I am a newbie, with a capital "N",and find the tutorials pretty frustrating, to say the least. I want to learn this so bad, for no other reason than enjoyment of fooling around with animating in my retirement years to give me something to do.

I believed the advertising that said this was all so easy, but I think that the tutorials, and the people that give them, all more or less assume that the people watching them have some kind of prior experience and leave certain steps/instructions out of the tutorials because of that assumption. To someone like me that needs specific instructions of "click this key-push that button, etc.", all these tutorials leave me wishing I hadn't spent the money.

I saw in one of the posts where one of the administrators said that beginner type lessons might be possible in the future, but am real curious as to when that might be-2 months? 2 years? I'm not trying to be a smart alec or anything like that-it's just frustrating trying to figure out the gaps/missing instructions.  I was hoping this would turn out to be much easier than it has been so far.

Welcome to the Forum:)

If you're referring to iClone, you only need 1 Tutorial: Warlord's Beginners Project-based Tutorial. Additional Props that aren't included in iClone Program are included with the Tutorial.

To save yourself money, purchase the PDF Version. Have that Open at the same time as iClone, switching Windows as you go through the Tutorial. The Best & easiest to use PDF Reader is Foxit.

I'll add Links to the Tutorial & Foxit to my Post, here.

ADDED - Foxit: http://foxitsoftware.com/downloads/

I feel your pain thunder ;) I guess I'm responsible for some of those awful tutes myself. It's always good to have at least skimmed the manual "F1" before you even look at a tutorial...I'm going to do that sometime ;) And to frustrate you even more here are my confusing tutorials :D

And don't forget Stuckon3d's awesome tutes at his YouTube Channel...

As Mark has said above it is vital before you start watching the tutorials to read through the Online Help Guide which will show you where everything is. Once you understand the interface, where the movement controls are and the timeline etc you will find it much easier to follow the tutorials.

Both iClone and CrazyTalk Animator have a learning curve and the biggest frustration comes from trying to do too much too soon. As the saying goes, don' try to run before you can walk. You won't learn everything in a day or even a week. Start simple and don't rush on to the next thing before you have mastered the first.

It can be frustrating I know but if you hang in there and read and watch as much as you can I'm sure it won't be too long before things get easier to understand. :)

I'll say this to anyone just starting out and might be overwhelmed. I started off with ZERO experience, but through watching tutorials on Youtube, I'm able to make some pretty epic videos. They're banned here apparently because the swear words makes the mods cry, but if you check out my page, you'll see why I have 875 subcribers and people call me a future legend in iClone animation.

Here it is. Might wanna bookmark it before my post gets deleted by these Nazi mods here.

Dante1st as you well know your videos are removed because they contain extremely offensive language and content which is totally unsuitable for a family friendly forum like this one.

It is of course your right to make these type of movies but I'm baffled that you can't understand why you can't post them on this forum. Are you honestly happy for children to watch them?

Important: Please add a warning to your signature or this will have to be removed too. Thanks.

I have just watched your film .. which makes my earlier comments about the nobbit sound idiotic as the nobbit uses bad language but yours are borderline pornographic (which is always good for me:D)but this is SOOOOOO not the place to post them , and really you should know that ....
By animagic - 13 Years Ago
We're getting severely OT again. Don't want to scare new users away...
By bluemidget666 - 13 Years Ago
I am not trying to scare anyone off .. I was just putting right my comments about the Nobbit been compared to this vid ... This vid is of very VERY adult humor with a very sexual overtone .. The only criticism I feel I should take is comparing it to the Nobbit in the first place ...

I am not knocking the vid ..I have done worse, but not posted here and if I did I would spell out how adult it was....

I think its just common sense

HI Swooooop

I think thats kinda what I said......
By bluemidget666 - 13 Years Ago
What is or is not porn is a debatable point ... is the last tango in Paris porn or art...whatever it is you would have a clear understanding of it content before watching it or allowing others to watch it....

I would not want to stop film of a Adult nature been made or show...

