experiencing the same initial problem I had. Some of the tutorial components are set to dummy so just release them from that state to view what`s going on.

I suppose it`s in the instuctions somewhere but I`m having to much fun playing at present to read instructions. Maybe tomorrow :D

Geoff.

Ooopps! Sorry Mirun looks like I just cross posted.

Roberto the pack is discounted by 20% for Premium Plus members. The normal price is $99.95 but it is reduced to $79.95 for a limited time.

Not sure what you mean about no discount? Please explain if you can't purchase for $79.95

Ok I downloaded the software physics tool box. Went to set props and all I have is physics toolbox force and structure. Dont have L1 or L2 listed in props for my springs and motors etc. Am I doing something wrong there was only one download link so i figured it was all in that one package. Thanks for any help

I posted separately about the physics objects do not render in the main window. Is the deleting of dummys a work around or is this a bigger problem?

You should be able to toggle the dummy objects on or off by pressing CTRL-D. Most likely they have been turned off at some point. Just turn them back on and you should be good to go.

Is it possible to attach a soft body to one of the props and have it record? If I disable the physics, it kooses the soft body properties

Can a force (push or explosion) be attached to an object and affect that object each time it is used? For instance can a bomb be attached to a block to continuosly push the block each time it is enacted?

I finally found the tutorial on the push force and figured this one out (I think).

A groovy addition to these tools would be the ability to activate them if/when they come in contact with other physics enabled props. For instance, a pinball table could have the bomb force activated when the ball hits the bumper.

Another interesting force to include in the future would be an attraction force that could be toggled on and off.

Any physics toolbox experts out there?

Can a conveyor belt be attached to a moving object? The base can but the rollers have a world hinge constraint that allows them to roll but keeps them in place regardless of the attachment. I need a conveyor belt on a moving vehicle for my contest entry.

Any thoughts?
By txon - 14 Years Ago
Someone can tell me how they are recorded with the box of physical movements, I must be very donkey then fail to do so

Alguien me puede decir como se graban los movimientos con la caja de fisica, debo de ser muy burro pues no consigo hacerlo

I already started a thread with the suggestion before seeing this, but I will ask if those of you who have experience with the physics toolbox are able to make a vehicle with a trailer. Utility trailer. Boat trailer. 18 wheeler trailer. Keeping in mind that works as it should with regard to physics. Thanks!