WHAT IS FUNNY IS THE IDEA OF PETER BEEN A NATZI:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Lol! I subscribed to his channel but totally agree it is not forum friendly material, I am a big girl, I find it funny but no way should kiddies watch it.
This is a family friendly forum as mentioned, there should be a profanity tag available for some posts too, I myself have been guilty of naughty innuendo.

Bluemidget is not a troll BTW Sw00000p (or a Daz ding dong for that matter :hehe: )
pls don't call people names, that is how some previous heated discussions started.

Excuse me but the topic of this is not what is in the videos but how do you make a video. Can you PM each other so we can get back to the topic of this post. I got the Beginners Guide and have just started on it. It is a very good book to have. I started out not knowing anything about iClone or what it did. I am a graphics junkie and I wanted to learn how to make animations. I am also one of those people that learns better with step by step but I have found that by selecting one of the tutorials and going through it a couple of times that I have been able to pick up on how iclone works little by little. You just have to keep at it. The more you pick up on the basics, the easier it gets to learn the other parts. I have even made a few videos for myself.

Swoooop said, "As I have many faults, I would NEVER display something of that nature!
It's Morally Wrong!"

I agree that the video is adult-themed and not meant for kids to watch, but disagree with Swooop's calling it "morally wrong". That is a "value" judgment that American conservatives almost always seem to reserve for the sexual realm. Why? Why is it that the depiction of nudity or sexual suggestiveness is so horrible to the average American, whereas the depiction of all kinds of violence (beatings, torture, murder) is "O.K. in the U.S.A."? In European television, it's extreme violence (bashings/murder/torture) that is censored, while sexuality/nudity is not.

Writer Anne Rice pointed to this odd incongruity/twist in the American psyche a while back: "Gays are in the vanguard of that final divorce of sex from conventional notions of sin; the divorce of sin from mythology and religion. If we can carry this off---if we can take sex out of the realm of sin altogether and see it as something else to do with personal relationships and ethics, then we can finally get around to another phase of Christianity which is long overdue. That phase is the one which deals with the question of sin as violence; sin as cruelty; sin as murder, war and starvation."

To make my point, I'm providing a link to a television ad for the city of Berlin that was produced and paid for by the CONSERVATIVE (!) newspaper "Berliner Morgenpost". The texts appearing in the video read:
"Wenn jeder anzieht, was er will."/"When everyone can wear whatever they want.",
"Wenn eine Familie nicht aussehen muss wie eine Familie."/"When a family doesn't have to look like a family.",
the barkeeper's T-Shirt reads "[Gimme a] Tip or Shut Up", "Wenn's härter gesagt als gemeint ist."/"When it's said more harshly than it's meant.",
"Wenn plötzlich Kunst entsteht."/"When suddenly art occurs.",
"Wenn's 300 Damen vom Grill sind"/"When it's 300 Ladies from the Sausage Grill [instead of 3]",
"Wenn die Stadt für immer ein Teil von dir ist."/"When the city is always a part of you.",
"DAS IST BERLIN"/"THAT IS BERLIN". 'Nuf said.

Mr. Hutch,
I don't think any of that is appropriate in Life!
The Same morals and values that were taught to my parents were passed on to my kids!

The depiction of ANY kind of violence (SEX, beatings, torture, murder) is NOT O.K.
We don't have friends that share that point of view either!

I'm NOT like the Americans.. You speak of! Nor Do I Care To Meet Any!
And Thank Goodnes.... Sir Peter sensor that Porn from iClone!

____________________________________________________________

The way I see it... There is good and bad... All Across the Planet!
How you choose to live your life is what matters!

Sex and desire are good things, natural urges that harm no one and bring pleasure to those involved (this is where religion has got it all wrong, instrumentalizing normal desires every healthy adult has by turning them against people; inducing guilt into those who fall into their sexphobic, ideological trap, the easier and better to control and manipulate the masses). Sex, love and desire per se have nothing whatsoever to do with violence. What YOU probably mean are rape, and the sexual abuse of minors, which ARE violence.

P.S. I do NOT share the "values" of my parents' generation, who valued America's anti-miscegenation laws and unquestioningly expected blacks to take a seat in the back of the bus, while gays and lesbians were to remain invisible, were hunted down by McCarthy's cronies, and forced to face dire consequences upon detection (loss of reputation, job, freedom, or even life). For more info on life in the McCarthy Fifties, check the following link (a trailer to the movie "The Lavender Scare"):

I uphold the values taught to me, which has absolutely NOTHING to do with what your "Babbling About!"

I'm Done!
Peace!

I, as a rule, do not babble, sir. It is you who aren't making sense, while accusing me of talking nonsense.
Upholding (socially widely held) "values" taught to you (no matter how wrong and/or harmful from a modern-day perspective, and no matter how much they might be in violation of today's equal rights legislation) will get yourself into a moral dilemma.
There is no room for the societal values of yore (listed above) in a world where citizens' civil rights are recognized and honored as a part of the common good.

While there have been several examples of post hijacking on the Forum, this thread has to be one of the worst examples available.

The original poster started by asking:

A post by a porno King, the attacks on his work and the subsequent freedom of speech support posts have done nothing to help to OP.

For the OP,

most of the iClone videos are available on Youtube.

You can also view stuff at the iClone Training Center.

First you accuse me of thinking as certain way, "That All Americans have".... Wrong!
Then You say my parents taught me some Crazy values... Wrong Again!

You Have a Demented Wayof Catagorizing... ALL AMERICANS! They All Think The Same Way!

You need Help!

"Socially WIDELY HELD values" from the 1950s means just that. No one said EVERYONE thought the same way. However, racism and homophobia WERE widespread AND socially accepted "values" back then --- and they were backed up by segregation/"separate-but-equal" Jim Crow laws (until 1965!), anti-miscegenation laws (until 1967!), sodomy laws (until 2003!) and "separate-but-equal" same-sex Civil Unions (still ongoing struggle for equality), whether we like it or not. These are historical facts. Happily, values change and, like societies themselves, evolve over time. Pretending otherwise --- despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, is just plain silly. Enough already! Please get back to this thread's original subject!

Well-said, Gerry:).

I'm glad I'm not a New iClone User.:ermm:

This Thread is the worst example of Thread hijacking on "Any" Forum I Post in.

Perhaps the original Poster would like to join-in the Warlord's Tutorial Thread, where there's "Constructive" discussion:) & not "Destructive", as this Thread has become.

Well I went to bed last night happy with my morals wake up this morning to find my thinking is the cause of society moral break down and I have been party to hijacked a thread ....

I Personally do not feel its hijacking to follow issues that a thread may bring up, but accept that others do..

I would start another thead about Iclone and adult material as I feel sooner or later its going to be a issue to talk about, as it is for Daz users, but as it went downhill quickly here I dont think I will ...

Just for the record though one of my morals is never to inflict my morals on anyone else, I believe in this very strongly...

Thunderjunkie please post again!
I do hope you have not been scared off, there are lots of people here more than happy to sell you content and tutorials or you can just do what I did, try stuff and see what works or scream at your computer when it doesn't!
Start off simple, load a few friends heads to the characters and use the text to speech to make them say silly things!
Put homemovies in the background (under 2D background) then slowly try animation
everything is basically drag and drop.
By planetstardragon - 13 Years Ago
besides, this is how we learn!! it is part of our heritage to go off on tangents to ease the stress of finding an organized system of tutorials. we have come a long way since the wiki wars. I personally have requested a player vs player module since iclone 3.
By animagic - 13 Years Ago
Well, hopefully Thunderjunkie hasn't seen most of this thread, because it might give the wrong impression of the usually friendly and helpful people here...

There are a lot of posts with how-tos in this forum, and when you get stuck, just ask a question!

(BTW, I do have an opinion on the subject...but it would be too, uh, European, and I am an American now...)
